Congratulations! Your article is brilliant. I enjoyed reading it. You put a lot of work and afford in it. I really…
Thank you very much for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed the text. I think I've heard about Under one roof but have not seen it yet. I will try to write at least one more "what-if" text in the future.

Growing up in Eastern-Europe during the Communist regime, we were introduced a lot of Czech TV series and movies.…
Thank you @BarbaraEkler and @mjf314 for recommendations. Will definitely check out Jirzi Menzel's films.

Ok, that was mean of you to get me all intrigued, only for me to then realise I can never watch this because:…
I did not want to be mean intentionally, Annie. I realise that lack of Eng subs is an obstacle but I did not want this to prevent me from writing the article. Maybe in the future, when I will happen to have lots of free time, I may translate the TV show to English.

In the meantime, I hope that this short summary will satisfy you.

As I mentioned in the article, Anna starts the work as a shop clerk and obviously interacts with her co-workers. At the shop, she meets Karel and they gradually hit it off. The ex-husband is nowhere to be seen until he comes back all of a sudden and remploys psychological terror on Anna to form "happy family" image back again. Anna attempts to continue the affair with Karel but is unable to do so because of the children who also put pressure on her.

In the final episodes, we see that ex-husband still continues to do affairs but Anna is unfazed by that. She suffers for the good of her children. However, when ex-husband is requested to pick up the son from a hokey game, he does not do that (he lies he did so). Conseuqently, the child is escorted home by the police and the true image of ex-husband is revealed to children. The daughter immediately takes Anna's side and wards her father off the apartment.

In the final scene of the series, Anna is having Christmas Eve with her children. As a gift, she receives a shell from seaside. The daughter explains that this is a gift from someone very dear to her. When Anna looks out her window, she sees Karel in a car She rushes downstairs, the two fall into passionate embrace. The end.

oh my gosh, I though your description for the show Arabela seemed familiar and I looked it up. It is the show…
I've put a link in the article to The Woman Behind The Counter on YT without the subs. I agree about Vladimír Mensík, he was such a great actor.

I have seen Návstevníci (released in my country under the title Visitors), and I admit that it is a very good sci-fi flick. A bit of crossover between Space Odyssey and Back to the Future with strong Eastern European 80s vibes; however, the pacing was a bit off the wall.

Wow this was amazing! The fact that this movie is so old gave me goosebumps haha and the casting is very accurate,…
Thank you very much for approving the casting choices :)

Czech here born and bred. I saw the headline and did a double take thinking you can’t be possibly talking about…
I was hoping for the feedback from Czech MDLers, so thank you for the positive comment. Žena za pultem and Nemocnice na kraji města are my fave Czechoslovakian productions.

What a fascinating read! I've been introduced to Polish shows before from MDL friends but not Czech and definitely…
Aw, thank you so much for (as always) brilliant observations, WandereR!

I know it is wishful thinking, but I would love to see FujiTV or TBS picking up this idea and turning it into a J-Drama :)

Yeah, Masahru Fukuyama is so underrated, especially his voice.

Thank you for reading!

I love your cast ideas and I hope you will be hired as a movie director in Japan! I'm looking forward for you…
Thank you for such kind words :) This series really moved me and I would love to see it as a J-Drama. I will try to wrote more of "what-if" series if I happen to have more ideas..

lol... before your article is published I searched online what The Woman Behind the Counter is but didn't come…
Well, the TV show is relatively unknown outside the Czech Republic, which was partially the reason why I decided to write about it. Thanks for reading, Cho Na!

Thank you for nice recs and spreading some positivity about Peninsula. The movie is not perfect, but still, it's an entertaining flick.
