Novel has very happy ending with wedding and a child bewteen CZ and XYL
If you curious about novel, there are some obvious differences, and the biggest one is CZ characterization she is calm, smart and calculated.
The novel really focus on CZ, and her journey. You do spend 165+ chapter before the events you see in episode 2 when she become "grand princess". Which the novel does a really good job building the world and the political scheme. The support cast you see in the drama exist in the novel and are super well rounded.
romance is a sub plot at best for largely most of the novel until closer to the end. CZ and XYL relationship really start off at bickering couple which overtime developed into more.
as to if it entertaining or not, it hard to say. It definitively not as fast pace as the drama.
Omg. I have never seen such a bad rating. I found this drama quite refreshing despite the main leads missing chemistry.…
the lead doesn't have the type of chemistry probably mainly cause the FL was 16 ish at the time of filming... which does hurt the romance between Chu Qiao and Zhuge Yue in this part of the novel.... I'm not sure how familiar you are with it, but their romance is a large part of the 80+ chapter that Rebirth is supposed to cover
The characterization of Ye Li as a calculated scheming individual seeking revenged is pretty well executed.
She without a doubt a strong female character, but I really like how calm she is to reinforce that archatypes of the smart calculated individual that tackle problem through planning.
Also the parellel between the people at Lishin Academy being falsely accussed and Mo Xiu Yao's brother is a nice touch. Showing that Ye Li does ultimately understand Mo Xiu Yao pain and struggle
I know you are lying because I know what I wrote. I have comments on other people's posts and actually encourage them to watch the drama. Even when I compare the novel to the drama, I explain my position and even say why I understand the change was made.
So again, stop the act, cause when you say, "We get it, you read the novel."
That's really not what you meant, and we both know it.
Second, it a public comments section for those who watch the drama. I.E both of us
Third, you clearly dont know what my comments is about. when I mention episode 7 and 8. Nor do you care, you probably assume "O it different from the novel".... funny enough that not the problem and that why I say it deja vu
Lastly, in both drama and novel adaptations, the most important thing is storytelling. I understand why they changed some of the things they did for the drama. It creates a more engaging CP romance for a broader audience, but at the expense of the story's overall message and themes.
This has happened in other female-centric stories as well, most notably Princess Agents and its less popular sequel, Rebirth. In both cases, changes made to emphasize the romance often weakened the protagonist's personal journey and the themes that originally defined the story.
I’m not sure if I’d call myself a “mom fan” lol, but I am a ZYR fan. I’ve been following this drama…
There is nothing that can be done when a drama adapts a well-known work. The reason why there are so many novel drama adaptations is that it is "safer" with an already existing fanbase of the novel.
It will ultimately draw criticism, however not every novel drama adaptation is inherently worse, for example, I recently watched and read Fate Choose You.
And the drama was vastly superior, and the change in that adaptation was day and night they basically use the lead character name for ML and FL and the rest of the drama cast was 95% made up for the drama and they didn't exist in the novel. Plot-wise, everything was different, and for the better.
But it not just because people want to boil it down to "Because it not like the novel". That's why there are haters, no, that's not the point. Their criticism is that they took a great female-centric story with a strong female lead and turned it into a generic romance-revenge plot.
Xiao Xiang Dong Er , better know as the author for Princess Agent, and the screenwriter for alot of really good drama in the past like The Demon Hunter's Romance, Feud and Fate Choose You and the super sucessful 2019 Love and Destiny
They took someone who delivered this deep emotional line to CZ
"Some people and things in this world, once lost, are gone forever. No matter how much you gain in the future, it can never make up for it."
into what he is in the drama

No wonder it's the same person.
You have a reading comprehension problem.
Have a good day

spare me the performative act

These screenwriters need to be stopped 🙄

Which is fine, I myself do prefer the novel as well. But I also understand that it difficult to adapt 392 chapter into a drama.
CZ in the drama cant hold a candle to CZ in the novel
Maybe a few more episode before episode 1 to show case that wouldn't be a bad idea, but it was condense down to a short monologue
Not saying it's a bad or good thing, just what was changed
