I love Ren Jia Lun , he is a really great actor and I’ve always loved his dramas. I had high hopes and started watching because of him.…wow he looks gorgeous as the emperor in those robes BUT apart from that this drama is killing me. I stopped watching after episode 6, the FL is so frustrating I just want to slap her ! I thought I’d wait for more episodes to drop before investing my time. Should I start again?
Omg this the best drama!!! I have laughed so hard in ages, they do such a great job balancing the funny and serious. Pond is perfect for this role. Hope it just keeps getting better and better. There acting has really improved
I actually mostly enjoyed this drama. Unlike most, I like the 2 leads, felt their chemistry and loved their devotion. I also loved all the support characters, such great CPs and friends. For whatever reason though the story still felt disconnected. I blame that on the director and script not the actors. Towards the end, I felt like there was so much state propaganda that it was a turn off. I get that they sacrifice for the people but there was so much dialogue about it. Even in the end when they should have finally had a beautiful romantic moment, it was all about country. I appreciated that she met him at the gate but after 3 years And all they have put the audience through, I wish we could have finally seen a wedding .
I still enjoyed it but found some of the director and editing choices not quite up to par
Omg I loved the first episode, so damned funny. I love the over the top, socially awkward mobster boss who watches Lakorns. All the sinister music every time he shows up and then he opens his mouth LOL
Yes you have to suspend belief with the premise but that’s why it’s a fiction. There were cringey over the top moments but this was totally addicting. I love a dark toxic, sexy romance, crazy chemistry and obsessive love. It was like watching a Wattpad book come to life. So good!
I actually really enjoyed this. Maybe because I dated someone older when I was younger 17 and could relate. Also this is a fiction so I can handle the taboo a little more. He was also very respectful and caring towards her. So in my head he will wait until she is of age before intimacy. I liked how she was his whole world and over protective…..would this be ok in real life? Probably not she is a little young but this is fiction and the forbidden fantasy gendre is still enjoyable
This is exactly my issue with this setup, there's a lot of other problems too but this is the biggest one. The…
The heart wants what it wants. I think he is attracted to her because they come from similar backgrounds and share the same grief, he can relate to her but she is also independent and fierce and fight by his side. She is more hesitant because not only has she lost her father but was betrayed by the man she loved. She even says she feels heartless.
I can understand why he falls for her . BUT yes I think the above is correct in why this drama feels a little off. The premise of his puppy love after losing his entire family seems insincere, it also make him look very immature.
I think if the director had made his character a little more stoic and cold, wearing his grief an little more instead of as love struck teenager, it might have worked better.
I just started this and even though it's a minor age gap (only 8 years apart), this FL should never sign up to…
I don’t think she looks that old but you’re right he has such a baby face, it makes the gap look wider . Also the way both characters are portrayed, he seems much younger than her.
I've just rewatched The Legend of Fei, the actress featuring FL is 10 years older than Wang Yibo who is playing…
I appreciate your explanation, I think Victoria Song is doing a good job based on how her character has been written and directed. Doing Yuxis character comes across very young and immature whereas her character seems much older. I definitely think it could have worked better if the direction and interpretation of the characters had been better.
Everyone just needs to stop bitching and complaining about Victoria Song. She is absolutely gorgeous in this role and doing a great job. She is suppose to be older than him but stills looks very young. How can people say they have no Chemistry? Are we watching the same show? In the beginning she sees him as a little brother but as the show evolves you can see that she cares about him. The last few episodes you can feel her repressed emotions.
It is a very slow burn so maybe that’s the frustration for everyone. Their romance still is very one sided since she hasn’t accepted her feelings. She was betrayed by the last person she loved so love is hard for her so she stays cold.
Her fight scenes have also been quite impressive, better than many actresses I’ve seen.
Both leads are doing a great job with their characters..
Personally I think it’s more the directing that’s the issue. This drama could have been next level but the pacing is off and some of the editing is quite choppy. Some of the scenes are too long, slow motion, etc…
Again still enjoying but don’t just picking the actors
I'm honestly a bit surprised by all the harsh criticisms for Victoria Song. I don't think she's any worse than…
Completely agree with you! I think she is gorgeous and doing a great job. I mean she is suppose to be older than him and I think she looks quite young. Ding Yuxi is also doing a great job with his character as young man having to grow up quickly. He is doing such a good job of falling in love, he wears everything on his sleeve. His micro expressions are everything….They actually have great chemistry, it’s just been a bit of a very slow burn. I hope we get the pay off soon.
I’m actually really enjoying this drama but I do find the pacing a little slow and some of the editing seems a little choppy.

Phuwinnand santas acting has really improved.
This genre is not for everyone but I loved it.
