Kinda weird because even kings and queen's made out (literally why they married) coitus was one of the crucial duties of expected out of a wife in order to give birth. Historical drama have all had the passionate scenes in kdramas, also cdrama and jdramas.
If this was a modern drama, I'd understand. But its a historical drama. Its bound to have its intricacies and depth. GOT was a fantasy show that made no sense and had no reason to flaunt such idiosyncronacy,.
Just skip the scene if you're that uncomfortable. It's not happening every 10 minutes like on GOT.
Damn why not Kang Hoon as ml dammit-- I honestly think that'd be a better balance both acting and visuals. While Shin Hye Sun is emotionally intense, Kang Hoon is laid back and calm. Even the visuals feel more cohesive.
Plus, not the ml with such allegations jesus christ.

He's kinda spineless... and its even worse cuz I've seen so many historic dramas and the ml steps up a lot. here, he doesn't and you'll get to understand what i mean when you watch further eps. there's also higlights of each up that user @Soju has given that explains it point blank.
tbh the fl also trusted him too easily and I was often left to wonder WHY she liked him when he literally sent her INNOCENT family to exile all cuz of the "emperor's" orders.
Again, I wouldn't outright say he's pathetic, but I was with the expectations from the blurb that the ML, a general would be more fierce and protective, eventually also for the fl....but I rly didn't feel it.
Both leads are the types of actors we'd root for cuz theyre mostly side characters/not go enough popularity....I love their acting. Han Sunhwa has been on my list, she'd dng the cute girl without being cringy.
Eps 3-7, the second return was the most unnecessary(when she wakes up in the shaman costume). Not only did Sol hurt Sunjae a lot, it was just downright boring to watch their frantic actions, and ofc Sunjae being the "fool in love" falls for her and everything. I feel like that reduced the humaness of the characters and made them more drama-like. Sure, its a drama, but the romance should be justified.
I do think this drama is very fun, but I feel like it would've been so better if we had a little more bickering as we did in eps 13-14, the mature sol-sunjae was fun to see. Instead of having an "insta-love" line, i wished we'd gone deeper into characters instead of having 3 returns. The frequent returns failed to explain why Sunjae is into Sol and vice versa, which is why many people think the drama is overrated.
This drama has my heart, but I really wished we'd have a more of a...realistic and indepth script that explores various aspects of the couple, they're great actors and have great chemistry, this would've been excellent with a script that simplifed the time-loop and focused on details.

Sorry to burst your bubbly But Im Sol's styling was mid. If she was styled a little more mature, it would've definitely been easier to understand, cause kim Hyeyoon is very pretty. But I do not understand why he's so deep in love, just by seeing her hold an umbrella....especially for 15 years.

Just gonna say.....when Lady Jang told the ml not to constrict the fl from moving out and taking the life out of her by making her stay inside....i wanted to hug and kiss her right there. Such great detail and character personalisation from the script writer.
This drama is so good, i think the first few eps (upto 3) are quite stagnant, but after the pace picks up its such a delight! The acting is wonderful and the story (although nothing new) is quite interesting.
Sometimes, rather than banging heads on palace politics and figuring out the system, dramas like this make it easier to digest the information and flesh out the good bad and ugly. Its straightforward, and i like it.

I love relos where BOTH are utterly losers for each other. It's the kind you'll rarely find.
