I've seen two shows this year where the writers missed a huge opportunity by not making the protag the actual villain. The disappointment always hits hard.

I like their friendship as well. My bet's on ML being a crime scene investigator, or something. No way the screenwriters would have the guts to make him an actual criminal.

I'm halfway through episode 2 and bored out of my mind, to be honest. The only thing I like is the SML, but since I know he won't get the girl, it feels a bit pointless to get invested in that.

I don't know, SML seems to know and understand very well, and to be very considerate, too. I'm halfway through episode 2 and I have yet to see anything truly endearing about ML. Except maybe his efforts to learn to communicate, but that's severely undermined by the show's efforts to convince us that he's a serial killer.

Is it necessary to have watched the other ones before starting this one?

They wrote Empress Ki as well, which certainly had an ending. Tbh, they probably got told a second season would be made for Vagabond, and then somebody dropped the ball...

OMG, YES. I was waiting for him to get his moment of glory where he showed them all who's boss, but nope, didn't happen! Also, his entire backstory makes zero sense and would have deserved at least a few episodes of explanation.

Nirvana in Fire has a similar plot. You might want to check it out if you haven't seen it already, it's a gorgeous drama.

The subtitles make less than zero sense, they're some of the worst I've seen. Guess I'll have to wait for this show to get some decent ones before giving it another try. Very disappointing. (Then again, it's MGTV, I knew this would happen.)

There's Love is More than a Word, Word of Honor and The Untamed for the costume ones. The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty is adapted from a BL novel by Priest (I think) but isn't all that heavy on the bromance. Then you've got Guardian (not costume, but amazing nonetheless) and of course Under the Skin, which is absolutely amazing. Ooh, and a costume one with a really good bromance is Ancient Detective! It's a bit slow to start, but amazing once you're hooked.

Legend of Fuyao is amazing! I'd also recommend Douluo Continent, Ever Night and Joy of Life (although this one doesn't have sects, but it's a great drama).

I'm at episode 40 and so far he's a steadfast friend and ally. I don't think he'll become evil either, to be honest.

Not sure about mine... Same here, I prefer to support through official channels, but if I can't, well.

I've found that some VPNs are more efficient than others, and also that they don't work on tablet for me. I'll try on PC tonight and see if it works. If not, we'll have to look for... alternatives. I'll let you know either way.
