The main storyline from novel is in ep 16/17 of drama. I recommend watching drama for the more details storyline of shanggu and baijue though, the beginning is slow but it's totally worth it once everything makes sense ^^

Some people comment either on facebook or Instagram if you want to watch to current eps with good sub. Otherwise you can watch on YouTube with VPN set to any Asian countries, although it's only sub to ep 16.

It's ok if you want to make comparison, I just don't see why since it's so different from yanxi palace. I think the acting is good, even if most of the actors/actresses are younger compare to those in yanxi palace. In term of characters, xukai and wu jinyan characters in royal feast are much more layers compare to their characters in yanxi palace. Actors get criticism all the time, both xukai and wu Jin Yan were criticized for their acting in yanxi palace also even if they did well in their roles, so you can't satisfy everyone. I'm still not catching up to current ep, but I'm liking their acting so far.

Two completely different dramas, why do you even compare the two. The two characters they played in yanxi palace are different from their characters in royal feast. I consider their acting better in royal feast than yanxi palace actually.

Lots of dramas lately don't have good English sub, I wonder why? Even if the YouTube sub for royal feast is slow, it's still better than watching bad sub.

Both, anyway thanks for answering back. The cooking in royal feast looks like the actresses also learn to prepare the food to make it realistically. They did a good job, I could tell the cooking was done by professional, but not sure whether the preparation were done by the actresses or not ^^

I wonder if she is using the same tactic like in yanxi palace, playing hard to get. This is a power move by women in those days in other to be different from other women surrounding him I suppose, matron hu used to say to her to survive in the palace you have to show that you're different, I'm just wondering here.

I'm only up to ep 15, I'm liking the attention to the food making process, but I can see how many who don't care about the food theme might not like it, since the focus is not always on the main couple, also the side characters has lots of screen time. However i think xukai has more screen time in this drama compare to court lady, so I'm ok with how it's going.

If anyone is a Zhang nan's fan, she also has another drama out with the title my love and stars beside royal feast ^^

You must love the food theme drama then, which one do you think would be the best to watch if you're into the food making process, as well as has a good plot.

I don't think she in charge of the medicine, she in charge of the cooking, she has to follow the menu prescribed by the physician for a pregnant woman. But I agree, the ingredients for foods can have different effect for each individual, and can cause adverse effects if given wrongly.

It's not just xukai with dark circles under their eyes. I think these actors are really hard working, I notice in most of his drama, he has dark circles under his eyes, not just this one. Those food are so mouth watering just hearing the names, I love all the food preparation into making the dishes ^^

The emperor is so foolish, his wanting a child has trepadize his wife's health, a misdiagnosis could cause her more harm than good. What happens if she died because of their misdiagnosis, their lives would be in danger if they cause the empress's death too, as well as the people in the food service who cooked for her, is that why matron hu made zi jin the one to cook for the empress, so she will be blame if anything happens to the empress?

It does seems to work. She is like by everyone, even someone who tried to kill her before has becomes her best friend. She has two handsome guys interested in her, her character is very mysterious since her identity is still unknown, I only watched to ep 15. For ancient Chinese era, to be ladylike is to be soft spoken, to be gentle in manners, and keep calm in any situations, I think those things are taught from a young age to many noble women.

In ep 14, finally zhan ji became crown prince, it's known that zi Jin was selected to be zhan ji's consort so what happens. Is it because of her mother identity as an entertainer, so even after her mother committed suicide, she still got rejected? As a result she resent the royal family, and rather become a cook instead? Matron meng gotten back her position, that was fast, I assumed she gotten help, although I like her more than matron hu, she even let her best friend takes the fall for her. I thought she was nice before when she helps zi jin, but she's very ambitious, she doesn't hesitate to kill zi Jin in order to help her sister and family advance. Zi Jin is too nice, so unlike yingluo from yanxi palace, she won't forgive so easily when she knew that person meant her harm.

The empress is really sick, and doesn't looks like she is pregnant. I'm glad zi Jin told the crown prince, and he believes her. Why are those physicians diagnosed her wrong though, is there a conspiracy to kill the empress?

I love the beginning, so i like that it take it's time to develop all the major characters. It's only after watching them go through hardship, that I feel attached to these characters. Baijue and shanggu love is really tragic, but in the end love conquers all, and they finally got their happy end. The end of the drama is the same from the novel, but agree with you, they could have add more scenes of them with their child that would've been a better ending.

I think in life, some people don't put love as the most necessary thing to have, so I understand chang qin, once he loss her trust he could not get it back, and I respect her for sticking to her own principle. In my opinion, baijue attracts to shanggu for her youth and liveliness, and for shanggu her smile shows her happiness, and I don't fault her, if you're around your crush every day, how can you not smile. She's much younger than baijue so she can't help but show all her feeling, while baijue consider love as secondary to his duties as true God, so he doesn't acknowledge his love for her until he was confronted by her. Their chemistry develops more gradually, but it still strong.

Tianqi and yuemi has their own story written by the author, maybe some day it can be adapt into a drama ^^

Yeah I'm attracted to the food porn and the CP, and hope for a good end ^^

I really like the food theme of course, but I'm just wondering if anyone watch all three dramas in a row.
