I love this little cutie hamster!! I love it even more in the book, which I'm currently reading (translation sadly not completed yet), where it has a non-stop rivalry with FuYao for the heart of its master WuJi!!! In the book, there's actually a vague explanation of where it came from. Master YuanBao, apparently, is not an ordinary hamster, but a "Divine Enigma Rat" (doesn't that bring in mind a certain... "Giant Miniature Space Hamster", Minsc's Boo?). Here's the relative passage in the book, for anyone interested:
Yuanbao was not some ordinary pet animal - found in the Di Region Heavenly Court's most sacred lands, only one of the Everlife Temple's "Divine Enigma Rats" would be born every hundred years. Their lives were extremely long, and their intelligence was beyond normal animals, even comparable to humans. Further, they could bring luck and ward off evil, and once they decided on a master, they would be unwaveringly loyal for their entire lives. People without connections to the temple could only hope to see one, let alone own one - no matter how exalted their statuses were.
Frankly, someone should write an article on what to like on contemporary/modern dramas! I mean, imho they're so boring compared to historical dramas!!! I fell in love with Sageuks since Jumong & Love in the Moonlight (which were the 2 first Kdramas I watched) and I've been addicted ever since!!! I started Chinese historical dramas relatively recently, but I've been loving them as well now!!
I really like Viki's subs better too. I love how they add cultural references about why the characters said or…
Even the ones that are already added in Viki are not available for me to watch, not available in my region just showing all the time!! All its use (for me) is for about 5 dramas that's available and have Greek subs for those in my family who can't read english...

Me too, dramafever had zero dramas licenced in my country (so I never used it), and Viki has less than 10% of them licenced!!!
It's easy for those in N&S America especially to bash us using sites like Kiss as "illegal", but really, when there's no other place to watch, what's the point?? (The only 100% legal site where I can watch -and I do- is Netflix, that lately has some more Asian dramas, but sometimes they're altered and not in their original form..)
The only one sounding interesting -the only historical actually- is Ever Night!! (Historical + Fantasy + Adventure!, the trailer look promising, what's not to like!)
I totally agree with you! In a lot of kdramas (not all) the topic is weirdly completely avoided! It's like sex…
I agree about the American TV shows, sometimes they're overdoing it, whereas in Kdramas it's the complete opposite; there should be a middle ground that would be more realistic for most people..
What bothers me most (as a westerner viewer perhaps) is when even though the leads are obviously over 25, and they're already dating/in a relationship/admitted their feelings for each other/been shown "kissing", it's like sex doesn't even exist, they don't even IMPLY that they may actually doing it/want to do it/be sexually and physically attracted to each other!!!! UNLESS these rare times that they're already married/engaged/about to die (lol), and they MUST have a baby to advance the plot (which happens after one time or after no apparent intimacy at all)!!
I know I'm probably late to the party, but I'm dying to watch this drama, anyone has any ideas where to watch online subbed??? I've only found the first 5 episodes on Youtube on hideous quality, nothing nowhere else... :(
