The funniest thing is that I expected it. Happy endings are a rarity in Chinese dramas these days. It's exhausting.
Exactly! I watch dramas for escapism, I don't want sad endings. But anyway... Nothing we can do, as you say. I hope they get enough backlash from CN that they release the alternate ending, at least. Or learn from their mistakes (they won't lmao). On to the next one!
I genuinely don’t understand what is happening to Chinese dramas lately. Out of the three biggest shows that…
It's been a few years of this trend, unfortunately. I've learned not to trust any drama that's off to a good start, because chances are the writers will drop the ball around episode 10, or at the halfway point at the latest. (The only exception so far has been Coroner's Diary.) This one is a huge disappointment, though, because it seemed like a martial arts adventure, so I was hoping it would be safe (especially since they shot 2 endings, from what I understand). I'll just go back to my old ways of never starting a CDrama unless it's done airing and I can be sure it has a HE, I guess.

IKR? We got a reprieve for a few years, but it seems sad endings are back in full force. My trust issues have trust issues at this point, I hate it. Guess I won't be starting anything anymore until it's over and I know it's a good ending. What pisses me off the most, though, is that from what I understand, they shot two different endings.
I honestly don’t understand why so many people are excited that Lici finally beat up Liu Yan.To begin with,…
"Lici had a million chances to show everything to Yan, but for some reason he only did it when it no longer mattered." I disagree: I'm only at episode 19, but they've been saying that he's been looking for Liu Yan for years, they haven't seen each other since they parted ways. And when they finally met up again, Li Ci did tell him the truth. The first time, in the illusion, he tried and couldn't get a word in, but he did say it the second time. It's not his fault Liu Yan didn't believe him.
This is the first time I’m watching a drama with these actors, except for Jun Ning Zhang. The first two episodes…
If you like martial arts, you should check out The Blood of Youth and Word of Honor, they're both fantastic. Cheng Yi's quite popular now, so he has a few dramas under his belt. You might want to check out Mysterious Lotus Casebook.
