OMO. I didn't realise it was only 12 episodes. No wonder the plot is not dragging out. I don't think of the age gap at all because for me, YH is still that naive young girl who has been isolated from the public since she was 'widowed' . She has no knowledge of male and female relationships and I think Yeon Seon knows a lot more than her. HAHA. Looking forward to how things pan out and that new guy is going to be a blast and add to the comedy, no matter who he is.
I think it is important to remember she is a widow in name only. She never even met her deceased husband. Sometimes I think Yeon Seon is more worldly and mature than her and therefore a good match for Yoon Hak, even with the age difference.
I highly doubt they will go down the ML and FL are siblings trope here. She should be able to recognise her own brother. I think her brother is off on the secret mission to discover what happened to the previous king (as his son, the current king is trying to investigate) 15 years is a very similar timeline. I feel that Yeo Hwa's husband met a suspiciously timed end so could her brother have a hand in this. Widows at that time were not treated well and it was deplorable how the two widows are now tools to get this 'chastity gate' Sigh. It was the sign of the times.
I have a feeling that many people like this drama precisely because it is not over 100 episodes. Daily dramas get repetitive with the plot to drag out the story. As some have mentioned here, DG's family (minus his brother) is a godsend who supports his choice of bride. How many toxic in-law relationships have we gone through in many daily dramas? At most, I would have loved 16 episodes. At this point, the plot is moving swiftly and I love how it's like a tennis match where it looks as if the baddies are winning but then our leads are fighting back. The late reveals about the break-in, the realisation that Yura had played him (SHyeok) for a fool and the apology. I can't wait to watch the female characters (especially on YJ's side) showing that they can fight back as well as the bad b*t*hes.
Hmm.. I feel that it is not exactly the same as the webtoon but I am enjoying the drama tremendously. Yoo Ra and her mom needs to be taken down and Se Hyeok is a spineless wimp who has a fetish for more dominant women. Let's go Episode 8!
Ended up reading the light novel as well. The movie is a mish-mash from Book 1 and the ending in the movie is as it happened in Book 1 too. There really was so much more to explore but the pacing about Miyo and her powers appeared more quickly in the movie. I think I may need to read Book 2 (onwards) to understand the last battle scene in the movie.
Watched the anime first and then the movie. So I think it helped me fill in the gaps within the storyline. Of course the plot moved quickly in the movie and this is why I wish for at least a 10 episode drama. I would also love to see the development of the relationship between Miyo and Kiyoka and how Miyo's power coalesced and ended up being able to destroy the grotesqueries. Now I am off to read the light novel. PS. I hope that the (movie) sequel will come to fruition too. So much more to explore!

I also felt a tad irritated with the anime character of Miyo - too helpless and pitiful I suppose- and I much prefer the movie version. Well. What a drama! I was invested from the very first episode and the twist and turns. And yes, the ghost is very tricky - to believe or not to believe. The ghost was all out in survival mode and did everything to survive, i.e. remain in the living world. I think we know enough about the ghost to realise that even though it was pitiful how her life came to be, but it also began from her greed. The shaman could recognise that greed and only realised too late that she had created something which could not be controlled. The ghost would have continued latching on to any human, because let's face it, we are full of greed and desires too. A great story which now begs a rewatch to catch the earlier nuances I feel I may have missed from the beginning.
Totally enjoying the slow unravelling of this mystery with the long haired ghost. Just when I couldn't be more scared, Ep 10 happens (when San Young ran off to look for water). Still a lot of questions over HaeSang's grandmother's role and the link to that girl from the middle school. What actually went wrong?
