No, I'm sorry, but it's getting way too pathetic at this point... She even had the audacity to say that she would…
How is she pathetic? do you remember HOW exactly she rejected him in part 1?
She destroyed his heart into million pieces saying she doesn't care about him enough to leave her family. 2 years have passed, she doesn't know if he has a wife and kids to take care of. How can she ruin his family and then return home like nothing happen. Plus remember going against Qing dynasty is a serious crime., what if he goes there and he's captured as a slave as well? How will he prove she isn't a runaway slave? What exactly should she ask for help?
Like this:
- "Listen JH, I was capture please take all the money that you have and save me" she would have been called Selfish if she did that.
She asked for her husband helped has she should, JH should be her last resource not the first.
Both GC and JH own each other nothing. She stayed in Joseon to protect her family period instead of running away with a man she met months ago and kept saying doesn't want to marry.
One thing this drama doesn't fail to do is showing the reality of wars conflicts on normal/ poor people. In part 1 we saw why JH was so adamant in joining in the war, but he still end up there.
In part 2 JH is saving people, but his shitty Emperor once again instant of trying to save the people and protect them is sitting on his warm throne ruining people's life and demanding protection for himself.
In every war, the ones that pay the full price are the children and women. Women are forced, and even when they can escape they are viewed as dirt and bully by others. The kids will suffer a lot without any protection from adults. This is not just in dramas turn on the TV and you will see this event happening in real life, the sad reality.
The Manchurians had their hairstyles in the queue style, which was a shaven head except for one long ponytail/braid…
Ahhhh ok now makes sense. Thank you so much, some culture aspect go over my head even tho I been watching dramas for +10 years, good to know that I can still learn more.
I think that's only applies if she is to marry to the king. I remember that because of moon lovers.
I also think she had a reason to do it. I have no idea what happen to her, some people are saying she married 2 times and both marriages failed but no more info lool.
I thouth she didn't married the general, she just came home to protect her family but now I'm so confused.
I couldn't get past ep1 that's how bad this drama is
You will understand more about the drama in ep 8 and fall in love with the characters, it was the same for. High school dramas are usually boring for me but after ep 8 I was addicted o this drama.
I don't want to sound rude, but Moving doesn't deserve all of those awards. The only one I can somewhat agree…
Comparing See you in my 19th life to Moving is crazy, story wise that drama was boring plus the "mystery" was poorly handle they should have followed the webtoon at least.
When discussing overrated/ hyped dramas, there are just so many things that needs to be taken in consideration in my opinion such as:
- Time/ year that was launched: Most of the Classic dramas that people rush to called overhyped today, were really popular, because they followed the standard back in the days and that standard was Cold, arrogant, rich and mean ML that treats the gurl he likes like trash only to realize his feelings and starts to protect her, turning into a puppy and people loved to see the transformation of the character. Discussions about Bullying, violence in relationships, self esteem and more were rare and not the included in the plots at all. So when some people watch dramas from the 00's or 10's in 2023, they will not like the story at all and will not understand the hype of some dramas. In 2023 dramas like Playfull kiss, BBF will not get a pass but will be mention all over again because of the nostalgia feeling of that times.
- Age I believe some dramas will only be to your liking if you have a certain age. For example: When a was a teen I watched Secret Garden and My name is Kim Sam Soon. Some years ago I was feeling nostalgic, so I decided to rewatch it...When I tell you, I didn't finish one ep because the main leads were so mean and possessive that made me mad. I couldn't understand why I remember loving this dramas, but I realized that now I'm in my mid 20' so I 'mway more self aware about this toxic behaviours.
- Mood Sometimes the mood for certain genres are just not there and some drama will fell flat and boring.
My overhyped dramas list included : - Vincenzo (20 eps is just too much, same ep everyweek. Real plot start in ep 16) - The king monarch (story had so muchhh potencial but it was bad executed) - Descendants of the Sun ( in the beginning was interesting but after the villan was gone, it became boring and the final was predicable); - Business Proposal ( dropped after ep 2, ML didn't conviced me and story was boring) - Le coup de Foudre (when leads get together the drama became boring, no story line what so ever) - King the land ( cute couple but the story is nothing new plus when they get together the drama is pretty much over) - It's ok not to be okay (all of them need therapy. They trauma bond and the final villain was a dissapointing and too many plot holes that people overlook).
I respectfully disagree with the person below me about Chinese dramas. The Chinese do way better job with strong…
Agree 100%. FLs is Chinese dramas in historical, fantasy or modern dramas are strong and independent. I recently finished Here we meet again, and even tho the drama has some problems one thing that kept me watching was how dedicated and serious the FL was about her job. Also, Eternal love has an amazing female lead that was independent from the get go, to the end. Ruyi's royal love in the palace is also a great example of a drama with a lot of women and even though some of them were bad, stupidity was not the standard.
I'm currently watching, Love like the galaxy, and I'm loving the political part of the drama the most.
Also agree with your comment about Alchemy of souls (finished watching last week) and I was really disappointed about FL's character at the end, she ended up just a love interest for the ML, hated it. Another drama that disappointed me how the FL ended up was Red Sleeve, she was miserable at the end.
As for shows I consider overrated, here is my list:-Strong Woman DBS: main couple is the only charm of this show,…
Another Miss Oh was so bad for me, I finished the drama because of Eric. Female lead screams traumatized me so much that till this day I didn't watch any of her dramas even though she is paired with actors that I like.
Playful kiss is the definition of a toxic drama. My second k-drama and I hated it. Oh Ha Ni doesn't have personality of self esteem at all, and ML's mom gave her the worsts advice EVER. All her live involved around the ML, even when she chose her career was because of him, since he wanted to be a doctor she became a nurse. Didn't have ambition or free will. Some people say the other versions are bad but I can't bring miself to watch this story again.
BFF, don't even make me even start it. My first k-drama and I hated it. The Korean version is bad (my opinion) they over dramatized the original story, FL acting was bad, screams everytime and talks with her mouth open. The Japanese version was made in 2005 and was so much better, FL was actually my working young girl supporting her family, goal oriented and mature. ML was a bully, but his character development was well done. They have the best ending in all the versions (wedding, kids etc.).
As for makjangs, I go for this type of dramas like Penthouse or Sky Castle is because I want to see over the top and unrealistic plots. I Like the mess that comes with it, and at the same time I like the characters more complex neither good or bad, I don't root for them but I also don't care about them so much, I'm just there for the mess to be honest. Is a specific genre of dramas and when people start watching them I believe they should accept it for what it is.

Can't wait for ep 3
I thouth she didn't married the general, she just came home to protect her family but now I'm so confused.
Can't wait to tomorrow episode.
