I have not even started watching this but are you even surprised, FL is phenomenal actress and if it wasn't for her unique script selection habits. She would at the top of game in "idol" dramas, but she stays in her lane and plays unique characters.

I have watched falling into your smile like 10 times up to this point and you can check mywatchlist, I have watched a lot of Xu Kai dramas and his role in Yanxi palace was best so far.
as for Luo Yun Xi and Allen Ren, you are welcomed to visit their page and see they have worked in more modern dramas as compared to historical.
Allen Ren "Forever and ever" was pretty good !

Xu Kai is the greatest victim here, who didn't get any better roles but LEGENDS like De Niro and Al Panico (whom apart from Xu Kai fanbase not a single person will attack cuz its considered crime against entertainment) are famous cuz of their luck.
Not cuz they had better acting in every aspect, so according to you Allen Ren and Luo Yun Xi are famous purely cuz of luck , not cuz they are better actors, critically acclaimed, take chances with their career and the producers/directors in Chinese entertainment industry are dumb, they didn't know how much of a great actor Xu Kai is, so they went out of their way against their interest to ruin his career.
Xu Kai is the perpetual victim here right but everybody else got lucky and are dumb right !

The real problem here is, if you read my first comment I said guy has potential BUT Xu Kai fanbase is toxic as fuck and they can't take criticism and act like. He is GOD OF ACTING and best in the world, nope he isn't and medium actor at best.
When I mention Luo Yun Xi role, you will see his devil god was completely different from his doctor and you will see great quality in his acting, where minor details like he talks, eat, looks, depth, behaves, emotion and accent will change with every character.
Xu Kai on the other hand brings zero change and its same old boring acting with same emotion and his childish behaviour with FL's. His acting lacks and characters he bought to depth lacks "DEPTH" and that's where problem lies.
I am comparing them cuz both came into prominence at the same time in 2018, Xu Kai become famous with support role in "The story of Yanxi palace" and Luo Yun XI with "Ashes of Love".

Again I am comparing these actors old works, when they were 30 year old to Xu Kai.....for instance Al Picano was 28, when he shot for "THE GODFATHER" and De Niro was under 30, when he shot for "The God Father 2".
Its just one film, majority of their famous work was around this age and I like Jeremy Tusai, Allen Ren and Luo Yun Xi cuz all of them practice "Method acting" like these legends and Luo Yun Xi is willing to cross limits like them to achieve perfection.
as for Bai Lu, Lol she is now far bigger actress than Xu Kai right now and has works with likes of Allen Ren and Luo Yun Xi...her most famous and critically acclaimed works are with these two. Love is sweet with Luo Yun Xi gave her stardom, Allen Ren "One and Only" and "Forever and Ever" maintained it and Luo Yun Xi "Till the end of the moon" sealed the deal and made her the top dog.
Now she has signed with Luo Yun Xi again for another project and now she launches smaller ML's to support their career's.

Yep keep dreaming cuz he is not extraordinary and now I am convinced you guys have not seen anything good, that's why you can't make comparisons.
I recommend you watch films of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, before praising anybody and by doing so, you will learn to appreciate and detect quality work. Xu Kai have limited set of emotions, which he use in every drama and he lacks the ability to transform one emotion to another. The above-mentioned actors practice "Method acting" and you can even detect changer in their accent, voice, walking style, eating habit, life, skin tone and everything.
Xu Kai has the most toxic fanbase cuz the bash critics without any reason....like WTF he has ever done extra-ordinary in his career and people were even blaming Zhou Dongyu for ALP flop.
How delusional someone has to be to target a "critically acclaimed" actress with every award under her belt, and she nearly won OSCAR too.

Well I would like to thank all of you, who shared your kind opinion on "Clown fest" going-on in this drama. I watched episode 1 3 days ago and was planning to binge watch it over the weekend but thanks to your comments.
I refrained from doing that and now after reading todays comments, I will refrain further and look how this stupidity ends...before starting it. Judging from ep 1 ML is perpetual victim and by the looks of it, it hasn't changed at all, and FL find another reason (her stupidity) to torture him.
If there isn't any elaborate apologizing from FL part....I will not watch it at all !

You should check the FL of all the famous dramas, he has ever acted in and you will find they are critically acclaimed actress with numerous international and national awards under their belt (Zhou Dongyu).

First there is something known as "freedom of speech" and no amount shielding your idol or critic bashing is going to hide the truth. He has acted with top dogs (Esther Yu, YZ) in succession and still didn't managed to blow us away with groundbreaking performance.
He is bad, I watched BCE due to YZ, others due to FL's and this one due to Tang Song Yun.....you should check the FL of all the famous dramas, he has ever acted in and you will find they are critically acclaimed actress with numerous international and national awards under their belt (Zhou Dongyu).

Xu kai isn't the only one, who has suffered and all the above-mentioned actors were literally bullied into smaller roles but they never stooped and made it to the top.
I know a lot well respected Chinese critic and editors, who say Xu Kai acting is mediocre at best (my testing standard is considering Robert De Niro and Alfredo James Pacino as Best)....his acting in BCE/SAF6 was no near anything out of this world. You brought up SAF6, then look at the Esther Yu for instance....her growth from "Love between fair and devil" to "Journey to You"....this is known as growth.
Only Xu Kai fanbase is delusional and continuously gave him...fake best of the best medals.
Gold is Gold and it will shine, no matter what you do to it and there is a reason above mentioned actors are famous and critically acclaimed, while Xu Kai isn't !

This isn't fetish character.....he simply can't act. Luo Yun Xi last role was Doc, second last was devil god in ToTEM, 3rd last was male fire-fighter, before that was businessman and scientist before that.

You are trying to tell me that, Luo Yun Xi, Allen Ren and Jeremy Tusi can only do costume drama's. Kid grow up and accept the reality Luo Yun Xi modern roles are far more popular than Xu Kai to this date.
All of the above-mentioned actors modern drama's had better acting and were more popular than anything Xu kai has done to this date.

Guys trust me when I tell you, I am Xu kai well-wisher and I have watched a lot of his dramas and I wouldn't have done that unless I actually like the guy. There is no denying the fact that, he has gotten very comfortable in his skin and refuse to pick new roles. Xu kai had very strong opening of his career but after that, it fizzled out. I personally though we have next Luo Yun Xi, Allen Ren and Jeremy Tusi here but nope he refuses to take risks and pick challenging roles. Take "Till the end of moon" as an example everybody knew Luo Xun Yi is one of the best, if not the best actor in country but he still went on and picked difficult role like Tantai Jin.....before you say, he had no control over the script. He was the majority producer (like 80%)....the point is, I like him that's why I care but he is 29 now about to hit 30. Once he becomes 30, he would be considered direct competitor to above mentioned actors and no offence, he is no way their level.
