Is anyone else dying to see that tension between Padbok and Sab come to a head? The chemistry is RIDICULOUS between…
Whether or not Padbok was kidding, ever since he showed that spark of interest in Kit a few episodes ago I've been dying to see something that takes the character in a BL direction. I was excited to see the encounter between him and Sab.
You're right -- their chemistry is on fire, and Junior Ronnakorn has charisma for days. (He reminds me of Hwang In Yeop in 'True Beauty' -- a actor who also happens to have played a bully who turns good in 'Eighteen Again'.)
Sab is a great counterpoint to Padbok -- the kind of guy who could actually tame him, and I can see where their dynamic could fuel an entire series.
In fact my ideal Season Two would feature those two and Thanu-Phai.
The series doesn't seem able to decide if Bryce is a nice guy or a jerk. In Episode 4 he was a complete d*ck but now he's all sweet on Bart.
Bart's makeover probably has something to do with it. As Bryce's own voiceover says: "[Bart] looks really different now compared to when he was in Barrio Balay. He looks decent or cute."
(Confession: I think Bart has always been both decent *and* cute, even when he was still in Barrio Balay. In fact at this point he is perhaps the only truly decent character in the whole series.)
As for the series, it's like there's a good story in there somewhere, struggling to free itself from all the superficiality. But for now it mostly plays like 'Manila 90210'.
I noticed three writing credits for Episode 5, so maybe that's part of the problem.
So many complainers! I thought it was a terrific episode.
But oh no, they introduced something metaphysical! Run for the exits! We want our ordinary BL back!
You people complain about the same-ness in all these dramas but as soon as one of them serves up something different you just bitch bitch bitch. LOL
What happened this week was foreshadowed by the sense of destiny that's been building between Phai and Thanu since they first saw each other outside the cafe. Why didn't you complain about that moment?
There have been near-misses for the two of them meeting, and for once it was rewarding to see a series do something special with the moment when the near-misses finally become a bullseye.
The 'vision' moment was unexpected but well-directed. That one camera move toward Phai and then Thanu was *chef's kiss*.
I want to share a few things The male actor Kim yohan is rookie actor. This is his debut as an actor. But as an…
It might be that the Heon character has been purposely made so soft and bland specifically because the actor in the role is such a rookie. When you think about it, he really has very few lines of dialog and so far the only one that required any emotion was when he called the FL a loser.
I never gave much thought to this. It will be interesting to see if the Kdrama version of has Heon show any emotions at all beyond his wane smile. Will we see the equivalent of the soul-baring conversation that Jiang Chen has with Bo Song toward the end of the Cdrama version? That could prove to be Kim Yohan's big moment. If they fail to include it then that will tell us something.
I'm kinda bummed that Heon will get away with 'apologizing' with a simple 'Don't leave,' since his put-down of Sol Yi was so much worse than what we saw in the Cdrama version.
Calling someone an embarrassment is a statement that refers to something that person did -- i.e., a behavior -- whereas calling someone a loser is summing up their personality in a more definitive way. It's so much more hurtful. At a young age that can really damage someone's outlook on life -- even more so if it has come from someone you're in love with.
Which means I really, REALLY wish that Dae Sung would prevail at the end, because Heon is a POS. Dae Sung is by far the more caring and selfless person. For me, I don't know how Heon will come back from this.
Is there any Asian drama set in contemporary times that *doesn't* include a scene where a character starts to type a text to someone on their phone, then changes their mind and repeatedly backspaces to delete it? xD
I've been staunch defender of this series but Episode 8 ... wow. What a mess. It's like Tonhon had a brain transplant, and who in their right mind would choose him over Na after you see what a supportive, truly selfless friend he has become to Chon?
The series took a risk by making Na such a lovable character, and they lost. Now most of us will be disappointed by the endgame.
I really hope that Tor and Boom can make it work this time. I really like them together despite everything, because…
Over on YouTube there's lots of dislike for Tor but he does truly love her. They have such great chemistry. I hope Tor appreciates that he will have one of the most beautiful women in the world as his wife!
The end of Episode 5 surprised me. Having seen the Cdrama, I'd been waiting to see how the Kdrama would depict the moment when Heon rebukes Sol Yi after she has ruined the stage show with her clumsiness.
What surprised me is how harsh Heon is by calling Sol Yi a loser. Up until now we've had this 'soft' version of the character, so I'd expected a softer version of the rebuke as well. (In the Cdrama, Jiang Chen only tells Xiao Xi that she's an embarrassment.)
Now, it could be argued that it is precisely because Heon has been such a mild character in the Kdrama that what he says to Sol Yi has to be meaner than a simple 'you're an embarrassment', but I also think the Kdrama gives Seon a rather flimsy reason for saying it.
In the Cdrama, Jiang Chen gets jealous when he sees the matching 'Tom and Jerry' couple shirts that Xiao Xi and Bo Song are wearing. Up until that moment he has known that they've become close friends, with Bo Song always protecting her, but with the couple shirts it hits home that Bo Song might be a true rival for Xiao Xi and that Xiao Xi might actually be returning Bo Song's feelings.
In the Kdrama, Seon has gone to find Sol Yi to comfort her and put a jacket around her because she has gotten her shirt wet. When he gets backstage he sees that Dae Sung has beat him to it, by removing his own jacket and giving it to her, and this makes Seon fume to the point that he calls her a loser.
Borrowing someone's jacket in a time of need seems a lot less intimate than voluntarily wearing a matching pair of couple shirts, especially since Seon has already seen Dae Sung treating Sol Yi as someone special for quite a while.
I hope in Episode 6 that Sol Yi will show the same amount of backbone as Xiao Xi does when giving Heon the cold shoulder. Based on the preview it looks like there will be the same plot development where Sol Yi decides to transfer to another school and Heon stops her by telling her not to go -- which is exactly what Jiang Chen says to Xiao Xi -- but since Heon's put-down was so much harsher I hope he'll do a little more by way of apologizing.
As I've thought about this series after finishing, one moment that stands out as particularly hilarious is toward the end when Asahi has put the comatose girlfriend of Tsuneo in a wheelchair and surprises him by grandly wheeling her into the classroom for a final confrontation.
She's still unconscious, of course, and wearing a frilly bonnet like a baby doll. Her head just lolls back and forth as he pushes her forward in the chair.
By this point so many absurdities have piled up, but this one truly made me laugh out loud, and it seemed to confirm once and for all that this series is simply a dark comedy where the goal is to keep surprising us by always stretching things just a little farther.
This drama is more and more unsettling for me. For Episode 4, I was tense the whole time and got choked up at some points. I'm not sure why.
The only other time I've had this kind of reaction to a series or film was with the movie 'Call Me By Your Name'. I was so obsessed that while it was still in theaters I went to see it multiple times. I'm glad this series is already on video to start with or I'd be off the deep end again lol.

Lots of money spent on everything but the script, but the pretty boys are clearly bringing in the viewers.

A spinoff for Na would ease my pain.
And no suspense given to Golf's reappearance. Within the first couple of minutes Bank knows he's still alive!
