I understand your problem but maybe try to see more from the character's set up pov rather than our modern time pov, I don't think he's 35 either (they never tell us his age, novel has 15 years gap & drama seems even lesser so 30 is max or he's even younger). Also if that doesn't work it seems we'll get 3 years skipped soon so I think they won't get married until she's 18 over if that helps.
