Person Chen
'Lee SungMin and Kim Jong Dae out'is trending on twitter right now. If it's really because they are married with…
Me neither. Read a tweet thread saying "it's not just cause he's married, it's basically cause he had consensual sex outta marriage and that's a bad moral influence" (paraphrased)

It drives me nuts how hypocritical Korean fans can be. For example trying to get a man fired for having a child with the lady he likes and then *gasp* marrying her instead of leaving because it sets a 'bad moral precedent', but a drama that depicts a relationship between a highschooler and someone physically twice their age was the a super popular drama and won tons of awards including 'best couple'.

I find it really entertaining! the aesthetics are really easy on the eyes, the music is great, the cast is pretty good, and the animated bits are great as well.

K, I might have to start it after King's avatar then.

I finally started watching Mr. Sunshine after seeing many people compare the writing in this with Goblin & Mr.…
The first ep of TKEM was pretty good though, same with Goblin. It was only at the end of TKEM's first that it started dropping in quality

I'll miss Shin Jae too, he has, hands down, the best character arc.
Well she wasn't wise to begin with, but she was at least a good fighter. That aspect of her was def gone by the end.

This was kinda weak, the whole drama... dunno the idea seemed interesting but somewhere, somehow things started…
Somewhere = end of first ep when he meets her.
Somehow = ditching good writing and attention to detail in service of tropes and romance.

Yup, I started this cause I'd heard WDH is fantastic and thought I hadn't seen him in anything, I walked away with two new faves and two new ones to look out for (Jung Chae In and Lee Jung Jin)

One problem is you're well aware of how the term 'haters' is actually used, and yet you try to say it means something…
Speculation: the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence.
You have only provided speculations as to why the writing suffered, that KES might suffer, and that people diss this for being different from what they are used to from KES.

Once again, I am talking about magic in writing. Magic shows are a completely different beast. But since you brought it up I'll indulge you. Every thing that happens in a Magic show is completely logical and possible, the audience finds it illogical because they don't understand how it was achieved, but when boiled down there are still very tangible steps taken and rules (the rules of physics usually) in place.

If magic doesn't make sense in fiction people will criticize it for not being well written. For example Harry Potter. There are a few things that are apparent: Witches/Wizards can't use magic without a wand... unless apparating. Magical items either are inherently magical or have magic cast upon them.
A lot of it is logical but you run into issues of the story presenting the strength of a spell being up to the strength of the castor, and then have a scene where someone is stronger through the use of two wands....
In TKEM the little rules that are laid out are broken, and there is a severe lack of explanation for how the magical time travel works.

Nope, he did not lose his cool there. losing his cool implies he gave way to a burst of anger or irrationality. Although now that I think about it he did when fake mom died.

Yeah same. If I know a person well enough and think they'd like it, I'm the first one to recommend it. I also have helped 2 sibs skip through so they only see what they'd like, and might help one of my Korean friends do the same. She dropped after ep 3 though so not sure.

One problem is you're well aware of how the term 'haters' is actually used, and yet you try to say it means something…
First: I literally said "It was only through watching this that I realized she had written 5 shows I consider not worth the watch."
I had no idea those projects had the same writer entil about ep 4 of this drama. not even WDH would have gotten me to watch this if I had known it was by the same writer as Goblin.

I never said KES wasn't an artist, or said she wasn't a writer. However speculating about the behind the scenes does not effect the quality of the work you claimed to be reviewing.

"Now, to the posters who defended the plot of the show, and said that you need imagination to understand the show, *you are a fool,* and giving us defenders a bad name."

Sorry, I'll amend. I meant in terms of writing for it not to be considered lazy/badly written, magic either has to be logical, like avatar the last airbender, or established to be completely illogical. This drama tried to set rules and follow a logical pattern but in the end broke those rules and needed a deus ex machina to fix things.

It's not about royalty, it's about the fact that LMH does the same things for people that come from wildly different backgrounds, hence why I brought up faith.

KES is the writer and does not affect LMH's acting. The director is the one who helps guide the actor's actions. When defending the character you talk about the writer, but when trying to defend the actor using a different person you should talk about the director.

Also no, LL failed because his plans were terrible, not because he kept losing his cool. In fact I have absolutely no idea what you're referencing when you say LL makes mistakes cause he loses his cool.

I am posting on a secondary account, because I don't want the haters of the show to attack me, so please kindly…
One problem is you're well aware of how the term 'haters' is actually used, and yet you try to say it means something else entirely. You also said there are critics who negatively review and those who positively review, so you'll just use 'haters' as a shortcut but previously used 'critics' to refer solely to those who have been critiquing the drama negatively.
Another problem is that I don't hate this show, but I have critiqued it. I also don't love it, so I'd far from call myself a fan. The only term that actually applies is the one that should have been used in the first place: critic.

This is not a review.... Should be labeled 'In defense of KES and LMH'

What you think happened behind the scenes, does not effect the given project's quality, and thus should not effect one's review of it.
Also I've never liked KES's writing, it's had the same problems throughout. It was only through watching this that I realized she had written 5 shows I consider not worth the watch. Suggesting the backlash is because of her trying a different genre may be in part true, but definitely not to the extent you implied.

Please do not insult other commentators.

KES had nothing to do with the CGI, so if that's what is good about the fantasy then please attribute it to those who deserve it. I don't actually think the fantasy was that good. Even magic needs some sort of logic to it, even if that logic is that it is illogical, it's still better than pretending there are rules then breaking them.

People are criticizing LMH for bad acting in this project, not for his personality. His presence, in this case, is more about looks rather than ability. Also you are confusing acting with writing. He was written to be arrogant. My critiques for LMH comes from his lack of range between characters. Every scoff is the same, every walk, every run, also every smile. basically he only portrays emotions 1 way with very little variance in how he moves and delivers lines. The way he speaks as a king and the way he speaks as a warrior should be incredibly different, but they aren't.

I my case I am glad that I didn’t pay attention to the bad reviews and comments, I loved the drama so much!!!…
My best advice is finding reviews that go into detail about the thing you care about. For me if someone say's the music is bad I'll assume it's just not their taste, however if they say it was fine but forgettable, that usually means the music is mediocre and/or the music editing wasn't done well. Although that still isn't a deal breaker for me, I'd adjust my expectations accordingly when watching.

I really don't understand how you can write that this drama is bad, of people who stopped watching it after episode…
I went into this one knowing it's somewhat notorious in my house. As I went I noted things that my family may dislike (in case I were to recommend it to the sibs who hadn't seen it). At first it was just things like 'slow paced, possibility of boredom' , but by the time I dropped it it was because of the protagonist's carelessness regarding important matters and plot points happening suddenly when they easily could have utilized things they'd built during the slower pace.

Have been wanting to see this one so I decided now is as good a time as any to watch it. Usually SBS has their dramas up for free but this one happens to be one of the ones that costs! might be a while before I can watch it.

It's been fun my friend, I'm prepping my in depth review. Luckily 2 members of my fam actually like the show.
It will be generally negative, but the first part is going to include a note about those who are likely to enjoy it. My main goal is to save people the time or get it to those who'd enjoy it, so the fact that 2 of my fam members actually liked it makes it feel like less of a waste for me.
