I think what bothers me more is how people easily romanticizing red flags and bad behaviour just because the character looks hot & people praise the characters, not the actors.
Pei Zhen never redeem himself imho, it's basically because Zhi Yu left no room for mistake & give PZ no amunition left hence he has to accept his fate, his life is nothing but empty shell. Apologizing is the least he could do but it doesn't erase the trouble & pain he bring to the people he hurted.
People need to stop looking excuse for Pei Zhen. No one is born evil. In real life when people do bad things they'll be deemed as bad person. People won't ask you why you did that, what your reason, etc If you don't want to be deemed as bad person then don't do bad deeds. Understanding is one thing, looking excuse to justify is another thing. Imagine the damage PZ brings to ZY & HX life if ZY wasn't this smart, careful, attentive & protective person. The night when he drunk & barging to HX door is disturbing AF. The thing that he did to sabotage everything ZY has & all that hurtful things he said when ZY has done nothing to him show what kind of a person he is.
