OK, so what is LWY up to now? Is she really being controlled by Jiu Ying???
Cause technically when you think about it JL/LS memories as puppet JL he didn't experiences them . But he still fall in love with LWY after getting those memories from puppet JL
Story wise, she seems to function as a vehicle to showcase Ji Ling’s charm so I don’t expect development which…
I agree with most of what you say.
But "she seems to function as a vehicle to showcase Ji Ling’s charm". The reverse is also true then. Ji Ling's charm/innocent serves as the vehicle for the LWY 9-tailed fox's seductive nature.
And they're so wrong there's so much development about her character. This drama is all about details and some…
I don’t have an issue with any character. I think they’re written the way they are for a reason, and it fits the overall narrative.
Focusing on a single character and saying there’s no development feels a bit short-sighted. It ignores the role that character plays in the bigger picture.
Because at the end of the day, what matters more is what the story is trying to convey to us.
There's just some few hints and that’s not much development to be honest. The other three leads' storylines…
Then how would you approach writing a character who knows they aren’t real?
Her actions in episode 20 already suggest she understands that the memories between her and WWY aren’t truly hers.
So how does a character like that develop?
Because normally, development comes from an anchor in your past, your experiences, your relationships. But if all of it is fabricated, then what is left to build on?
She is desperately trying to hold on to what present, what she is currently experiencing.
It feels like she’ll have some when it’s her arc. Now they’re at HB’s and her sister’s arc. Everything…
We don’t actually know if LWY herself knows she was created. Most of what we understand about her past comes from those flashbacks with WWY. But now it’s starting to look like those memories weren’t even truly hers, or at least not between her and WWY.
So then the question becomes:
What actually defines a character? Is it their memory?
Because if memory is what defines you, then LWY’s entire identity is built on something that might not even be real.
But at the same time… even if those memories were given to her, she still felt them. The emotions, the choices, the attachments—they’re real to her, regardless of where they came from.
So maybe a person isn’t defined by whether their memories are real or not.
Maybe they’re defined by what they do with those memories.
And that runs parallel with LJ and LS. When puppet LJ as LS if he was real
You know they have already given us hints that she has fragments of jiu ying maybe they could make her character…
Sure that could be an approach. But this could run into trouble as dual personality is a result of JY fragments that mean WWY and even WSG could have dual personality
Even if her past memories aren't truly hers, the experiences and feelings that she spent with WWY in the present are still real.
I don't have a problem with people feeling a certain way.
I know I most likely wont convince you other wise. But for those who might be reading the comment section it could sway them one way or another.

I think it foolish to focus on one character and say there no development as that remove the character role in the overall story.

I'm more curious about if they really feel she an empty character. To me that is by design, if you remember when I broke down what JWY name mean
But do you also feel that her character is empty?
I response with another question. What character development to you ?
I just want to know what you would do with the character, given the story so far.
