Thanks for the links! I think I will hold off on watching the vids til after the series is complete. Don't want my experience of the story to be effected by whatever is in those promos. But then again...you sure have gotten me curious. :D I like "different" in general. "Different" is the spice in life.

I'm with those who say YT is at least bisexual. His love for XZ is crystal-clear. He's simply unable/unwilling to experience the discomfort that would come from being openly in a relationship with a dude. So in a sad way, it was actually honest of him to refuse XZ, even though he loved him. What I didn't like, of course, was that he very well knew of his GAY feelings for XZ but also wanted to keep playing the homophobic straight guy role where other people were concerned. Which is fine, because in the end he is unworthy of XZ's affections anyway, and XB came along to bring all the milk to XZ's yard, or something like that. :)

I think it was quite clear that he is at least bi. In Ep. 5, when asked if he ever liked him, he proceeds with…
That scene was beautiful in a way, but also ugly in that it showed YT as willing to throw XZ a little candy kiss now and then to keep stringing him along. He knew exactly what he was doing. And then to turn his back and so coldly walk away...that was cruel and unnecessary. So I loved when XB came to the rescue and demanded that YT treat XZ with respect. I can't remember XB's exact line, something like "he may not love me yet, but he is mine!" but it moved me deeply. YT's retort, something about being a "homo" showed YT's true colors and they weren't pretty.

I agree that YT is bisexual, definitely leaning gay at least where XZ is concerned. It was clear in the tenderness with which he treated XZ even while palling around at school, that XZ was the one he loved. We never saw that kind of easy, natural affection with that horrible girlfriend of his.

This is definitely one of the better BL films I've seen. Although it was bittersweet it stayed true and realistic…
I don't know...I get the bittersweet elements were strong, but to me by the end XZ was totally on board with XB, even though he would always treasure his memories of YT as his first love. And that's fine, there's no need to pretend you didn't love others before finding the one you love for good. So I thought the ending was lovely and on the sweet side of semi-sweet.

This drama is one of the best bl dramas so far. I also thought the actors are so good in acting and the story…
8.5 from me. Love the actors and their acting!

I don't know...I keep seeing commenters say the acting left a lot to be desired, but I sure as hell found myself crying a lot and I don't do that in response to lousy acting. Yibo was sensational, Tao Ye was great, XZ's dear female best friend was excellent, the bitch was perfect, XB was a hot pile of sweet sincerity. Not sure what people are looking for. The series had a tiny budget and it showed at times; the editing could have been better; it was the honest/pure feels I got from the actors that kept me watching...and crying...a lot. :D

Hey, I DID get to see them hit the sack together! :D I had forgotten.

Having finished all six eps, I've been reminded what a little gem this series is. It doesn't get near the attention it deserves. Yibo is perfection in the role of XZ. Oh, so relatable and adorable. He took me on XZ's journey of the heart with him and I'm thankful for it. Leon too is exactly right as XB, who is exactly right for XZ. I'm so happy he came along for him when he needed him. But more so, I'm happy that XZ was able to open his heart and let XB in, rather than continuing to pine over YT and miss out on the love he deserves. That beautiful XZ solo to YT and his bride at the end was a lovely way to wrap things up. We need a sequel with XZ/XB's own wedding. :D

I cried off and on through eps 2 through 6, but my gutted tear ducts are well worth the experience. So glad to see a happy ending in a Chinese BL. I was kind of braced for disaster but it seems to me that XZ/XB are set to move forward together into the future.

Thank you to the actors and everyone involved with this series. Low budgets sometimes = big hearts. :D

Seriously? You can fully enjoy a show when you already know how it's going to end? I was wrecked by the ridiculously…
Yes, I suppose we all have our self-protective defenses. But in all sincerity, when I first discovered BL just over a year ago, I was completely defenseless against those horrifically tragic endings. I'd end up sobbing in my chair in front of my laptop, perhaps a relative nearby wondering if I had lost my mind. I was SO happy to have discovered the world of BL and Asian gay cinema presenting all these stories I could totally relate to in a way I never had to straight-themed romances/dramas. No one I knew knew anything about BL so there was no warning and I was completely vulnerable. Especially MODC, Gray Rainbow, UWMA and the film
Lan Yu" left me upset for days. Then those kind of cheap-shot endings started to piss me off. I despise the series Love of Siam specifically because of the awful, illogical and soul-crushing ending.

I have watched probably thousands of movies in my life and there is no equivalent in the straight world to the phenomenon of off-the-charts tragic/sudden/senseless/devastating endings found in BLs and Asian gay cinema, especially those from Korea and China.

The one way it's not cliched is that there are no clear semes & ukes. Possibly Chris & Jeno, but it's not as stark…
Of course, the show-makers haven't bothered to let us know what exactly Sky's ailment is or how he acquired it. I guess there was a car crash? (How original!) But was it a severe concussion or what? Did we see even one nurse or doctor in that hospital room? There was no oxygen mask or vitals monitors, etc. as one might expect when someone is in a coma. It was like he was just taking a long nap and no one seemed really all that concerned about when he might wake up. When he did, no nurses came in and Paper didn't bother to tell anyone. hahaha. Sometimes, BL production/writing standards are lower than my high school theatre productions.

It took me a while to catch on that Chris and Jeno were the nosy next-door dorm mate and his K-Popper roommate from TharnType! Loved them. So funny. Especially that scene where Chris was staggering down the hallway with Jeno wrapped around his leg, wailing and weeping. lol The way he would break into hysterics at the drop of a hat was hilarious. I'm going to choose to believe that they flip/flop in the sack. :D

I'm impressed with both of them as actors. Their characters here are so very different from who they were in TT. Chris is totally believable as a BMOC and athlete, at least to me, and Jeno is just plain hot so I don't really care what he does. Facially, he reminds me of the late singer Jonghyun of K-Pop band SHINee.

I also had forgotten how often I cried while watching this series the first time. :( My tear ducts ache. It is heart-breaking and so human that no matter how much time passes and how much we tell ourselves we are over someone, it is often the case we aren't over them at all. Sometimes the feelings have even deepened because they have never been resolved, like an open wound. Sometimes the object of our affection assumes perfection in our memories and the person we love doesn't really even exist.

Xiao Bu is the one for XZ of course but that doesn't mean XZ's heart will follow what his head already knows. I love Xiao Bu. What a sexy sweetie. I think Tao Ye is at LEAST bisexual. I think he loves XZ more than that awful girl he's with, if he loves her at all. Unfortunately he is not brave enough to live openly in love with a man, but he craves the affection he used to be able to count on from XZ. All this seems to have made him a somewhat cruel person who wants to keep XZ hanging by giving him a candy kiss every so often and then walking away, safe in society's view into the arms of that person he's dating. ugh. I was happy to see Xiao Bu confront him about it.

Kind of funny to me that they all talked like it had been years and years since high school, but according to the time-span of Tao Ye's relationship with the witch they can't be more than two years into college. Am I wrong?

I want to see XZ and Xiao Bu hit the sack together. They're beautiful.

Peng has dark circles and laughs too much? lol I'll have to check out some promo vids to see what you are talking about. Is there one or two you recommend? I generally stay away from promo vids as I think they are mostly bullshit and heavily orchestrated by their production companies. But now you've got me curious. :D

I think I agree about him being the best actor. And his easy, natural smile is stunning...so welcoming and friendly. I melt. When it comes to looks and open, slobbering lust however, I'm in the Charles Tu camp. Then again, certain camera angles leaving me gasping at the elegant, fluid beauty of Anson Chen's face. I need to do a portrait of him someday. His looks are definitely in the androgynous category which fascinates me to look at but doesn't really flip my switch sexually. If I got him in bed I'd probably want to just have him lay there and let me pose, photograph and sketch him. :D

Through ep 4 now. This show is very underrated in my book. The over-dubbing of the dialogue is horrible and distracting but after a while I get used to it and it doesn't bother me so much. But the acting, especially from Yibo and Fan, is excellent and makes up for the show's low budget shortcomings. I love XS's female best friend, she is so faithful and supportive to him. I'd like to see him acknowledge and appreciate her more. XS seems to take her a bit for granted and he doesn't seem like the type who would..

The father is horrid. I'd like ten minutes alone with him, the little shit. I am unclear as to why Tao Ye keeps hanging around with that terrible bitch of a girlfriend who has shown her true colors on several occasions. Tao Ye is such a good guy and cares deeply for XS. It doesn't seem true to his character that he would keep seeing her, given what she has done. I hated watching XS endure that motel room scene. I can only imagine how agonizing it would be to lay there and listen to that. Tao Ye is a sweetheart, but he's not very smart.

The OST is nice, especially that opening theme song. And for some reason the up-tempo number that comes in when action or momentum is happening really moves me to goose bumps. But it's all TOO LOUD... just turn it down a few notches please.

But done bitching...I am enjoying this series and since it's from China I can imagine the direction we're headed, but so far I'm OK with that because I can't change it and these young actors are giving me remarkable feels all over the place in the meanwhile.

Also like that the characters are lower class/income, judging from the condition of the school and some of their homes/neighborhoods. It's refreshing to see a story about high school kids who aren't all rich.

Like I said, interesting...hmmm. I would guess it's just some kind of situation in which your chemistry and Tong's just don't connect. Who knows why? There are some long-time Hollywood actors about whom I feel the same, now that I think about it. People with Academy Awards who don't do a thing for me when I see them on film. Robert DeNiro, Denzel Washington, Helen Hunt, and on and on...so now that your comments move me to reflect, it seems I know just what you mean, after all. Really great acting is pretty rare in BL world so when someone does an exceptional job I'm probably emotionally wide open to be moved by their performance.

I could be 100% wrong about this come next week lol, but I didn't take Xingsi's father telling him to come home…
That would be lovely. But kind of strange to speak to your son at such a crucial moment in florid metaphors instead of saying what you actually mean. But this IS a BL on the other hand, where strangeness is no stranger.

However, to me it would still be a step backward to move back home to an apartment where everyone's on top of each other 24/7 and he'd have zero privacy, especially since he is 30 years old and his current living situation is perfect. He can visit home as often as he likes.
