If you're consistently rating each episode 1 star maybe stop watching the drama. People are just weird tbh. I'm currently watching SOKP, will start this once it's over. Honestly just want to watch it for Xing Yue. I can't get over how good he is after watching The Double.

I’m on episode 17, and while it’s a good show, I’m struggling to root for any single character so far. Aside from the obvious leads and their storyline, the plot feels lacking in depth, it seems so flat. They’ve been fixating on the same issue since episode 1. Does it get better? Please tell me it does. Also, can someone explain why they needed to add Bai Lu as a writer in the beginning? Is it it in any way relevant to the story?

Oh wow, how did the rating go up in 3 days from 8.1 to 8.4? Did the show get better with later episodes?

Ikr, that's the best thing about the costumes. They're so vibrant and styled specifically to each character. It's a breath of fresh air to watch. Currently watching SOKP and all the women wearing the same embroidered pastels is ruining the show for me overall.

Totally agree. Everytime he came on screen the mood just changed, his aura as Xiao Heng was so powerful. I can't believe he's only 22. Love the fl too, they paired so well despite the huge rl age gap. İ started Story of Kunning Palace and he hasn't appeared yet, but İ'm basically just watching it for him.

Finished, beautiful show, story, ml/fl were amazing as were all the supporting actors. Loved every bit of it. 10/10

The costumes in this show are just *chef's kiss* Xiao Heng's looks are seriously to die for - everything he wears is just so stunning. The way they've used different shades of green across characters is just brilliant, each color tells a whole mood. It's not just clothing, it's total art. The fabrics? Absolutely incredible. Especially love how elegant Old Madam Jiang looks.

Currently watching this. İ thought it would be all gloom and doom, but this is super entertaining, so glad İ started it after months of ignoring it.

This show isn't perfect; there are some plot holes and threads that weren't explained, which affected the story's cohesion. That said, the OST, the ML/FL relationship, their chemistry, and the overall cinematography are amazing. The show deserves its high rating, mostly because of how well the main leads acted and worked together.

Go ahead and watch it, you won't regret it. Don't wait for the second season, it's not even announced yet.

Li Xian is an amazing actor, you should try watching other shows of his.

İkr, even the floral envoy got a concubine foisted on him, and he couldn't refuse it. Lots of power/equality themes. Especially when Mudan opens the frarance garden and calls her workers partners instead of servants, she does that for women as well as men. This isn't just a show about women.

This show is more woman empowerment than blanket feminism. While it's theme is to promote women, İ don't see it putting down men for no reason. Yes, there are some bad male characters in the show, but so are women characters. How can you see something so wholesome and come off with muh feminism!?

the start to ep 24 is fire! Yang Zi outdid herself in this scene.

I wanted to wait for season 2 before I watched this, but couldn't help myself and now I'm dreading for it to be over. 😭

I'm on episode 12, and so far, it's been amazing. I liked Yang Zi in Go Go Squid, and while her character here is completely different, I think she totally outdid herself as Mu Dan.
