Finally just binged watch all the episodes and I love it! IU is hilarious and brilliant but I also love BWS, doing a great job as the ML. The man is breathtakingly gorgeous.
Really enjoying the story so far! I like the prime Minister but ugh so tired of 2ML who suppress their feelings and get all upset when the FL finds love. Seriously say how you feel or shut up and g away
I am so thrilled to finally Ci Shan in a ML role. He has such great onscreen presence and his acting is on point. I have to say so far I am loving this drama. I love a capable, smart, courageous FL and a ruthless, cunning, strong ML. I love how this is not love at first sight or fluffy romance for them. So far they are doing a great job with the build up, slowly revealing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. She is young and he is older so I hope it continues to be a natural progression.
I see people wanting her with 2ML and angry because they deviated from the book. Seriously people when has 2ML ever ended up with the ML? Also books and dramas are often different. He was a spoiled brat from the beginning with no care for anyone but himself, yes he likes FL but I can also see how her speaking the truth to him would enrage him. He snapped and regretted it, makes for far more interesting character development.
Yes she Likes the 3ML because he is handsome, gentle and a scholar but that’s the usual crush of a young girl who hasn’t experienced the world. I feel like he will also have his own agenda.
I can understand why she ends up with the ML because the other 2 are no match for her.
Needless to say I’m really excited for the rest of this drama and hope it stays good all the way through!

Great perspective! I also feel the same about the leads. There has to be a buildup for this romance to be believable. Yes everyone loves Chen Xuan Qing, he is young, gentle, smart and handsome but I don’t think he could handle FL long term.
2ML will definitely need a redemption arc but for FL damage is done and there is no way back. Maybe as friends
Just finished watching and loved it. The leads were beautiful and had great chemistry and so much tension. I usually want heavy romance in all my dramas but I was totally ok with this. Yes it was an extra slow burn but it made sense after everything she went through. I was so caught up in watching her grow and transform and the ML manage the biz that I didn’t feel frustrated. The ending was a little open ended but not very story has to end up with people married. They remained committed to each other but she wanted to keep growing and achieve her potential, he helped to give her the courage to do that. He was able to stay in one spot knowing she would come back to him. I love a mature drama, life is messy and we all have our dreams, we don’t need a traditional happy ending to be happy.
After putting this drama off for years, I finally decided to watch it and now I know what the hype was about. It is such an amazing drama! The chemistry between the main leads is fantastic, loved how the started as friends with all the bickering, became inseparable friends learning about each other and then becoming lovers who now have the foundation to stay together and be happy. Lots of great lessons to be learned here and I loved how they tackle some difficult topics.
The only thing I didn’t like was all the derogatory nicknames, like fatty and uglies. I know this is a different era and it’s know the drama is also trying to show the reality but having your boyfriend call you fatty…yeah no

1st off what’s with the low MDL score?? To the haters let’s agree to disagree because I absolutely loved this drama. People comparing it to Pursuit of Jade is ridiculous…2 very different gendre!!!
As a watcher of many Xianxia and Wuxia dramas, this is beautifully executed. It was bold, raw and gritty. The fight scenes were dark and ruthless with amazing choreography. All of the actors were fantastic in the fight scenes.
Reba was absolutely stunning in this, she embodied the cold, regal and ancient sovereign. Her acting range was excellent in this, from the cold void to the warm mortal experiences. Let’s talk costume….like wow!!!! Seriously breathtakingly gorgeous human being
Arthur to Reba’s character was also well done. People saying they didn’t have chemistry must be blind. His character was so tragic but once he decided on redemption to save his nation and to tenaciously love a cold sovereign. He fought so hard for her love because she didn’t know how. She kept pushing him away for valid reasons but he never gave up and taught her how to love. His character and back story is also truly interesting.
Miles Wei as Yan Ke was brilliant, his villain was next level!! I literally felt cringey and disgusted during his scenes with He Simu at the end. That is such a reflection of his amazing acting abilities.
Overall I loved this drama, it felt epic, unique and like an old school production where they are not scared to cover the handsome actors in blood.
I will have to watch it all over again some time 9.5/10
Episode 16 was amazing, Arthit was a BEAST in bed, LUCKY DAO!! I love their chemistry! My favourite besides JoNorth. I love how Arthit is just himself when he meets the dads and doesn’t put on airs. He is a little loud and rough around the edges but I love him!
What of the most beautifully filmed Cdramas I’ve ever watched. So many wonderful things in this drama. First and foremost, this gave us one of the most memorable FLs ever!! Tian Xi Wei embodies this role, she manages a perfect balance of this character’s innocence, loyalty, strength, fierceness and resilience. I absolutely had a girl crush on her, she was amazing!
Ok now the Ultimate eye candy Zhang Ling He! Seriously I didn’t think a human could be this beautiful but it’s not just that his handsome but his onscreen presence is next level. He also does a great job showing vulnerability and strength, playing Yan Zheng and then the Marquis. All I know is that every time the man made a major entrance I held my breath. I do wish we had seen him on the battlefield and fighting more. ZLH is incredibly talented and I feel like the drama missed out on that.
The supporting actors, they were all beautiful, male and female, although like everyone else I just wanted to hug Qi Min and save him. Deng Kai did a super job, I hope he gets more roles after this. The other Sui brother was also amazing. Both actors gave us a masterclass in crazy and it was perfect.
The cinematography, costumes and actors were all amazing and like everyone else I gorged on this drama. My only disappointment were the last few episodes being rushed. I wish they would have given more time to the climax and explanation. That part was a little confusing and underwhelming. The alternate timeline ending I could also have done without. A proper wedding or showing us leads with their kids would have been so much more satisfying.
Overall well worth it and will absolutely rewatch!!

Finally watched all the episodes and this BL deserves so much more attention. Why is it not being promoted?? PerthSanta are doing a great job acting and it’s such a unique premise but it works. It’s interesting and emotional to see how each lead reacts when it’s Sun or Solar. From Pombecks vs Solars perspective.
Seriously can’t handle this 1/week and the series is too short although we will hopefully get season 2. I love this BL so much, beautifully filmed, great script, gritty and raw, the leads have such amazing chemistry and now enters 2nd couple and wow!! China please keep releasing up more BLs!
Episode 5 - the dream, wow what a kiss and so sexy and beautifully done. The scene where Chu San is hanging the sheet and Liu Yi walks in the middle took my breath away. The tension is fantastic. Can’t wait for next week
Finally had a chance to watch episode 4, need more!!!! I am so obsessed with this BL, love their chemistry and such a great production and story. Chu San is so into him, all those lingering glances. I also love how Xia Liu Yi feels comfortable enough to fall asleep in his bed. Can’t wait to see how this unfolds. I wish this BL was like 20’episodes

Of course they like each other…did you miss all the glances? The fact that he falls asleep in Chu Sans room says how much he trusts him and feels comfortable. The like each but haven’t admitted to themselves yet
Watching this for the 5th time and It just keeps getting better. Their love story is epic and I love her unshakeable devotion for him. Leads have since tension and chemistry. Plot still works well all these years later and still plays with my emotions. Still 10/10 for me. Truly one of my all time favourite modern dramas.
