Like I said, I rated Revenged Love an 8. I'm not about to faint over the rapey issues, I think people should be able to talk about the problematic parts.

You come across really patronizing. "Lets be clear...lets be consistent..." You talk about this being fiction like people don't understand the concept. You talk about the gang rape scene not being explicit, like that changes things. You talk about what iffs like that is relevant when the message was clear. You don't seem to realize that ordering a gang rape can in fact get you charged with said gang rape and therefore makes you a rapist. You talk as if people don't analyse and criticize fictional content worldwide.

You really think saying ,"Characters are not real. Actors aren’t their roles. Viewers are capable of understanding that." is somehow profound and a conversation stopper.

The OP was giving their opinion about fictional content, with full awareness it's fictional, because that is what people do, all the time, all over the world.

This particular show isn't that evil coded, that is why the casually presented gang rape feels so out of place here. There are levels to ruthless and evil and this show and that scene do not jive together.

This male lead CC in this show, might be ruthless, but he is not that evil coded, not even to the level of Vegas from KinnPorche. That is why the casual rape order is so jarring and generally a stupid choice by the production team.

People have talked about it. It was not smart to put that scene in the show. Some people cannot tolerate a critical discussion on this subject. They think if you like something, you have to excuse the bad parts and even defend them. That is an unhealthy way to look at the world and will lead to trouble. I like the show and I will watch it, but that part was especially tone deaf.

Yes, the rapist part is a let down. Some people here are all or nothing, and think if you like a show, you have to excuse bad parts and not be critical. That is a harmful and dangerous way to approach anything in this world. I hope they grow up and learn to do better.

Ugh. I have to mention My Secret Love, a Thai show that has a very similar blurb and title.

This series is an allegory, a story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
This one is about Heteronormativity the belief that heterosexuality is the default, preferred, and normal expression of sexuality, and that it is the only natural or normal form of sexual orientation.

It's fitting that she is a ghost that refuses to let go, just like heteronormativity is like a ghost that refuses to let society free itself from it's control. The girl sees her boyfriend through a heteronormative lense. She doesn't see the clues that say she is not the one he is interested in, but as she takes the form of the boy, her heteronormative view is taken down piece by piece. She sees that she is not the person her boyfriend is interested in and that she doesn't actually want to force that connection with him, it isn't in anyone's best interest, denial of homosexuality makes all involved miserable, the straight people as well as the gay.

I think the rating of this show is way too low!
