I had high hopes for this series but episode 5 was really such a disappointment. No hate for KYO but it's really…
I dropped it from a 10 to a 6 ... and I thought that even a 6 was too high of a rating after the awful twist in the plot that occurred in episode 5. It was a terrible ending. A total let down. Maybe I should lower my rating to a 4.
You know the adage that these two things can be true at once? For me, it's these three things: The first four…
Thank you so much for sharing how you were able to process the frustrating ending. I am going to do what you did...and disregard it as it was presented to us.
It's refreshing to see a series like this one. A previous commenter posted that it's a hidden gem. And yes, I…
Everyone has their own preference in the level of sexual content in the shows that they watch. What works for one person might not work for another person. And that's okay. I do see a trend, though, in the direction which the BL series are going. I was just glad to see that this series bucked that trend.
A previous commenter posted that it's a hidden gem. And yes, I agree...it's absolutely a gem. It's also underrated...under-exposed...and under-marketed.
Unfortunately, it seems like sex sells...and many BL's have morphed into hyper-sexualized dramas that are no longer fun or interesting. It takes a writer little to no imagination at all to mass produce episode after episode of sex filled scenes or dialogue laden with sexualized innuendos...throw them together with a flimsy or boring plot and pass it off as a finished product.
This series...on the other hand...is a masterpiece written, directed, and acted by imaginative minds who've implemented extraordinary creative skills. Caged Again is like a breath of fresh air rushing through an industry (BL series industry) that has started to stagnate with adult content that's no longer suitable for general audiences.
I give a big thanks and a rating of 10 to all who have been involved in the production of this series.
Episodes 1-4 were beautifully romantic...touchingly innocent...leaving us with the feeling of hope springs eternal.
Then came episode 5. Uggghhhhh. What were the writers thinking? How could they have ruined such a beautiful love story? I was so disappointed...so let down. I didn't bother watching episode 6 in its entirety. Instead I just jumped forward several times to catch a few scenes.
WHY? Why did the writers DO this? How could the producers and the production studio have allowed this?
And...to make it even worse...a different actor assumes the role of Sonjam in Aksorn's universe. The time fall back of 27 years during the jump between parallel universes made no sense. It was a frustrating and disappointing ending.
This could have been one of the most endearing BL series made...along the lines of "I Told Sunset About You"....but even better. But it wasn't.
I would have given this series a rating of 10. But because of the twist in the plot in the last 2 episodes, I couldn't bring myself to give it any higher than a 6. The way that the writers ruined it, it probably should just be a 3 or a 4.
Would I recommend watching it? We watch BL's because they make us feel good...we don't watch them so that we can get frustrated by their endings. So...I have this piece of advice: The first 4 episodes are captivatingly beautiful. But be prepared for a huge disappointment filled with frustration in the last 2 episodes. If you're strong enough to do it, stop at the end of the 4th episode...right after the previews for the 5th episode.
I'm liking it...a lot. I think that a lot of viewers are uncertain about it because it's quirky and offbeat. If you start watching it and are confused, send me a message. I'll do my best to explain it.
Kind of quirky...and off beat....but a good watch. It's holding my interest. Chen Chvn Yen has to be one of the most handsome and likeable actors I've ever seen. I just finished episode 3 and am looking forward to the next one.
It FINALLY made it to MDL....and I'm not sure what took MDL so long to acknowledge it. I'm really enjoying it. A fun plot. Handsome guys. Interesting characters. I give it an 8.
