Thank you for your response and the gender inequality explanation makes a lot of sense. It’s unfortunate that female equality has not come further in some countries. For me sometimes in comes across as creepy rather than cute.

Oh don’t get me started on the voices LOL. I use to think it was their natural voices but eventually realized that they make themselves speak this way.

Ignore MDL rating, so worth watching

Just finished watching and loved it! If you’re looking for Romance after watching The Early Spring, this is not for you!!!! A great mix of crime, thriller and romance. Love Jonny Huang as the ML, he is always amazing in these types of gritty roles, FL carries her own and they have great chemistry but the romance is secondary to the main plot. The plot is layered and keeps you guessing for a long time.

My favourite character is Wen Peng, what a complete and total psychopath. Wang Tian Chen embodies this character from beg to end, it’s amazing to watch his schemes unravel, from cold composed master manipulator to crazy obsessed criminal. It’s hard to not feel bad for him at times, he has a horrible backstory but he is irredeemable. Brilliant acting on his part

As westerner I would find this aspect of conversation exhausting. I’m so use to being direct, yes or no,
It’s ok if feelings get hurt. Anyways I find it fascinating but now I also understand how misunderstandings can happen when you are left to infer ideas and conclusions.

Can I also ask why the obsession with cute? Not just Japanese but many parts of Asia. Especially sexualizing young girls or at least their appearance. I’m genuinely curious. Thanks for your guidance

I like it being work focused, she is a driven, smart and confident woman and the romance being secondary is fine so her brilliant mind can shine. I would just like the few romance moments to be more romantic, especially because he is an older man.

Real question - why are so many characters in Japanese dramas so unsure, hesitant and submissive? is it a cultural thing? I also notice that they can’t seem to have direct conversations, always beat around the bush or worried they are going to cause problems. Is that an actual thing?

I mean in this case Suzuki is so clueless it’s ridiculous and annoying.

His makeup was minimal that’s why it was so noticeable in Episode 27, not just his but all the actors. Maybe it was the filters they used, who knows.

Lots of great ideas and this was some of xu Kai’s best acting. Too bad the couldn’t fully commit tot he story

I loved Xu Kai in this role, he was absolutely stunning in costume and really embodied the character. So many amazing micro expressions! Zhou Ye was also really good! Thought they both had fantastic chemistry and so much tension I had to hold my breath. Lots of good things going on in this drama BUT the story was a little disconnected at times and I wish the leads had more time together.

Episode 1-25 were really good but the last 5 episodes felt so rushed. It’s like they put 10 episodes into 5, felt like the story deserved more breathing room. Even the makeup was weird, episode 27, Xu Kai’s makeup was so thick and he looked deathly pale.

Overall they did a fantastic job keeping the SECRET until the very end, it felt worthwhile and
surprising. The characters and story was very interesting and engaging but I still just wanted more. 8.5/10

Just started watching and the opening scene freaked me out so much, why does A Lie look like Chen Zheyuan LOL I got whiplash looking so much.

Wow o have to say I’m really enjoying this BL. I found Wan a little annoying at the beginning but he has really grown on me and his character seems to be evolving. Ok let’s talk about Third/auau, the boy is absolutely stunning, can’t look away. He has such great onscreen presence and his acting is so natural. Both leads have killer chemistry too

Nine/James is doing a great job as well, really enjoying his performance as the bad guy.

Fairly new cast other than James and they’re doing a great job. AuauSave might be one a new favourite

Omg I’m screaming in satisfaction!!! Episode 19 is so gratifying and to see Yan Rui/Shen Run so ruthless is crazy good!! Seriously love Xu Kai in this role, so much on screen charisma. I like the fact that it’s his voice and much makes the nuanced acting so much better. I also seriously appreciate the fact that the director is not scared to be ruthless with the plot!!!

The Xie family are so disgusting, I want serious karma for the father and first madam. Can’t wait to see who the mastermind is.

So many people bitching and complaining about this drama. I feel like they are going out of their way to find fault with it. If you don’t like it, then STOP watching and GO AWAY!

Loving all the intrigue, plots twists, intensity and tension. Still 10 more episodes to flush out the plot.

People are never satisfied, this is such a good drama and the acting is so well done. Yes there are some choppy parts but overall the story, relationships, and cinematography are so good! And let’s celebrate the incredible tension and chemistry between the leads!

Absolutely love this drama, Xu Kai looking stunning and embodying his character, Yan Rui. His demeanour, aura and charisma is oozing off the screen. Both leads ruthless and shameless and I want more of them. Episode 14 was epic, the fight scenes were fantastic, well coordinated, realistic and brutal.

The Xie family need to all be whipped, the amount of scheming…ugh and the audacity to wake her to save them.

I love smart, clever leads and really enjoying both characters, can’t wait to see how all the secrets and plot unfolds.

Question: did they both figure out who they were or just him (since he saw the token), the flashback made it seem like both.

Wow their chemistry is killer, the tensions and flirting!!!! William gives us so much face, such a natural flirt and that smile….looks like it’s going to be a fun series

I really enjoyed this one! Loved that the roles were a little different and FL was such a badass, totally unapologetic for who she was. Leads had great chemistry and there banter was so witty and fun to listen too. Some amazing kisses and intimate scenes.

Some of the timeline seemed a little strange and their breakup was unnecessary but hey whatever moves the plot forward.

It was a fun and easy watch with minimal drama and sometimes we all need that. 9/10 for me
