Damn, that took fan to a whOOOle nother level! You see, my mum always taught me not to do stuff like that because…
Taking something to another level means to do something more or better than average. That's the literal definition. Do you think the average fan is buying estates for an actor? No. In my case, it means that what they are doing is far more than what an average fan does. And 'damn' is used to describe my surprise. It is not meant to be condescending, and if it sounds as such to you, perhaps just ignore it because I've spent the past three messages explaining the contents of my comment. Take it or leave it. I see no problem with my opinion and "grow up" is not going to change it.
Another voice of reason and a much needed reality check.Thank you.
Even poor American citizens that completed high school have a hard time making ends meet (I've watched a lot of poverty documentaries). I can't imagine how hard it must be for uneducated foreigners.

Definitely agree. If it was real life, that would absolutely be a scam. I'm sure he'd be better off in Thailand, the US isn't all that much kinder to the penniless.
I do feel sympathy for Alan, but he's an asshole imo for not letting Jim get a loan simply because his ex likes him. Especially when it's not really Jim's fault, he didn't know that Alan and Wen had a thing going. Super unprofessional.

I was not insulting them, or I wasn't trying to insult them. Referencing my original comment, "That's just "us" though, other people can do whatever they want". I've said multiple times that I don't care what other people do, but I can not do it myself, and find it odd that other people do. Just like someone might find certain games pointless, while other love it. It's just an opinion.
And for your example, I was not telling people to "not entertain these thoughts". Not at all, in fact I quite explicitly said people can do what they want. And as for not questioning peoples choices, honestly, questioning something you don't understand is quite a normal thing to do. I never insulted anyone, I never said don't do it, I just said why my mum told ME not to. Me, not anyone else. Just to be clear, in case I wasn't before, I don't care what people do and I don't care what they like, that's their life. I might however say why I personally don't do something. It's not preaching, it's sharing an opinion. Your comment did not explain why someone might spend tons of money on strangers in that way, and that would have been far more insightful for me than *basically* telling me to be quiet. If it had, perhaps my response would have been different .
I see that neither of us will change each others minds, so there is no need to continue chatting. Thanks for the exchange :)

If that's your opinion, sure.
And like I said, people can do whatever they want, spend it wherever they want and on whoever they want, but I don't have to think it's right. I can absolutely say that I don't agree with the logic of it because I was never really into fan culture in the first place. For example, a man might spend his money on porn, just because he likes it and it's a source of happiness for him, do I have to agree with it? Absolutely not.
Thank you once more for this *valuable* exchange.
