I am very new for ancient drama, it's very slow pace and not realistic anyway see many review here makes me wanna…
I dropped it at ep 7, it's just too slow & boring while neither character, politics, love story I find engaging, everything just felt subpar to me & yes like you said it isn't realistic either, so nothing hold my interest/ I hv no reason to continue watching.
I agree this is more a different genre. I believe this has actually a more realistic and mature take in a way…
Idk, I find this one is just boring, too slow & none of the characters I find engaging. The cp drunk scene (where the FL mutters as if she's drunk when actually she's as sober as day as she heard & aware of everything while speaking all rational) I don't even find natural so it makes me cringe so I drop it at ep 7, I can't force myself to stay for another remaining 17 ep.
For a slow burn, they barely had scenes together let alone grow their bond, while the politics I don't find it thrilling either, characters also so so, either side felt subpar to me. I love realistic, poetic & slowburn drama, I don't mind tragedy, but this one just not it, imo.
My reaction: Melting Squealing Giggling Screaming (when they revealed everything)
This is what I called slow burn done right Chemistry, growing bonding, main leads interaction, all on point. unlike my recently drop drama One & Only, that's just plain 😴
It actually very difficult to say how timelines are there in the novel since it was a machine translated novel...…
Ahh I see, idk if there's no eng translation available for the novel, it'd be hard to tell indeed, thank you! So his hair will become white after the final battle on the heaven realm but it won't be their final scene as their final scene will be at the mortal realm after they all got reincarnated? or do I get it wrong?
To those who hv read the novel, may I know how many timelines do we have here? From the summary it looks like two, the heaven realm with Lord Ying Yuan & mortal realms with Tang Zhou. But from the trailer, it seems there are more? The one with heaven realm, Lord Ying Yuan have two different colors of hair. The other with the stab scene, he hv a different hairstyle so idk if it's Lord Ying Yuan as well or is he his another reincarnated ver? And the more playful character in the mortal realms is Tang Zhou So do we get 4 timelines here?, anyone knows? I don't mind spoiler
Stand by me last three weeks ratings was good.i think u don't know about it.n at the last week this drama was…
I'm not referring to their viewership rating, their viewership rating is high, ik they always get top 3 on weibo throughout their run & top 1 at their final week.
I'm referring to mdl rating, but then again I often find a drama which highly rated on mdl to be boring or subpar, only good in aesthetic/ production value but the drama itself doing nothing to me.
This drama might not hv a high production value, but the acting & the plot is great, with countless schemes & counter schemes from numerous characters that keep you on toes. Here, all the characters hv depth & layered writing with different pov to consider, not plain good or evil, and I appreciate that.
Just came back from watching One and Only but watching OaO ep makes me fell a sleep everytime at how slow & boring it is tho pleasant aesthetic wise (at least until their current 6th ep I watched).
It makes me appreciate Stand by Me more that I decide to drop by here, I still remember how hard it is to wait for SBM newest ep everyday eventhough it was released daily, idg SBM low rating, a very underrated drama indeed.
can anyone share any link or source where to read the novel that has been translated
Idt there's an eng translated ver available, but you can try using google chrome autotranslation to read, the translation is quite good to understand, that's how I finished reading it too.
Ahaha, yes & I don't mind since if we're looking at the novel, they're quite angsty so maybe they want to balance…
Oh really? most of weibo comment I've seen have been full of people who can't wait to hear their airing date so I think the drama will be received well.
As for Yu Xi's acting, tbh I'm not fond of her character/ acting on Intense Love (too overboardly bubbly to my liking), but when I see her on Stand by Me, I think she deliver her emotional scenes really well. Her small body figure might not cut out for martial arts but I think it's pretty common as not everyone was born/ good at it.
Looking from SW trailers, I think ZJ might become Yu Xi's best role to date that will suit her acting the most, as it requires emotional yet subtle acting which she's good at. And tbh, I can't even portray another actress playing ZJ role, ZJ=Yu Xi, she's perfect for this role & you can see that from the trailer.
I also hope she can take more similiar roles like this going forward/ preferrably melo character than romcom's & grow from there.
You know the dramas you mentioned are different genres with this one. ALP was not that slow in my opinion. This…
Ahh I see, I never expect them to be a martial arts wuxia tho, so I'm not dissapointed because of that. In my case I almost fell a sleep during watching the first 4 ep, mostlikely because the ML is currently has been placed outside the palace & he's in the outter circle so I find whatever things happened in the palace right now is rather unimportant to me, let alone all the old & kids character has zero presence nor interesting backstory to my liking 😂.
I like how the FL being muted & find her character interesting/ refreshing since I'm used to see a chatty, bubbly FL & basically I'm still staying to see what the characters might bring to the table. I like the adult crown prince as well & I wonder if he'll become the ML's enemy or teammate later on?
I hope things will pick up soon, otherwise I might put this on hold/ drop & may start FEE instead like you've suggested.
FYS suffered from a fatal car accident that led him having one of his leg being amputated & severe internal organ…
😢 Yun Shen is indeed a quite pitiful character, just like Qi Yan, most of the time he had to suffer the pain from his illness & on top of that, Yun Shen (in the novel) also need to endure the pressure from his mother to meet her demand.
His mother is quite overbearing & mentally unstable at times yet she only have Yun Shen to depend on, so there's no other option for him except feel much obliged to her :'(
Luckily in the drama we'll get to see the healthy, lively Yun Shen before the accident took place, although it'll be heartbreaking to see the stark difference between his former self to the current depressed self as well.
You know the dramas you mentioned are different genres with this one. ALP was not that slow in my opinion. This…
Oh, they aren't wuxia? I thought they are as for a drama that isn't supposed to be a wuxia, they're spending much screentime on the palace politics/ historical (which I'd love to if they're done well, but this one fell short).
I love slowburn drama too but for a slow burn drama, I'd expect them to spent more time on the main leads interaction to show their growing bonding, which I don't get either as the ML went away most of the time & it's even unclear what things the FL shd learn from the ML & they spent too much screentime on the side characters that I don't even find interesting.
I thought they'll be more fully pack & all rounder given they only hv 24 ep, but since you said things will pick up by ep 7, I'll try to stick through to that ep & see from there, thanks!
PS: oh forever & ever have a faster pace? Nice to hear that, thank you for letting me know :)
Unpopular opinion, I just started this & currently at ep 4 but I find they're so slow like things are barely happening tho they're pleasing aesthetic wise. Will it gets better later? On which ep the story picks up?
Is it common for cdrama to hv a slow starter like this? I felt this way with ALP too & it makes me appreciate more drama like Love and Redemption & Stand by Me which hook me from the get go with manythings unraveling from the start.
FYS suffered from a fatal car accident that led him having one of his leg being amputated & severe internal organ…
He does, since in the novel one of his leg is amputated, he's either use his wheelchair or his fake leg (I don't remember what was the term for it 😅) to walk when he had a better condition.
But from the trailer I think they keep FYS leg in the drama (not being amputated), so maybe FYS condition in the drama can be healed. They seem to make the drama to be lighter than the novel 🤭.
I request any kind soul who read the novel to summarize the story. I don't mind the spoilers. Let me know do they…
FYS suffered from a fatal car accident that led him having one of his leg being amputated & severe internal organ damage that forced him to hv undergone a lot of surgery. He's in his lowest & darkest point of his life, until ZJ came to him (FYS friend, Leo brings ZJ to be his part timer to help).
Her personality is like a ray of sunshine who gives the warmest light to the depressed FYS. Little by little south wind blows his heart, he's opening up & they fell for eachother. FYS help ZJ, always be there for her & they had for eachother in that foreign land. As ZJ reached her 21st birthday, FYS proposed to her & they're married at Heidenberg, with his aunt present as their witness (FYS doesn't get along with his mom who stayed in China). Their marriage is a bliss, sweet & they live happily until a man who's obsessed at ZJ can't accept her being married to a disable man & beated FYS while making his attempt to assault ZJ infront of him.
FYS almost died from it & his mother was furious at ZJ and forced FYS to seperate with her (FYS mom is quite a lot to handle). That accident make FYS realized his limidity, how with his current condition, he can't protect her & letting her go is the best option for her, so they got divorced.
Years passed & ZJ was about to get married when Leo came to her, ask her to visit FYS as he's having a serious condition, later she learns from Leo that even when they're apart, FYS went to various place risking his life, to save/ help her. She can't let FYS go, so then she came to him for another chance (& cancelled her wedding).
FYS condition is kinda always in the brink of death that forced him to push her away everytime. Later, ZJ finally decide to let him go, tho both of them know how they love eachother deeply, there's a heartwrenching conversation when ZJ asking multiple question to FYS if he can come & help her, do everything, anything for her and all his answer is yes, except for one, when she ask him if they can be together. She realized that she can't forced their love and be a burden to him. & it's enough for her to know he's alive, living in the same world with her. She then moved to Suriah, as a medist, and while being there, she keep sending FYS her letter, until she went missing & suffer from a mental trauma.
FYS can't stand still & realized how precious it is to lived & be together with your loved ones no matter how long or short it is, so he rushed to see her. He make up his mind & determine to cherish his moment & living his life to the fullest with ZJ & make his effort to do so. They lived together at the end, it's a happy ending after all hardship they've gone through.
I am still crying whenever i read his sentences and much worst when i see his pictures or even watch the videos.…
True, me too, thought I was prepared for his death before watching the final ep, but turnsout I was ugly crying throughout the ep 😂 The last ep is a tear jerker & Qi Yan really has the saddest life 😭 I'm just relieved to see he got the chance to see the lantern festival w/ Yu Er tho it's shortlived 🤧
Yes, I guess he can't refuse to drink his daily poison & when he got the chance to bribe the eunuch, it's already far too late. I was thinking he seems to hv suffered from lung infection since he keeps coughing blood but it doesn't occur to me that it was came from his overdose highmed, poor Qi Yan, had to suffered both external & internal injury as very well mental & mind, hence why he feel so tired & abused 😭
For a slow burn, they barely had scenes together let alone grow their bond, while the politics I don't find it thrilling either, characters also so so, either side felt subpar to me. I love realistic, poetic & slowburn drama, I don't mind tragedy, but this one just not it, imo.
