The Princess doesn't love him. She sees him as a toy, she can't get and is making a tantrum. When you love someone, you can never hurt them in any way. She for sure tried to kill him with that arrow. Luckily he didn't die on the spot but his wound could be infect and he dies, at that time you could die with an infection.
GC was in love with another man and ignored her friends' feelings, but she NEVER hurt anyone to gain his heart. GC had a chance to ruin her friend's wedding, when her friend encounters that guy in the woods but she never said a word. In her shoes the Princess would tell everyone and ruin her.
