You literally just said that having the gay relationship in the show like it was in the novel would make it too "trendy." That's what I was calling out.

I'm not accusing anyone enjoying the show or commenting here of being homophobic, I was saying it seemed like homophobia was the reason the BL aspect was removed, and I didn't like how users who were expressing their disappointment were being dismissed as fetishizers for wanting it in.

Doesn't change the fact that it's censored. My existence as a gay person isn't a trend, and neither are stories about gay characters and relationships. We aren't just "trendy."

It's ok for people to be disappointed and offended that the work was censored, and it's disheartening to see those expressing that disappointment being dismissed as fujoshis fetishizing gay relationships. BL has exploded in popularity and viewership in the past 5 years or so and is regularly watched by LGBT people. I am one. Stripping it from the plot reeks of caving to homophobic pressure. I think people should still watch it if they enjoy it, but try to understand why this is an issue to us.

How? Love for Love's Sake has an interesting story too, and yet still managed to keep its gay romance plot. Stripping it out reeks of caving to homophobia, which doesn't sit well with some LGBT viewers.

Geonu confessing to JM out of nowhere near the end was funny to me, because he only seemed interested in Mew before that. Honestly, JM & Geonu should have just had their own BL instead of whatever this was...

The leads are cute and have chemistry, but that ending was not it...

No. It took until halfway through ep 5 for the main leads to even really meet!

Was this script even written by a human being? Just lots of awkward nothing. The acting is bad, Mew's dad looks like a serial killer, the creepy vet guy gets too much screentime, and the leads haven't even met yet. This show makes Peach of Time look great in comparison. 😅

This show mostly seems like a jumbled confused mess so far, which is worrying since it literally had years to be edited. I like seeing JM and Geonu, but this just isn't it so far...

Ep 1 was a little weak, but ep 2 was much better imo.

The game world became the real world for him when Yeowoon pulled him into it on the beach at the end. You can even see the shift. When it showed Myungha's past, it was fullscreen, but the game world was widescreen. Then when Yeowoon pulled him in, it became fullscreen too.

Apparently it's trending in the top 3 for overseas dramas on weibo!

Well, they did in some cultures. Parts of ancient Greece for example didn't mind homosexuality, and there were famous heroes like Herakles/Hercules and even major gods like Apollo and Aphrodite who were famously bisexual.

People can't "become" gay. They either are or they aren't. I was always gay, but never came out as such until I felt safe. It's the same for many others. Just because someone comes out as gay doesn't mean they were straight before doing so. That's not how human sexuality works.

We were always here, we're just more comfortable expressing it now.

I haven't been this much of a mess after a BL ending since I Told Sunset About You. I keep coming back to thinking about it! It made me both happy and lonely in the same way.
