Misnomers

The chemistry of the Marquis and ZH is the main draw of the drama. It's a web of lies and manipulation and it makes you hold your breath because every action is unpredictable and there seems to be hundred thoughts running behind both their minds. It's true hate but one of them is bound to get fooled, that's how the other is going to win.
Noone said (except maybe some people who joked about it) it's a romantic chemistry. I myself see it as a father-son chemistry. PJH being a faux father to ZH while being his father's killer, ZH being a faux son to PJH while his sons are being useless. It is too good.

I don't even know why suddenly "romance" fans are getting mad. 😂

He is just using ZH for the seal, he's acting trusting because it's like a trust exchange, he needs to make sure ZH doesn't place his trust on anyone else amongst the powerful people. Gao Ming also said he sees ZH as his personal property.

He doesn't wanna involve his name in their new beef by mentioning Cao. Because if the Marquis thinks back he will remember there was a point where ZH mentioned Cao who was forcing him. It gives him an opening point for a deep dive. Because if the Marquis and Cao directly talk about ZH there's a risk many of the misunderstandings he has created will be exposed. So he made it look like Zhifu is the one who pushed him. Without mentioning Zhifu, he pretended to be nervous and lying which made him look like he's loyal to the Marquis household and will not sell out the Marquis's son even after getting caught.

I'll say that's an insult to Eunuch Cao, an evil but established man. Dog Hailin is more like those useless officials in green robes who were bullying common people. Those who have no achievements to speak of but would do anything for money.
