Damn.... I love the show because I feel like what they want to show is done very well ( failing relationship because…
Its like "Marraige Story". The absolute horror of a relationship breaking down. TBH I am all for this kind of disintegration if done well, cause not everything has to be rosey. But my personal preferance is to watch such content in a movie as a whole rather than episodic. So I can spare myself some discomfort, find closure etc. 🙃. I am still ok with the series and eagerly waiting to see what unfolds.
I still love the series but I'm starting to like Jiwoo less and less. At this point I'd like to push Seo Joon…
I am still hoping there is some soul shattering reason like the one, one of the user ssuggested couple of comments after your one. But yes, JW is portrayed as too cruel to sympathise with without giving us viewers anu back story. Sigh!
Thoughts on ep 5 and 6. First I must admit, I was apprehensive to come to the comment section, cause I didn't want to be more worked up but I also had to express myself a bit. Overall these two episodes were a tad bit frustrating. Not because JW was an ass to SJ, he has been like that from the beginning. But because the story didn't move much. Yes, we got a little glimpse into JW's perspective (he was lonely in the relationship, he might still have feelings for his ex etc.). But in a 10-episode series by ep 6 as viewers, I think we should get more into the reasons of why something has happened and the back story of the characters. They are still giving us riddles to solve (like what happened to JW's parents, what is SJ's trauma related to breaking glass etc.). Also JW being cruel to SJ was taken to an extreme level. I truly understand that good intentioned people can sometimes be cruel to others and thats ok. But from the very beginning of the series JW has been so unapologetically cruel to SJ that I am finding it difficult to have sympathy for JW's character. In order for this character to redeem itself, I feel, the makers should have given us something to root for. At the moment I want SJ to walk away. Find his peace and concentrate on himself. I think, it is not a good idea in a love story, to make viewers not root for the main couple. JW's character lacks expression, has communication issues etc. etc. and I know it already. I felt it was important to start the redemption arc by this time. But instead there is more of the same of JW being just cruel to SJ.
Having said all of the above, I have still enjoyed watching the episodes. I am a little disappointed that the plot did not move forward much, but I also know series are like that, has ups and downs. Some episodes are not as good as the others and I am OK with this. It does not change my overall fondness of the show and it's characters. The director is good at expressing a lot subtly. My most favourite scene of the two episodes is at the end of ep 5, when JW hugged SJ back while lying on the bed. I will keep that image in my head till I see the next episodes.
If anyony has read it through, thank you for listening to my rant. I appreciate your patience.
Yes, she is great! I read an interview of her where she talks about humanism and how she wants her characters to be human with all its ugly, beautiful and in between. I hope to see great works from her in future.
Does anyone know date of birth of Han Ji Woo? Both have birthdays in winter
I read it from a twitter thread posted on July 5th 2021. The thread contained an interview of the director where she talked about their Birthdays. Han Ji Woo: March 1st KangSeo Joon: September 16th
An interview of the director. More about her work process than a specific show. She is masterful in her craft. Waiting to see many more of her beautiful stories on screen ...
