I agree with almost everything you said, especially the episode lengths (a reason I stick to C-dramas nowadays, their episodes are 30-50 minutes long tops), and the freaking Childhood Connection thingie!!!

If there was an Oscar for "Most Heartbreaking & *Realistically* Depicted Sad Characters' Stories (which includes all of the above and more) in the Highest Percentage of Characters (it's practically every single character in it) in a *Fantasy* TV-series/book", The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi should get it!

My theory in general is that they cut what the censorship committee doesn't like for any (nonsensical) reason.
I noticed in Renascence they've mainly cut side-characters' scenes, and more specifically, almost all of Kevin Yan's character's scenes (to the point we don't even know who his character is... or he's sent to investigate a group to find their leader, and 2 scenes later they talk about the leader of that group and what did he learn from him, like what? what did I miss? LOL!). So I'm thinking, maybe he did (or didn't do) something to dissatisfy the censors? :( Or maybe there were plot-points/hints of anything they may not like, I don't know...

I have the same question!! Plus, this is a webdrama, not tv drama, and I thought there wasn't a limit for them? Or was it? And even if there is, why is it some dramas able to have 50-60+ ep this year (both webdramas & tv dramas), whereas others cannot? (e.g. TV drama Serenade of Peaceful Joy: 69 ep., Webdrama Love and Redemption: 59 ep.)

I'm so glad I found another like-minded person, I always complain that people shouldn't even allowed to rate a whole drama if they haven't watched at least 50% of it, but nobody wants to hear it!! I mean, that's why the episodes rating was implemented, if sb wants to check out how an airing drama's rating trends, it's the best way, it even has a graph for falling, rising, etc.!! But most people don't even know about it -- that's why I linked it above!!
