Started, and so far not regretting it! Honestly so far I'm not sure where they're going with the unusual abilities plot, but this show could have easily done without it as well!
Yes! I dropped at ep 3, picked up after few weeks, dropped at ep 5... But sometimes you just gotta have faith…
The ratings only indicate popular opinion. The thing that actually persuaded me to give this another go was a comment made by a while back about the lack of chemistry between the 2 leads, but also praising that the lead sought out help for mental issues.
The tag was about an adult/minor relationship. The main two started seeing each other while he was still a minor in highschool cause he was pretending to be his older brother. That's what I've heard from people who've seen it, I'd have to watch for myself to confirm.
Legit points to add to the defenders side:1. performances from supporting cast such as Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung…
I get that. A while back I had a discussion with someone over 'negative press ruining ratings.' I realized the discussion wasn't worth it when they said that Lee Gon defeating Japan would have (should have) been seen as a 'glorious victory' if it hadn't been for nitpicks in the media. Because of that convo I try to not engage as much as possible. I've gotten it down from 50 comments per day to probably less than 20 XD
For sure, these comments are gold and really do help get the noggin working and writing flowing.

Yeah, but there are also defenders who concur on some of the critics points. Just because both sides agree on some points doesn't mean they should be omitted. It doesn't make sense to only list the voice of the loudest defenders and points that have no real relation to the quality of the show, when there are legitimate praises to be had.
I've gone ahead and distilled the Defender's comments and the Critics and here is what I have. Maybe defenders…
Legit points to add to the defenders side:
1. performances from supporting cast such as Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, Jung Eun Chae, and Lee Jung Jin
2. The visuals, a lot of the scenes are really prettily built from costume design to lighting. (There is also a visual to go in the cons side such as confusing camera angles)
3. Shin Jae's story arc
4. Set design for the interior of the palace... I want Lee Gon's study.
That's all I have, for now. These are my points, but I'm sure they've been brought up before.
