Alone under rain, beneath the gate, while it thunders. one turns back, not out of fear as the legend says, but out of love. for not hurting her is more important than what you need, and one must struggle in order to be a human being.

The movie is well done for what it wants to sell, it’s split into two halves, the first one being the woman in love and the later half is the man in love.
One man relies thoroughly on fiction to escape the endless cruelties, hypocrisies, treacherous and tragedies his faced and ends up creating change in other people’s lives that he passes by as a detour of sorts.

A Chinese princess is loved by a commoner. Enraged, the Emperor beheads the young man. But he is reincarnated as a snake and wraps his body tightly around the princess, slowly killing her. A priest suggests she go to Chungpyung Temple in Korea. The princess goes inside the temple to ask for food, telling the snake to wait outside for her. But she never comes out, and so the snake goes after her. Just then it begins to rain and, scared, the snake runs away. The temple gate from which the snake turned back is thenceforth known as the Turning Gate.

Youth lived as soap bubbles, at first it’s so colorful and bright but then it bursts and turns into nothing.
Youth is fun, youth is amazing, it’s where you have all your cherished memories and if you have nothing cherished to look back at when you get older, it can become hella depressing.

In reality, motivation and aspirations can become really tiring as you get older and sometimes antagonizing.
But no one is totally sane in this world. Those who think they are, are just oblivious to reality.

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality is to go insane.

Theatre : 🎭 A love story 🎭

“Toxic people attach themselves like cinder blocks tied to your ankles, and then invite you for a swim in their poisoned waters.” ― John Mark Green

This movie shows the power of love, when there's no wealth or fame involved. One would sacrifices everything to support the one they love, without asking for anything in return. At the same time, it reflects how love can be easily taken advantage of.

There is zero shooting stars or sparkles in this movie, the lead is what they’d call a classic jerk and your ability to finish the movie depends on how much bullshit you can tolerate from one individual.

The movie tells its story so heartlessly that it keeps you wondering how humans can treat each other that way and you start reminiscing about your deeds and how differently you’d have conducted yourself in certain situations, only to realize maybe all of us have our good and bad moments, but our overall kindness is what defines us at the end.

Can we really determine the root of all our misery and insecurities? And what if we are the cause of all our misfortune can we handle the outcome?

Is it a love story? A trouble relationship between two people who go through all awkwardness and arguments about nothing but still enjoy each others UN-joyful silence.
Both struggling with different insecurities, but what differentiates people is their kindness.

Do I recommend the movie ? Yes
Should you watch it? No

In our view, everything is taken for granted.
We have resolved, that the earth will go on spinning.
That at any moment, it will be possible for us to express our feelings and love.
That these ordinary but contented days will just go on and on.
We’ve forgotten the darkness of the night…
But, what if there was a day..
When we suddenly lost it all.
The bird like freedom we have.
Our good days.
If somehow this bright night sky was lost to us?
If we were thrown into a pitch black night, alone…

“I wonder if you would be able to find the light out there,,, for the both of us.”

Water is mysterious, isn't it?
It can become vapor
It can become snow
It may take various forms
but in reality, it's all water.
Even if it's invisible to our eyes
it cannot disappear from this world.
And that’s how I feel about you.

My only strong point is my ability to endure pain

Tokyo sunrise

Why do we close our eyes when we pray, cry, kiss or dream?
It’s because the most beautiful things in life are not seen, but felt by the heart.

While coping with loss, man goes on a journey to rediscover the meaning of his life.
It’s still difficult for me to watch movies that depict the loss of someone loved, specially this time of the year, but seeing the braver through the melancholic spiral that our lead was going through, made me think that with a little brightness we can go through anything.

Tokyo sunrise is like taking the longest cold shower, followed by the warmest bath. Going back om and forth on darkness and light and you’ll understand at the end.
Time doesn’t heal all wounds or grief, it simply makes it lighter to carry around.

Pushing away everything to keep alive that one thing. I probably should show more sympathy for this as a depiction of a nervous breakdown, if only it weren’t so entertaining or close to home.

Should I go extinct? Can anyone see me? What does that even mean… it’s okay to be forgotten by the universe as long as THAT one person remembers you? Well tremble all you want, the world never changed for anyone whether they are weak or strong, we all go back to the same place we once came from.

Should I go extinct ?

I didn’t know conversations could be this passionate, no flirting or physical contact, but we still caress each other through tour conversations, truly caring for one another.

A good story will keep you attached and thinking about the characters lives after the narrative of the story ended, you care for them and wish them well just as real people.
I’ll be thinking about them for weeks to come.

What’s good about human disqualification?
Well well well nothing is well.
First we start off by being thrown in the characters universe, their daily lives, no backstory no flashback
Unlike every usual Kdrama where you know the character design and you can predict their actions their arcs and their redemption.
There is no feeling of overshadowing plot or plot point that you look forward too, you feel like a person within the leads lives like a spectator of daily nothingness.
For me, this show is a revolution, unexpected actions and thoroughly thought out characters that, yes as cringy and repetitive as it sounds, they feel human.

Our dearest female lead, the harvester of sorrow, the archetype of all my desires, kept me glued to my screen with her acting and more with her character design and how well it was written, I’ve cheered for her happiness more than my own.

Not to spoil anything by mentioning the plot
I’d just like to mention the cake scene in the early episodes, I thought it’s really smart that the cake represented each lead’s life and how each missing cake piece signified what’s really missing in a humans life and which human really is deserving of the extra cake piece.

The show really is excellent at showing the emotions without the typical kdrama grand gestures or the never ending sad OSTs to point us towards psychologically feeling sad for our leads.
Even though there is still one episode left, I’m rating this straight 10s even they burned the entire thing down.

"I understand. When a person is extremely sad, they want to lean on a stranger”
I’m glad that people have pillars in their lives, and I’m glad these two were pillars for each other.
