👍I'm honestly just hoping there's some redemption arc for her instead of it just being a lesson for the viewers from seeing the consequences she will obviously suffer. I also wouldn't dig too deep for plot holes lol. It's a cdrama adapted from a webnovel, the drama isn't winning any oscar neither is the novel winning any noteworthy award. Although, it is still fun to discuss and find possible explanations for potential plotholes.

Im guessing before the escape, his logic is that telling her will just lead to her alienating him like she did when he tried to dissuade her from the marriage. He also thinks it's fine since they are in his backyard. He spoilt and sheltered her from when she was young so this is probably him doing the same for her happiness.

After he catches them, all he's trying to do is bring her back. Even after she threatens to end her own life he tries to physically restrain her and bring her back. She then acts like a human shield for sml and ml seems extremely hurt. He may perceive it as another betrayal from someone close to him hence the "broken" state he's in as they leave. There's no time or chance to tell her and even if he did, she wouldn't believe him. Those are the reasons I see why he doesn't tell her before and after the escape

Oh, my bad. I thought you were caught up. It's just that ml already already tried to dissuade her from the marriage and was met with very extreme resistance. If he suddenly came up and started telling her that sml is some mega villain, the princess would just think he's once again trying to stop the marriage and push ml away again. It would probably have the opposite result and push her towards sml

Seems like both Ning Fei and Yixiao weren't informed. XJS definitely knew that Yixiao would object so that's probably why he didn't tell her. Ning Fei would probably snitch to Yixiao lol

He's a manipulative psychopath who believes in his " great ambition". I assume he really thinks he's a good person and will do "righteous" things but also won't bet an eye at evil(killing 300k people, death camps, manipulating FYX and her brothers). He probably has actual orphanages built up, feeds the poor, supports peasants, but will also send orphans to death camps, ridiculously tax the poor in times of personal need and sacrifice countless lives for his own goals.

Even in this scenario, he could easily dump the princess after escaping the palace/border and that would be the truly good thing to do since he won't love her. It's probably not the director's intent but XJS taking the princess to his kingdom just looks like more manipulation to me. Even though I don't like her, I also hope she won't die or suffer roo much for FSG's sake

She stole a very important token, betraying her father and brother who have been the 2 closest people to her. She threatened to end her own life. She has yet to listen to any advice given to her by the ml about the sml. She guilt tripped ml when he didn't agree to her marriage. All for someone she met once and fell in love with because he didn't kill her. Do you really think she would listen if the ml told her that the sml is bad?

Ignoring all that, the ml thought the sml would stay in their kingdom so even if she got what she wanted she shouldn't be in immediate danger. Telling her after chasing them in that high intense scenario would just make her think he's lying. With how obsessed she is, even telling her in a normal scenario would just make her claim ml is lying to stop the marriage.

Its probably 21/22 with the heartbreak. The trailer shows ml getting buried so one of those symbols probably represent that scene. It's probably ep22 based on the story so far

This!! I really hope they keep it this way. It's the same reason I loved Coroner's diary and Who rules the world. After both those dramas I tried so hard to find another costume drama where it doesn't feel like the relationship is paper thin but almost all the suggestions are disappointing. I really hope there's no breakup especially not due to noble idiocy

I'm probably in the minority but if ml and sml were portrayed the way they were in the novel, I probably would have hated this drama. ML was constantly jealous from the beginning to the very end, not the cute type of jealousy either. The drama relationship between ml and fl is so much better imo, it feels strong and unbreakable. I prefer ml and fl to solve problems together instead of the usual jealousy, breakups/seperations, noble idiocy. sml also felt more like an ml whenever he was around(which was a lot, the last arc is basically driven by him and fl). Lol I just didn't like it

I'm suddenly suspicious of the 2nd prince. He just seems too "good". What if there are 2 masked men?

If you like the drama, I wouldn't recommend the novel. It's a whole different story and almost everything is worse imo. I regretted bothering with the novel

1. There's no masked man in the novel. The drama is a very loose adaptation (for the better imo).

2. ML finds a token on an assassin that shows that the assassin can only be commanded by either XJS or Weiran. At that point it's almost certain XJS is bad since Weiran is his subordinate. ML is extremely loyal and cherishes his subordinates. He knows fl was very loyal to XJS as her superior and was betrayed by him hence the hatred. We also find out later that ML was betrayed by multiple people who tried to kill him when he was a kid so FYX's betrayal probably hits close to home causing him to hate her betrayers(XJS) even more. There's also hatred on the battlefield since they are leaders of opposing armies

Nah, it's a more "realistic" amnesia. Her personality doesn't change from the amnesia and the ml even tells her who she is on their first meeting

Ning Fei yes, but not the other one. He's tried to kill her 3 times, believes his biggest mistake was failing to kill her and still wants to kill her now. Before ep16, he was worse than the sml

In today's ep it was all psychological imo. She saw someone who looks like her old torturer, who should be dead. I doubt anyone would think straight in that scenario considering what she went through. She smelled the poison and even covered her nose but got shocked and let down her guard after seeing that it was another death camp. Just like how she wanted to save the child even though it was impossible and would just get her killed. The enemy used a psychological attack, it's not that she got any dumber or lost her skills/aura. Enemy knew her weakness and used it.

By ep12 she remembers most of the important things. The amnesia doesn't change her personality like other dramas do, so she's the "determined, capable female general" from the beginning. Her left hand is injured making her unable to use a bow(her specialty) but she's still extremely strong with a sword using just her right hand.

ML also doesn't deceive her so she knows who she is from the beginning and that ml was her enemy. The amnesia is mainly about who wants to kill her.

He might have "inherited" them from someone else.

16/38 episodes are out. Based on the art on the calender it's probably a happy ending but we never know

After that death camp reveal, unless there's some other revelation, I hope there's no redemption for sml and he just dies a miserable death
