He's careful about keeping himself safe but he's not paranoid that he's gonna get killed in some political conspiracy anytime so he's not constantly spying. He does test him with a poison that he sends to check if Zang Hai has bad intentions. He also had him background checked in the beginning and tested his physical strength by pressing his shoulder.

The writer clearly has a wrong notion of maturity. She probably believes maturity means always talking in a low voice, forgiving unforgivable stuff, keeping good relations with everyone regardless of how they treat you.
