What's with all the question-marks? Adding question-marks to homophobic and bigoted perspectives and opinions does not make them any less homophobic or bigoted.

It's like me saying "I won't watch any story with Black people in a romantic situation" and expecting that attitude to be "respected" just because it's your "opinion."

Consider the possibility you ARE a bigot and a homophobe. Notice I did not CALL you a bigot or a homophobe. I'm suggesting your attitude is suspect at the least and I'm asking you about it, which is actually a form of respect.

Something beyond the nuance of a lot of people on MDL is that while a person's RIGHT to express their opinion is one thing, and I agree with that. But demanding that a person's opinion, no matter how vile, is worthy of respect, is quite another. In other words, I respect your right to EXPRESS your bigotry and narrow-mindedness, but I do NOT respect your bigotry and narrow-mindedness. See the difference?

Interesting. It catches my attention because it sounds homophobic, as in you can't stomach the idea of two men openly and unequivocally loving each other. You can deal with the winking and nodding stuff but if it's in the open, forget it.

I'm gay and have watched straight romances of all kinds all my life. If I said "well, I won't watch a story about a man or a woman in love because, well, they're straight...but if it's hinted at but not clear that's OK..." I would not be surprised if someone asked me what my real problem is.

ANY statement like "I won't watch "__________________" kind of story, period" seems closed-minded and limiting to me. You're writing off thousands of live-action stories without seeing one second of any of them. I don't get it.

If you don't watch murder, kidnapping, rape, war, torture, etc. movies or series that's one thing, but those are all extremely negative behaviors involving violence and killing. Would you include open gay love in a list like that?

So please bear with me here, I like to ask questions: What is it about a story that eventually included confirmation that it is indeed male/male romance/love, ie. confession/kiss/sex/whatever that turns you off? What about that don't you care for?

What would make a Sus into a BL? Overt expressions of love?

lol This is what gets me: I DO like this show. I have praised every episode until the last three. I very specifically criticized the corporate intrigue plot and scenes related to that and I said why. So now you say "you don't like the show." lol This is why I often remark how hyper-sensitive MDLers are, not to people expressing opinions, but to people expressing opinions that don't match their own.

Also, it is juvenile that we all have to keep writing "this is just my opinion and everyone has their own opinion,, blah blah blah. YES. of course! I know people's comments are their opinions because they are writing the comments which contain their opinions. Why do we all have to keep reassuring each other that our opinions are our opinions, which are obviously our opinions because, you know, we wrote them? lol

You expressing your opinion means you've insulted everyone else and have prevented them from expressing their opinion...or...something...

I asked a question, expressing a thought I was having. Anyone who is not a "bot," who chooses to take offense anyway, either a bot or is way too hyper-sensitive and more interested in shutting down anyone who doesn't agree with them than in expressing their opinion about the show. Nothing I wrote prevents anyone here from saying anything they want. You don't have a right to a disagreement-free comment section and I'm not here to give you one.

I said nothing about "Western" vs. "Japanese" audiences. If you don't think Japanese production companies within Japan use bots to promote their products you are hopelessly naive. Paid bots are commonly used all over the world these days. China alone employs approximately 3M of them. I'm pretty sure a few of them are working this show.

If you don't think so and aren't one, why are you bothering me? I am not you and my opinion is that some Bots are almost certainly promoting this show. Remember, "everyone is not you and each of us have our own opinion," or does that apply in one direction only?

Ummm...I made all my points clearly and quite humorously the first time. You'd be laughing along if you agreed witht hem. No need to repeat for people who are butthurt that I don't love the Hardy Boys Mystery Hour aspect of this show, which had been excellent up to that point.

I mentioned LOTS of rational arguments and I'm not repeating myself for those who don't want to hear them no matter how well-argued.

Youtoon is full of excuse-making for poor writing, not sensible retorts. To me, YT does have low standards. I said so without calling names or using obscenities. If that's enough to get people here up in arms, well, I can live with that. YT said plenty of things I could choose to interpret as insults but somehow that misses your notice.

I'll continue to write what I think and choose to share. Skip my comments; it's not hard. Block me. The options are many.

Here again I see the willingness to accept terrible writing, cliches and tropes and stupidity because "it's a drama." This show was well-written and enjoyable until all this corporate stupidity showed up in the last three eps and it became an episode of "the Hardy Boys." I don't apologize for mocking its lameness at this point.

"We will let it slide whether good or bad." Exactly why crappy Asian dramas keep getting thrown at us; people will watch anything. I don't like shows where I have to "skip ahead" past large portions because they're stupid. So I posted my reaction as does everyone here. But because mine is negative these last few eps some take offense. OK, well, that's their choice.

I certainly didn't attack any commenter personally until I was insulted, so what exactly is the problem? That I don't agree with your take on the show? Sorry, no apology for that.

Hmmm...not really. I had fun with what I see as silliness in the show, but I mostly asked why he did not do all the things an intelligent person could have done, and the answer is "it's a drama."

No, he was in a "coma." WB was at his bedside and spoke clearly and loudly to him multiple times and he just laid there, unconscious. Then all of a sudden he's home. I'm surprised you're defending "BL Fever" as a real thing. Why WOULD he drink out of an open fountain when, again, he could have ordered delivery or called his dad or one of his friends? Because it was in the script, that's why.

It's fine either way. You see it your way, I don't. Also, I don't watch Asian dramas other than gay ones and knowing these are conventions seen often would only annoy me more. Tropes and cliches, repeated without creativity, cause me to roll my eyes, not think "oh, it's a drama so lazy writing is fine."

Anyway...my post was as much in jest, tongue firmly in cheek, as anything else. I've been annoyed with the last four eps because the show had been so good to that point, until we got mired in the big mystery-solving adventure.

If my low opinion of aspects of this show and the choice I make to creatively mock it as I see fit is taken by someone like you or someone else as a personal insult, that's on you and them, not me.

Secondly, is "what are you talking about? lol" generally meant as a compliment? Not to me it's not. People who dish it out but can't take it might want to stay out of comment sections altogether.

As to your reply, your rationalizations for the terrible writing and ridiculous situations above attest to the laziness of your own thinking, your willingness to stretch reality in the interest of accepting lazy writing, and your own low standards.

Or...one might think you were viewing this world of 8+ billion humans through the limitations of YOUR personal experiences. Nah, that couldn't be it.

But I'd go on to say the huge amount of time this series has devoted to the corporate mystery/boy dectectives was a mistake. Better to keep the focus on their developing relationship and the many fascinating, intriguing, tantalizing twists and turns it could have taken. In the end, how many viewers will think of this as "the show about the corporate mystery, the mother's car wreck, and how they sons solved the riddle of it all?"

How so? They are actors. Actors are artists. From Taiwan or Japan or Korea they can go anywhere and choose any role they want, no matter how gay. Are you talking about finances, as in China's huge market where they can make more $$$ if they become big stars? But what if they don't become huge stars, as 99% of actors don't? In China they'll have the boot of the government on their necks, restricting their choices. Not everything is about $$$.

Well, I have high standards for the dramas I watch even if you don't, so I notice and don't rationalize stupid things in the writing/plotting. Plus, the staying out in the sun and then the rain with no food for two days thing is ridiculous to begin with. Why didn't he stand or lay down on the grass in the shade? Why didn't he order a pizza with some beverages to be delivered? Why didn't he strip down and take a swim in the circular water feature to cool off? Why didn't he call his dad to bring him some food, drinks and an umbrella? If he was so sick and in a coma afterward, why was he in and out of the hospital in 12 hours? lol

I know...your answer to these questions is "It's a drama." Did you know that LOTS of dramas are well-written? No, seriously, it's true. I swear.

Also, your kind of thinking and low bar for quality is why so many dramas are written so badly. The production companies don't bother to make them as good as possible because people like you will watch whatever is put before them without complaint.

Sad to think how much better it could have been if it wasn't connected to the psycho/homophobic Chinese Central Committee on the Dangers of Everyone Who Sees a Gay Series Turning Gay and Destroying our Fake-Communist Country.

It's always been bizarre to me how Communist Countries are generally totalitarian AND oddly Puritanical, as most Westerners connect Puritanism and prudishness with the psycho-Christianity in their hemisphere. Also weird that they ban religion but then turn their "Great Leaders" into deities to be worshipped. Funny that their deity-dictators always die like any other human but everyone has to pretend to not notice this or get sent to a re-education camp.
