Not just *on* Netflix, but a *Netflix Original*!!!!!! :) I'm excited!! Seems my subscription is worth it after all, with all these new Asian dramas!!!! :)))
No matter how much effort is put into a translation, something will be lost in it.. :/ If only all of us spoke all languages, nothing can be done about it... We can only hope the barriers of communication can be bridged a little, and learn from each other's culture, and approach everything unfamiliar to us with an open mind.
(Just to add to the comments) What do you guys think about the new English translation of the mdzs manhua, official this time? How do you compare it with the fan-made one? . Personally, I find the fan translation superior and less awkward, but I may be biased, lol. Regardless, I'm excited the comic gets a licenced translation, does this mean an official translation of the novel in English is just around the corner? Will I be able to have the actual MDZS physical book (guilt free) in my library one day??? :')))
Does this end with a cliffhanger, or needs a second season for the story to be complete? I'm thinking of starting it (I need either a mystery or a law drama for the Watch Challenge and this one had rapturous reviews), but I'm getting tired of the recent trend in Asian dramas to split into Seasons!
Finished Ep21.This is really underwhelming. The high rating is for the subtle hint/tease of Yaoi/BL of the main…
Well, this is definitely not your typical xianxia/cultivation novel/story. It doesn't focus on the "leveling up" of the protagonist(s), but instead has an unusual story, set into a xianxia-like world. The story (at least in the novel) is more a mystery-adventure-suspense-character driven drama, with some action-wuxia-cultivation bursts in between. The themes of it are grey morality, mob mentality, "found" family, growth, self-acceptance and redemption. The (semi-romantic) relationship between the two main characters is certainly important to the plot (as well as lending to the entertainment value of it for some of us), but it's not the main factor of it, just some important aspect of it. And it's not the only relationship that is important, I'd say the family relationship (between Wei WuXian and his step siblings for example) is equally important, or even more important some times.
Episode 1 done.6/10.Like most xanxia drama/chinese drama, the pacing is not good. the comedy feels forced and…
I'm glad you're giving it a chance!! :) I suggest you be patient. The 2 first episodes are confusing to most viewers, but it gets less confusing as we get to the backstory.
PS: Episode 3 on is in the past, up to episode 33 (the past is where Wei Wuxian gets his unique cultivation btw), and then it gets back to the present, with the mysteries unfolding, etc.
PS 2: The looks they're giving each other are indeed meaningful, but that's all there is, just looks, so don't be afraid (?) if you're not used to watching male x male intimacy.
Simply put, it is one of the most romantic love stories ever told. Unfortunately, this adaptation is censored,…
No, it's based on a novel that has many adaptations of a different form, it has a donghua (Chinese animation), a manhua (Chinese comic), an audio drama (the less censored of all - most faithful to the novel), and this one, The Untamed, the live action drama. . I'm intrigued about this drama, I love the Power Struggle and smart characters and revenge trope, and I'd love to see these things in a modern drama for a change of pace for me, the plot seems interesting, but I'm very discouraged by the medical genre... is this very prominent? I really dislike medical dramas..

(Maybe you should add your own experience there as well!)
