It was an enjoyable movie, really enjoyed the dynamic between the four main characters and their friendship and I admit the ending is sad but somehow I found that direction in the movie really too easy. I dont know about the Japanese version but here it felt forced, like there was no other choice than doing that to separate Kim Jae Won and Choi Ji Min, especially that there was no sign of Jae Won being sick. That's just my opinion, maybe in the Japanese version it's better done?
you made me start watching this (I'm also currently watching ruyi's and I am low key hating the emperor sjjsjs…
The emperor in Ruyi is dislikable, I couldn't stand his behaviour :/. Happy watching, I hope you'll enjoy Empresses in the Palace as much as I did because it's truly a masterpiece.
Wow I didn't realise there was a guide for Rainie Yang, it is so well written and it's definitely helpful if we want to dive into her dramas ;). Great job to both writers :). And I'm so glad to be able to read your article on your queen, Ari <3. By the way I don't know much about Rainie's songs but a few of them have been on my playlist for years and they're so good.
On episode 23 and I’m liking the drama so far. Deciding to take a break from my historical binge, I started…
Oow that's good to know, I hope you'll enjoy it until the end. I'm looking forward to reading your last thoughts about the drama :). Happy drama watching chingu :p.
You're not alone!! Will never be over this drama and couple. I miss them so much, I really want to see them together…
I feel you, I have never been able either to move from this couple despite what many people said about the female lead (she's as important as our dear Datu ♥). I haven't watched The Sleepless Princess so I don't know about this one, will have to check about this drama ;).
Anime is the best, if you wanna, go for the anime. It will rip your heart
I agree with you, the anime is better but both are so deep and heartwarming. I'm so happy I watched both the anime and the drama. Anyway I found the story so touching that I gave it a 10 which didn't happen for about 5 years, that says a lot ;)
You're not alone!! Will never be over this drama and couple. I miss them so much, I really want to see them together…
Judging from your profile pic I can guess you're not over ;p. I too miss them so much, they both made my days better with their bickering and funny moments :). I don't care what others might say but they definitely belong to my list of fave couples *.*
I don't know how it's possible, I used shazam so many times to find it but only today it worked ahah. Anyway I just love it so much since it's related to one of the funniest scenes of this drama in ep 31 between Shi Yi and Xiao Ju ;).
I discovered Shi Shi through youtube recs since I listen to a lot of Mandarin songs and found her songs for the drama Behind Your Smile (that I didn't watch ahah) particularly beautiful, still listen to them from time to time ;). Really cool to mention about Taiwanese singers btw ;).
Mind blowing, breathtaking and engaging ♥. A drama both frustrating yet fulfilling.
Thus far my favourite drama of 2021, I did expect to enjoy this drama a lot but never thought I would be so attached by the characters and their story, particularly that it was so realistic and I could relate to them that it felt so true and heartbreaking. ♥
Something I could get from that drama is that, it isn't because your parents aren't there to educate you that you might necessarily turn bad, as long as you're willing to learn and to be a proper person you can be someone, someone with values and respect. But yeah Yi Cheng being there for them and watching them also helped a lot in making them wonderful and respectful persons.
It's not because for you those dramas are unwatchable that they have to be unwatchable for others. You're clearly indicating that I have bad taste but anyway I don't mind others' opinions about what I like and enjoy.
Wow, definitely one of the best articles I've read on MDL, great work ;). I can see why Chinese historical dramas are more popular then the Chinese modern ones, I kind of officially started watching Chinese dramas in 2013 (though watched a few before) and it was with Lan Ling Wang, I immediately fell in love with it and wanted to try more of their historical ones (not a fan of xianxias though but I do enjoy some Wuxias) and from then on I never stopped. But I realised over the years that their modern dramas can be really good though at first I wasn't convinced as watched a few bad ones before stumbling upon "Ode to Joy" and then with my current top number one "To Be a Better Man" and noticed how their modern dramas can be real inspirations and greatly well made. So now I watch both historical and modern ones equally. Oh and I never trust ratings here since eventually some of my favourites are neglected here (particularly my dear TBaBM)
And for my own top 10, it's as follows: 1. To be a Better Man ♥ (nothing can surpass this one) 2. Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan 3.Battle of Changsha 4. Lan Ling Wang 5. The Story of Ming Lan 6. The First Half of my Life 7. Ode to Joy 8.Joy of Life 9 A River Runs Through It 10. King of Legend (unpopular one) 11. Secret of Three Kingdoms 12. Remembrance of Things Past (a special mention for the dramas "All is Well" and "Mr. Fighting" which were both really good.)
These songs somehow reminded me of the drama "In a Good Way" in which the story takes place in 1995/1997 and which features many songs from the 90s, it's the only other youth drama that got a 9 from me apart from ARRTI.

Both are so good and bring memories of the drama ♥♥
