Title Stay with Me
Episode 20:

Like that WB's dad is being allowed a redemption arc. Though it was weird how he was so nice about the noodle shop but then when the MLs came to see him at his company he was an asshole again.

Overall, writing is deteriorating in a host of ways too numerous to mention, though I appreciate the numerous gay-as-can-be "Easter eggs" we were allowed to find in this episode. SOOOOOO stupid no one finds it odd two fully-grown young men share a bed the width of an ironing board and ONE pillow. Them cuddling was both hot and adorable though.

I don't understand the part where WB, SY, WB's dad and his minion went to the police department and were able to watch episodes of "The Fast and the Furious" from the future, starring his dead wife. Was this a parallel universe thing? What's even more bizarre is that they were able to watch recreated, live-action footage of the events leading to the mom/wife's death through the magic computer as well. Who knew there was an Elf in her car filming her as she hid the receipt in the mystery hole she'd dug in the doll? Thank goodness for that.

I feel bad that I laughed out loud when, after the badly-staged/filmed car wreck, the next thing we saw was a closeup of WB's mom's head on the car door window frame with a little lipstick smeared into the part in her hair...apparently as an abstract reference to actual blood.

The way the broken window glass was neatly placed on the road in one pile along with that plastic-wood doll sculpture was amusing too. As was the police having chosen to leave the doll, which could be a crucial piece of evidence, just laying on the street, not to mention that police, ambulance, bystanders, the evil uncle, everyone had left the scene but the wrecked car was still parked where it "crashed." lol

Last three eps have mostly been a disaster zone.

Man the leads are really talented. Can’t wait for China to ban them from ever being seen together in public.
I hope they defect to Taiwan or Japan where they can have real careers without Fascists looking over their shoulders at what roles they choose.

Forgot to mock SY ending up in a coma in the hospital from getting wet in the rain and missing a couple meals outside Mr. Mo's house. lol When he was sitting in the rain soaked while talking (lying for no reason) to WB about where he was, I KNEW he was going to get a severe BL-Fever, but didn't expect a hospital stay. Then all of a sudden he was back home, apparently after maybe 12 hours in this state of unconsciousness brought on by raindrops. My god, I played in the rain every spring and summer as a kid. By BL standards I should have been dead long ago.

not you writing a whole essay about the fact that he fought his way into a house as if many other BL characters…
Which could all have been accomplished in a hundred other ways without horribly amateur and badly-directed fight scenes.

So...it's a good idea to repeat other lame and stupid elements of former BLs in new BLs, is that what you're saying. You must be one of the millions of MDLers who have lowered their standards and expectations below urinal level so as to allow yourself to call atrocities like "Bad Buddy" MASTERPIECES.

Oh, and the whole whodunit plotline makes no sense. Even if Wu Bi's mother did not truly kill herself, she planned…
And WHY on earth would she leave her little boy behind to be raised without a mom?

This show had a nice 16 eps focusing on the boys, and then took a dive in the past 4 eps with all this whodunit…
lol Well-said.

PREACH !! people saying the fighting wasn't believable as if he didn't literally said he grew up being taught…
It was believable that Wu Bin WOULD fight, it's just that this fight scene was the first in the series that was choreographed and performed poorly. We had multiple bodyguards advancing on WB from behind but keeping their distance out of terror because he had been mean to one of the other guards.

Then, by the time WB got into his uncle's hangout, all the bodyguards were suddenly ten minutes behind him. The dunking in the water feature outside was poorly-acted/choreographed too. The actor being dunked was clearly pretending to have been overpowered. WB is supposed to be a good fighter, not a superhero.

And it would have been a good idea to let us see reminders throughout the show that WB is a trained martial artist who works out regularly. We haven't seen anything like that except a little sandbag-punching in the courtyard of SY's home.

You ask why people are calling the lame fight scene into question. I ask why people are defending a badly-staged, silly scene that undercut its believability with its amateur-hour details.

Oh...the version of ep 19 I saw was marred by the fact the sound was slightly behind the video so it looked like a badly-dubbed Russian film the whole time? Anyone else notice this?

Episode 19:

Mild spoilers below:

Despite the fact that all the events leading up to it were entirely stupid and poorly written, Wu Bi sitting on the edge of Su Yu's bed and weeping for the pain and sickness SY endured to "bring him the truth" had me in tears again. Both those actors are very good with their crying when it's necessary. No forced, dry-eyed, fake, bad-acting crying scenes from them. WB especially. He has such a beautiful, heart-shaped face and tiny mouth, but there's a real masculinity to him that compliments the delicacy in a unique way. HOT and also sweet.

Then they got me again with the surprise birthday party for WB in the courtyard of SY's childhood home...that was lovely. The little girl's solo over the birthday party scene was goosebumps for me. Waterworks again.

The last three eps have been mostly incredibly lame and a waste of time as we focus on corporate intrigue and the infidelity/suicide?/death of WB's mom...who cares? All that just to get the two of them to cry together.? Surely there were much less boring routes the writers/director could have chosen to get us there.

Seeing WB and SY both so handsome and sweet while so close and yet so far away ep after ep, is giving me Viewer Blue Balls.

I love that little girl. When she motioned with her hands to indicate the tiny sliver of space required to accommodate her on WB/SY's marital bed, I nearly squealed with the adorability of it all.

Really like Duo's mom and the actress who plays her. She is beautifully good-hearted and never annoying or overbearing in her approach to WB/SY. SY's mom could learn a LOT from her. Good god, the guys have their first meal together with her and WB's dad and she's immediately pressuring them to move into the mansion with them. I'm surprised she didn't pressure her husband to buy them private jets instead of cars as birthday presents. She means well but still hasn't figured that part of things out. I'm glad the plot didn't turn her into a conniving, evil BL minx.

LOVING that the guys' school buddy's dad has a crush on Wu Bi. lol And it came as a surprise to me that WB's dad and his driver are clearly having an affair on the side, as was made obvious in their flirtatious, moonlight conversation in the street outside the other family's courtyard near the end of the episode. I find all this open acceptance of gay love in all its forms to be admirable, especially in a wrapped-tight Chinese Not-BL in which the leads haven't even done it yet.

Dude, go touch grass.
ummm...hmmm...oh yes, I see now...gosh you're so deeply perceptive. No wonder I missed all that...lol Actually, I just wanted to see what silliness you'd come up with. Yeah, I knew all that.

Well, the way he SHOULD react to all that is with much, much better acting, Namily. The guy is a terrible actor. His performance in both of those scenes was embarrassing as hell.

If you think he did a great job, well then that's ok too.

Hey Namily, could you please explain for me what was going on with the dude's big panic attack scene out on the street/sidewalk after he met with the woman who was bitch to him? I guess I missed something...

I waited a long time to watch this. Really long. And I was not disappointed. It was a very good production. Great…
Absolutely correct. But there are a lot of MDLers who seem to think that portraying a negative emotion or act or relationship means that you are "promoting" it, that everyone will run out in the streets after seeing this and seduce their stepbrothers and shit.

Yet, the same people don't have a problem with portrayals of murder, kidnapping, theft, abduction and a million other negative behaviors that make for wonderful, juicy dramas and movies. It's only when it comes to S-E-X that they suddenly become concerned for the mental health of the rest of the audience. "Toxic" is their favorite word. lol They can't just stop watching a show they don't like, they want to make sure nobody else sees it either.

"Toxic" makes for the best and most intense relationship dramas. The concern of these commenters is simply good, old-fashioned prudishness and busy-body-ness wrapped up in a new package.
