I wouldn't say queerbating. True queer shows aren't allowed to air in mainland China due to censorship laws. The most mainland Chinese shows can do is hint at it, to be able to pass censorship π€·πΌββοΈ At least shows airing in China. This show definitely gets away with a lot for a censored show, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. The age gap is...questionable. Although, Ximeng would probably be calling the Emperor "uncle" instead of "brother" like he does, if the age gap was supposed to be super significant. Like 20+ years.
The production value is decent for a mini-drama. It started off pretty alright, but then it kind of went downhill half way in...the actor who plays Ling Ze isn't the best IMO, and there are random, small time skips that don't make sense - it was like they decided to cut certain scenes in half for no reason. Also, some of the plot points seem like they were written by AI π I'm honestly now just staying for the bromance π
