I can see WY progression with falling in love with XQ. It’s just that his hate for the Qiao family is still…
This is a problem I have with the drama, like we know WS's supposed to hate the Qiaos despite his growing love, but the past couple of episodes just felt like a rom-com, too lighthearted too early on and then they suddenly hit us with nightmares and guilt as if saying "Oh yeah btw he hates them and she's the enemies daughter" it makes all the development feel sort of null. I think it would've been much better if they laced those flashes of hate and trauma in with those times where he was falling deeper and deeper in love with her. Like showing his constant ongoing struggle between the love that was taking root within his hatred filled heart. The impact would have been far greater imo
I think WS didn’t really think much of it considering his cousin’s character and the fact that he really thought…
I mean novel WS didn't just get a portrait and "there is this random girl I like but idk who she is" if I remember correctly. He got that big ass lewd painting and what WY *did* with the painting and it got smacked in his face without any preparation. And he was always prone to blowing up like a ticking bomb lol Was it over exaggerated? Yes. But it wasn't too far fetched either because he did really like XQ at that point. I was just upset why he was mad at XQ for that, like what did the poor girl do bro
Aw, these staggering episodes have paused on the plot driven story and now, focusing on the character driven stories…
I think the writer could have made both the character and plot development happen simultaneously. That way both sides of the story would have had an even bigger impact and the story would remain strong throughout the series. I've noticed that the writer/editing team does this regularly, separating parts of the story (even things that are very closely connected) and tell them one after another instead of together. This sort of dilutes the drama and the story, and even though it still can be nice, it won't have that strong effect that it would have otherwise if not dragged on. Its definitely not impossible to pull this off because many amazing dramas have been able to do so. I'm thinking they usually do this when they have too many side characters to think of and not enough air time/episodes. Which usually ends up with them actually having to skip over a big chunk of the story here and there
I going trough LY dramas and saw already 5 of his deaths so please dont kill him anymore in dramas. I crying even…
I haven't watch and dropped all the one's I heard he'll die in so basically this would be his first drama I'll ever finish. HE BETTER STAY ALIVE OR IMMA THROW SOME HANDS!
hm..... the show is staggering a bit for me. I don't like that, I want to stay interested until the end ˙◠˙
that painting scene definitely didn't have that kick I was expecting... maybe it will after Wei Yan completes the face idk. But at the current point in the drama he really hasn't shown that much interest in Xiao Qiao (other than the primary weird infatuation which suddenly and randomly just went poof), which leads me to wonder what on earth will happen in the next couple of episodes to suddenly make WY change his mind?
I'm also still confused how uninterested Wei Shao was when he first found out the lady in Wei Yan's first portrait was Xiao Qiao... he was basically like "You like my wife? Meh, it happens, no problem bro." He moved on from it wayy too fast and his reaction was too mellow imo. Especially compared to how WS is in the novel. This leads me to wonder how he'll react to the landscape painting when he finds it (We know he burns it based on the credits and novel but what drives him to that? since he didn't react so strongly the first time)
Okay so for The Prisoner of Beauty I came to its MDL page almost everyday, then began to read the novel and it suddenly got released earlier than I expected. What if I do that for this one too? (but this one is an original script and I can't read it anywhere to fill the void) PLEASE AIR SOON!!! PLEEEEAAASE!
Finally finished this. This was a very well produced and acted drama. Unfortunate that the story, editing and pacing fell short and because of that all the deaths and the romance development didn't have the impact it should have had for me and felt too abrupt. The last two episodes felt like the downgraded version of The Red Wedding lol. And the sudden flashes of calm and peace in between chaos and death were so discombobulating.
That ending honestly I could smell from a mile away... *sigh* How I hate sad endings...

P.S. I just rewatched and I don't think the girl is even Xiao Qiao at all lol
