I avoid shows with this kind of ending, but I’ve rewatched this multiple times and I’ve teared up each time, but I keep coming back for the high quality. It’s one of those shows that achieves near perfection, from script, casting, directing, performances, music, production value, sets, wardrobe, pacing, editing, etc… it’s a perfect storm.
It’s also the most believable enemies to lovers story I’ve ever watched.
This show can be released today as is and still be highly rated. It’s as perfect as a show can get.
As dailies go the overall story idea is okay, but the casting seriously hampered it from the get go.
The male leads were especially weak, the ML was not the least bit masculine, the SML was forgettable.
The FL character design was not consistent, the writer couldn’t seem to decide whether she was strong and determined or weak and unsure.
Because of poor scriptwriting, In the 3rd act the FL was pretty much sidelined, also leads lacked chemistry and the romance was thoroughly lacking. I got the impression that the lead actress is married and the lead actor doesn’t like kissing scenes so the romance was cut from the script.

I like heirs, lie to me has a good story idea, but the execution was schizophrenic, because the concept of a rich man/poor woman is timeless but the modern twist feel flat.
I wish Choi Yoon So & Oh Ji Eun would pick better characters and or projects, or maybe there plan is to be mediocre and not get to famous and avoid the limelight.

Watch this only with complete suspension of basic common sense. By the way no one gets revenge, you are expected to just sing kumbaya together with the baddies.
