Excellent review
Mediocre but a lot of fun
6.5/10
As someone who lives for the amnesia plot, this one did well with the mystery and suspense elements that kept me engaged but at the same time so bored, the character introduction was weak and at the end I realized that I kept going because the girl has a very pretty face.
Camera work is horrendous at some scenes and the twists were good but their insert into the follow of the frame didnât give me the feeling of âOH THATS THE TWISTâ. They were just there.
Anyone born as a human will witness or experience some inhuman parts of being human.
Excellence as always
8.8/10
But... there's too much suffering... too much injustice.
Such an ironic title since there is no bright summer days for this gang of misfits..
âMillions of Mainland Chinese fled to Taiwan with the National Government after its civil war defeat by the Chinese Communists in 1949. Their children were brought up in an uneasy atmosphere created by the parents' own uncertainty about the future. Many formed street gangs to search for identity and to strengthen their sense of security.â
With that plotline youâd think why would this movie need 4 hours.
Well it does, for you to sense that the Taiwanese identity is one of exile and stranger-hood, how when you corner someone out of their identity and they freedom of expression theyâll forcefully take back.
A cast of no actors, with stolen identities trying to make it feel like home.
9/10
A story about a group of prostitutes in the red light district in Tokyo before she illegal. Their back stories are the basic melodramas but that doesnât take away from their heartbreaking effect. Donât get me wrong, The women are all strong but there's that weakness that is brought on by society's double-standards, where the strongest is still weak by default. The movie contains tons of misery and unfairness so if you canât handle it donât watch, but so does real life.
âWhatâs your name?â
