The Lotus Blooms Late

Mysterious Lotus Casebook is about the journey of physician Li Lianhua and rookie detective Fang Duobing as they solve cases that gradually reveal their past stories.

Mysterious Lotus Casebook was my first wuxia drama, so I didn’t really understand the universe in the first few episodes. For me, the cases felt boring and didn’t make much sense. It wasn’t until episode 7 that the story started picking up, the cases became interesting, the plot thickened, and the chemistry and comedy really hit.

As a 40-episode series, I felt some draggy plots at times. But overall, the script is strong. The action scenes are great, and the visuals are pleasant to watch. The highlight is absolutely the Li Lianhua character, a genius who’s also cynical and Cheng Yi did an amazing job in this role. The bromance among the two with Di Feisheng is fun too, and the most entertaining cases are when all three of them solve it together.

Overall, it’s not a heavy watch and very enjoyable

"Be Yourself, That's the Coolest Thing"

Be Yourself follows the story of four girls from room 5438 across their four years of college. The series consist 24 eps, each 6 eps covers the story from one year on college.

Be Yourself actually feels quite personal and nostalgic for me because of how accurately they captured dorm life, the way I experienced it myself. One thing I notice is the dorm/room setting arrangement doesn’t feel too artificial like in some other Cdramas, but it’s still comfortable and pleasant to watch.

The plot feels so real, from dorm life to college struggles, like adapting & dealing with friendships, love, family, and figuring out who they really are. It’s simple, not overly dramatic but the emotions and vibes are really there.

The thing I want to complain about is how they solve problems. They often try to wrap up one plotline in a single episode, so some conclusions feel rushed. It makes me think, “It’s just like that?” and it doesn’t always feel realistic. That also makes the series ending feel a bit bland because I was hoping for more character development from the girls. The best character development belongs to Zhang Ruonan’s character.

The four girls’ chemistry as roommates is the highlight of the show. They have very different personalities and backgrounds, which makes it fun to watch. They bicker but also help each other grow. One day they might hurt each other, but the next day everything feels fine again. The love lines also feel realistic to me, not every couple ends up together, but that’s reality, sometimes you have to choose your future over romance.

Overall, it’s not perfect, but it’s absolutely enjoyable.

Light, Funny, and Full Power

I Am Nobody follows the journey of Zhang Chulan, an ordinary young man who enters the hidden world of "Outsiders" (people with extraordinary powers) to uncover the truth behind his grandfather's mysterious death. Along the way, he meets Feng Baobao, a enigmatic girl searching for her real family and origins.

This isn't usually my go-to genre, but the great reviews convinced me to give it a try. The first few episodes (1–3) felt a bit rushed and hard to follow, with everything moving too quickly. But once I got a clearer grasp of the plot, it became really enjoyable watch.

The plot is excellent, they do a great job explaining the universe and its rules. There are tons of characters, each with unique superpowers, which adds so much fun and variety. That said, the main characters, Zhang Chulan's superpower journey aren't explored deeply enough for my taste, but since this is only Season 1 and more seasons are planned, there's plenty of time to dive deeper in the future.

This season mainly focuses on Zhang Chulan's personal journey, introduces the world of Outsiders through various characters' backstories, and reveals parts of his grandfather's past. The comedy lands really well, it's witty and quirky without feeling forced. The action scenes are top-notch. The CGI is amazing overall, making the powers and fights look impressive. For acting, Wang Yinglu stands out the most as Feng Baobao, she nails the character's mysterious, emotionless yet captivating vibe perfectly.

Overall, it's a light and easy watch, kind of slow-paced at times but super enjoyable and entertaining

You Can Believe in Fairytale

The Bad Kids follows three children who accidentally record a murder scene and choose to get involved with the killer, blackmailing him for money to solve their own problems.

Right from the start, the series hits hard with a shocking murder attempt unfolding in a clear and calm atmosphere, completely at odds with the violence. It sets the tone perfectly for the next 12 episodes, and it delivers, I stayed thrilled the whole way through, even though the show keeps an unexpectedly bright overall vibe.

Unlike most psychological thrillers I've watched that lean into dark, moody lighting and slow-heavy pacing, The Bad Kids feels bright and almost sunny despite its still slow paced. Many of the key murder scenes play out in broad daylight. The coastal countryside setting is captured so beautifully, adding layers of visual contrast to the dark events.

This sense of contradiction runs through the main characters too. We're left constantly questioning if these are truly "good kids" or secretly "bad kids." The young actors are phenomenal, they nail the innocence, and the chilling glimpses of "evil" acting.

The plot is solid and well-constructed, with a strong emphasis on how broken family situations shape children's lives and push them toward some terrible choices. It drags a little in the middle, but the momentum holds up. I found the kids' desperate need for the money a bit unconvincing at times. The ending felt somewhat weak on my first watch, but after diving into other viewers' theories and analyses, I now think the creators did great for that, especially with the layered, open-to-interpretation way it wraps up. The "Fairytale" type of ending is perfect choice for the cruel reality the kids faced on the entire series.

Light yet Enchanting

Moonlight Mystique follows the journey of Bai Shuo, a human clan, and Fan Yue, the Demon Lord, as they collect all five emotions for the Wu Nian Stone.

This is my first xianxia drama that I've actually finished. I'm not usually into costume dramas or the fantasy genre in general. I've tried some popular xianxia dramas before, but the stories were too hard to follow, so I dropped them all. Moonlight Mystique was different for me, the story is light, easy to understand, and beginner-friendly. The conflicts are clear and not overly complicated.

Another thing I noticed is how pretty everything looks, the costumes, settings, and CGI are all great, colorful, and visually stunning.

I also love the message the drama conveys, no matter your origin, you're the only one who can decide who you want to be.

Overall, this drama has some flaws here and there, but it's still really enjoyable to watch

Short but Impactful

To the Wonder follows Li Wenxiu as she returns to her hometown in the small city of Altay, on the border between China and Kazakhstan. There, she rediscovers life and figures out the dreams she truly wants to pursue.

What makes To the Wonder truly stand out is its breathtaking cinematography and rich cultural portrayal. The way they capture the beauty of northern Xinjiang's countryside is absolutely amazing. Mountains, rivers, forests, and summer ranch all look so pleasant to the eyes. The series also beautifully incorporates Kazakh culture and traditions, especially the nomadic lifestyle. Set in 2001, it really captures that authentic traditional vibe.

Beyond the visuals, the story is quite solid. We follow each character's decisions about their lives from chasing love, fighting for their dreams, navigating the tension between human emotions and tradition, and ultimately choosing their own best path. It's sometimes heartbreaking but also heartwarming. All the actors deliver strong, and heartfelt performances.

Overall, To the Wonder is a beautiful 8-episode miniseries. It's short but impactful. The feelings it leaves behind linger in your heart long after it ends.

Is It Really Worth It?

The Long Night follows a detective team in 2010 as they investigate a murder case that uncovers a much bigger cold case from the year 2000.

The drama presents three parallel timelines: the crime's origin in 2000, a determined group's attempt to reopen the case in 2003, and the present day (2010) when murder of one character from that earlier effort in 2003 happen. This non-linear structure peels back layers of the mystery one by one, keeping the suspense intense and make me hooked.

The core case is incredibly intriguing, and the storytelling builds curiosity perfectly. The script is solid, though some of the plot are unrealistic. Acting is top-notch all around, but it's a shame the woman detective gets so little screen time, her character could have been amazing with more development. Unfortunately, the finale feels rushed and wraps things up too quickly.

Overall, it's still worth to watch.

A Gripping yet Frustating Watch

Doubt is about a top profiler father who starts suspecting that his high school daughter might be involved in a mysterious murder case.

Doubt is quite slow paced, and the very dark lighting makes it really hard for me to watch sometimes. But aside from that, the case itself is super intriguing. The acting between the father and daughter is outstanding, and the tension between them is amazing.

At its core, the drama wants to show how deeply parents love their children and will go to any lengths to protect them even when they think the kids make serious mistakes. But the real message seems to be that the most important thing parents should do first is actually listen to and believe their own children.

Unexpectedly Heavy Yet Emotionally Entertaining

Twelve Letters follows the story of two young people in 1991 who meet as classmates, fall in love, and promise to face all difficulties together. In 2026, other people meet because their lost parents seem connected to each other. The "couple" from those two era later communicate through letters sent via a mysterious mailbox. They try to uncover what happened in 1991 and prevent a tragic event happening.

At first, I expected it to be just a usual fantasy melodrama, but from episode 1, we're already shown heavy topics including domestic violence, gang fights, and other social issues. The series progresses really slowly, but it unfolds every layer of the mystery very well, keeping me intrigued throughout. The plot is solid and the story is really hits hard emotionally, but for me it's not too difficult to watch, they also include some cute banters that made me smile. The ending was great as well.

The cinematography is amazing, capturing different sides of China beautifully, the rivers and mountains in 1991, and the Beijing winter scenes in 2026. The cast's acting is superb, I felt every of their emotion, the leads' conversations feel both sad yet heartwarming.

Overall, it was something unexpected for me at first, but after finishing it, my mind felt blank and my heart still hurts. Definitely worth watching.

The Best in This Kind of Genre

Mr. Queen is about Bong-hwan, a modern-day chef whose soul gets trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon era after an accident. The story follows his journey as he tries to find a way back to his own time while also helping the king defend his throne.

This "soul-trapped in ancient era" trope is quite common, but Mr. Queen handles it exceptionally well. The drama skillfully balances the comedy of Bong-hwan’s awkward interactions and adaptation with the serious drama of palace politics. The plot remains engaging and fits perfectly into 20 episodes without feeling dragged out.

The early episodes of Mr. Queen focus mainly on comedy, and Shin Hae sun absolutely shines in her role as the queen with a man's soul inside her body. Her character’s body language, way of speaking, interactions, and gradual adaptation to the new environment are brilliantly portrayed and genuinely hilarious. I really loved her banter with her two maids, they're really cute together. Since Bong-hwan’s original job was as a chef, cooking scenes appear here and there throughout the first half of the drama although it's not much but it's still fun especially her relationship with head cook at the palace kitchen.

The supporting cast delivers great performances too, and the chemistry between the characters feels natural. My only real complaint is the ending, it could have been written much better. But overall, though, it’s still a very enjoyable watch.

It's Okay to be THIS Good???

It's Okay to Not Be Okay is about the Moon brothers, who constantly move from one place to another to escape their own trauma. On the other hand, there's Ko Moon Young, a writer often called as a psychopath. They heal each other and eventually become like a "family."

First off, it's really, really pretty from the very start. The animation in the prologue is beautifully visualized. The castle, the Moon Young style, the fairytales book, everything is beautifull. I also love every fairytale they tell, each one carries a good and meaningful message. As an adult, I used to think fairytales were just for kids and didn't care much about them, but this series actually taught me a lot.

The directing is amazing too, every scene is shot so beautifully. The series gives off an eerie vibe at times, but it later becomes so healing and comforting. The acting is outstanding, especially Seo Yea-ji and Oh Jung-se, who are incredible. Kim Soo-hyun and the rest of the cast are great as well. The plot is solid overall, though for me, the writing could've been done better in some parts.

Still, I absolutely love the core message, "to face your trauma instead of avoiding it".

"Romantic" Medical Drama

Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim is about Kim Sabu, the genius doctor who exiled himself in small hospital on countryside.

Actually, I watched this at the past on my friend's laptop and didn't finish it so I rewatched again two days ago. Ten years late and I really feel the old vibe kdrama. How the story progessed and every character portrayed are very 2016s.

What I love the most is how they capture the "intense" vibe from the hospital emergency unit. Every patient also has its own story and every case is unique especially for me as a muggle. I learn a lot.

The plot and acting is good. The writing could've been done better. Not really fan about the politics and the higher ups plot. Also I hope the better development for some characters.

Otherwise it's still fun to watch. Maybe cause this drama hold a good memories for me or what but I still really enjoyed it

Solid as Legal and College Life Drama

Law School tells the story of a murder in the law faculty of Hankuk University that involves the students and professors there. The series follows one big murder case involving one of the professors across all 16 episodes, but it also includes various smaller cases and court scenes along the way.

What I love about this series is the friendship and college life aspects. How they help each other with their problems from the college exam to each other "court" problems. Each character also has their own issues and shows great development throughout the entire series. The law classes appear here and there, they're kinda hard to follow, but it's still fine for me.

The script is solid and tight, and the acting from the entire cast is really good. Even though some scenes feel overdramatic and the editing feels rushed in places, but overall, it's a very enjoyable series for me.

A light-hearted series set in Republican Era

Fall in Love is about Tan Xuan Lin, a military commander, and Mu Wan Qing, the eldest daughter of a powerful businessman. They meet and end up helping each other by using their own resources and influence.

It’s a pretty light-hearted drama, but the plot is quite packed and engaging. I enjoyed it a lot, especially from the early episodes up to around episode 25. I also liked that Mu Wan Qing’s stepmother arc was resolved quite early on.

I really love the two main lead's characters. Tan Xuan Lin is very smart with his strategies and always thinks one step ahead, while Mu Wan Qing is just as sharp when it comes to business. Watching them work together, make deals, and use their own strengths is really satisfying. Their romance develops naturally and makes sense, and both lead actors did a great job.

That said, I wasn’t really into the romance subplots of the other characters, so I skipped a lot of those scenes. I also skipped most of the war arcs from the late 20s episodes until the end. The cinematography and costumes are okay and the music is fine too.

Overall, it’s still a very enjoyable drama, and the ending is pretty good

A "Hidden Gem" Ancient Love Story

An Ancient Love Song follows the story of a book author who travels back to an ancient era, discovers the truth about a historical woman that differs from what history books say, and decides to change her fate.

I didn’t expect much since it’s such a short drama, only 14 episodes, each under 30 minutes. But I was blown away. Surprisingly, the acting is great, the cinematography is good, and the story is well written. It’s such a hidden gem.

Time travel to an ancient era is a pretty common premise, whether in Chinese dramas or series from other countries, some popular ones have already used this trope. Here, though, the writer adds something fresh with clever twists and turns, which made me curious and eager to click the next episode right away.

Actually, the first few episodes felt a bit boring to me, and I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the main leads at first. But, as the episodes progressed, I really started to enjoy their time together. Some scenes do feel like they lack detail. The ending was exactly what I expected and honestly the most realistic outcome possible.

I also want to give credit to the main actress, she portrays the female lead beautifully across different eras. I could feel her different emotions through her gaze alone.

Overall, it’s fun and warm. I enjoyed it without overthinking, yet the feeling still lingers in my heart.
