I have been looking at parts of the episodes, and clips, on Youtube, which do not have English subtitles, but I found some Tweets that might enlighten the curious about that show.

Cast list has the wrong actress listed as "Chun Er". It should be "Li Yu" I'm not going to bother trying to correct…
Yes, there is another mistake. That's why I compiled the whole cast list with pictures and short bio for each actor/actress on the CCC "discussion" : https://kisskh.at/discussions/lang-jun-bu-ru-yi/110459-the-princess-and-the-werewolf-cast-characters-crew That one is, as far as I've checked and rechecked, correct and (almost) complete, since one actor mysteriously did not appear in cast lists anywhere, but since there is a gif and pictures, here is where the sleuths could add the missing name as comment to this work !
Frost_edelweiss, a member of MDLhttps://kisskh.at/profile/Frost_edelweisshas very generously undertaken…
Thank you for liking it, but... due to a mistake in saving it, after I added the data about the Farewell movie (!) the profile got lost. I will try to rebuild it, but it may take some time, so let's say wait until next week... Hope I will remember all I wrote and compiled. It was a long thing and I only saved a small part in a side draft. My bad.
Oh. I see. Unlucky for both of them. Bummer. I liked him. Too bad he has a crazy ex-girlfriend. I still want to…
This site is a good source for more complete infos, especially since it links to the Chinese sources sites such as Baidu, so it's possible to find more and even short bios there for the Chinese Hanzi readers.
Another Asian drama with racist comments about a whole continent. Africa is a continent of 54 beautiful countries…
Many cast Asia as a similar death trap: when it's not malaria and plague, it's terror and women rapes and burning or who knows what deathly prisons poor innocent visitors might get thrown in to rot bc of local politics or religion...
Traveling can indeed mitigate the bias. Although some cling to it even while spending time in other country, trying to impose their ways of thinking about politics and life, religion, as if only their world view was valid. Biases are found everywhere in every book, news, movie and drama, so just slide over the passing comment, instead of going all sjw about a detail : it's a quirk, which shows that indeed many Chinese don't know everything, are wary about risks and listen to adverse news to make their opinions, just as Americans (remember BLM?) or for that matter Africans or Europeans do as well. I wouldn't be so presumptuous to shout against it from a holier-than-thou stance : I don't hate people, works or else for their occasional (even sometimes persistent bias, that can be rooted in time history or culture) : it is better to talk in a more balanced way, and if possible, viral (yes) instill more positive and reasonable thought, but that takes calm, not knee-jerk reactions.
Africa is very diverse, and things are not rosy there everywhere, even if, like on any continent, beautiful places and people can be found. Yes, I've traveled to dangerous places, and been warned not to let down caution, by the locals themselves (notably in RDC, Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique) ; just the same as when I lived in New York, Philadelphia, ... and in many other countries where I worked, visited, camped and drove. Caution even if sometimes exaggerated, is not a sin.
Sweet Teeth is just a little romance that does not dwell on the horrors of this world. Don't let the passing quirk that irked you, about fear of disease, color the whole story or Chinese people for you.
Disclaimer, I am not a specialist: just an explorer of the colorful jungle and Beasts that people c-ent, but pleased by the encouragement I got from a couple of Xuanyi "yiyuan" fans from MDL. On my journey, I discovered to my pleasure many songs that I did not know (I like music, and have eclectic tastes), a couple that she covered and that I knew from ex SHE member Hebe's solo career later or Z.Tao : yes I know, that's a wide gap musically; not Xuanyi's usual variety. She also worked on the side with her friend Lil Ghost, Xiao Gui, who is more than a rapper, but not yet a big star. As for dramas and music, although I did not love them all, I happen to have watched most of them, perhaps because I am a compulsive c-drama and movie watcher. Among the screen work of Xuanyi, Douluo and the Princess are to my mind the best, but Sweet Teeth was a sweet comedy for me too all considered; the Romance is "special". Makes me think that now despite the temptation of other watching, I ought to go back to re-watch Douluo, to give it a rating too. At the time when I watched it, I only did haphazard rating, if and when I thought about logging onto MDL. Now, I am more often here, so should perhaps add what I did watch but did not log in- hmm. That might be a long task, and I'm lazy... Plus rating and reviewing can be a chore, so I only do it on a whim.

This has supposedly been released in 2017 in Canada under the title "The Taste of the First Love". According to IMDB, that lists also screenwriter Xiaxiao Liang, further to director David Kuang, this is the story (see below for a better description) :
"In the United States, Bai Manna is disease severity. She recalled the past 40 years ago. During the cultural revolution, Manna (Xuanyi Wu) is in a southern county middle school China. She reported her mother had an affair, causing the mother was sent to the countryside, and later Manna got into emotional entanglements between gongnongbing student Li Cong (Zhengting Zhu) and the local bully leader Qin Xiao (Yixuan Zhou). She taste the forbidden fruit with Qin Xiao. Qin Xiao met a top bag political disaster to protect Manna. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. And the diary Manna lost when others searched her house and confiscated her property, was popular with the name 'Manna's memories' and 'heart of a maiden', as in the manuscript widely spread, as hundreds of millions of Chinese common adolescent enlightenment memory." Better then : "In the United States, sick Manna Bai recollects her life from 40 years ago. During the Cultural Revolution, Manna (played by Wu Xuanyi, singer of Cosmic Girls group) is attending prefectural secondary school in South China. She reports her mother, who was having an affair, causing her mother to be relocated into a village. She becomes involved with university student Cong Li (played by Zhu Zhengting, also idol singer of pd101) and local gangster Xiao Qin (Zhou Yixuan, also idol singer of UNIQ), losing her virginity with Qin. To protect Manna, Qin takes responsibility for a political crime she accidentally commits and is sentenced to 10 years' labor reform. Manna loses her secret diary when her home was ransacked. The diary was widely copied in the entire country and becomes the favorite amongst the youth of an entire generation. "

Interestingly, before it was canceled, this movie got tied to a hoax on Internet, on April 26, 2017, according to which lead actresses Xuanyi and Meiqi were lesbian billionaires who had married ! In fact, a Twitter spoof was showing a cropped picture of the heads of the two singer-actresses who had just starred in the then upcoming movie Marna, and were attending the BJIFF (Beijing International Film Festival) together with actors of movies ‘StepUp6’ and ‘The taste of first love’, all in event long gown finery. When asked for a source, Twitter was tongue-in-cheek referred to the Cosmic Girl’s MV of the song « I wish » ! [full story on https://www.hellokpop.com/internet/cosmic-girls-fans-trolled-internet/]
Cosmic Girls (also known as WSJN – Wonder, Joy, Sweet, Natural) was a girl group under Starship Entertainment ("who also managed Korean groups Boyfriend, Monsta X, and Sistar, among others"). Cosmic Girls was comprised of 13 members : 10 Koreans (Seola, Bona, Exy, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, Yeonjung), and 3 Chinese (Xuan Yi, Cheng Xiao, Mei Qi). Their Ujung (Friendship in Korean) fans were responsible for the spoof that brought the group a lot of attention at the time : the MV of the song was watched more than 2.5 million times ! Thanks for the information and news...but why is everyone worried about CZY because of "the white olive tree "drama...…
You will find more about it on the White Olive Tree MDL page : it has to do with worries about the author having been targeted by accusations, and as you know, the C-Net is very touchy about anything that touches some claims, and can turn against actors who get themselves involved with such projects. Since Wang Yuwen seemed to have run away from trouble , it had some yuanbaos worry that CZY should perhaps follow suit, for his own good. But he has decided otherwise, is happy to play something different from the eternal pink faced heart throb. He is switching to less romantic only roles, like in Dark Night and Dawn.
Now, since a launch date seems to be firmly set, and Liang Jie who is no spring chicken in C-ent, decided to join, then I assume most worries have been leveled to some satisfaction. Another worry was that it would be a dark tragedy, since the book does not have a happy end. But the drama is an adaptation, so the screenwriter's rewrite may change that; The White Olive Tree drama is indeed rumored to have a HE. That's all I know at the moment. You can follow on CZY's news through this excellent FB fanpage that reposts much from CZY's official pages on Weibo and xiaohongshu : https://www.facebook.com/chenzheyuanbao/ I'm looking at it among other sources now, to add to the CZY Profile I started.
Well I do that now, but I am also interested in other artists and stuff, so will not camp out to maintain the column every day now that Qi Xi is over, HL + TPATW are not any longer hottest news, and DNAD has wrapped so we must wait probably for a long while before watching it. I wish Chinese Paladin4 that's still awaiting to air will not be delayed for years like TPATW was...
But - since I understand it is part of the spinoff of a game universe I am not familiar with, and that "season 5" was released in ... 2016! - and "season 4" with CZY an Ju Jingyi was to be a prequel to that one, wrapped filming in Feb. 2022, and projected to air in 2023, - but now we have a "season 6" with Xu Kai and Esther Yu which is being pitched by TenCent complete with QiXi wishes (here: https://twitter.com/dramapotatoe/status/1693810468211880393?s=20 ) ... now, I wonder if CP4 is not glued to the shelf, despite rumored for October (unlikely) or Q1 on iQiyi, so...
Because like many people, I am fickle, very lazy, have many other "screen favorites", and other life, I will be straying to stay with those others, until "our hero" Gege re-emerges in the limelight (which I don't doubt he will).
At present, getting back to watch Lost You Forever, plus two that I left too long on hold. After some needed R&R :)
On the occasion of qixi festival 22nd August, 2023.(Chinese Valentine's Day) Wishing both Qi pa and Kui Mulang…
Yes, I used a few pictures from that 23 episode to make gif for the occasion! The moment when Qi Pa and Kui Mulang listen to the magpie chirping (yes they can imitate songbirds!) is so sweet. They look like enraptured and thinking about the famous legend about the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, the mortal commoner with the immortal princess who got separated by the cruel Heavens but for whom the clever birds flock to form a bridge across the galaxy, so they can reunite yearly once, at least.
Btw did you know that another name for the Qīxì jié festival on "Double Seven" (that's because it is on the 7th day of 7th month of lunar calendar) is also called Qǐqiǎo 乞巧 ?
No, the qiǎo does not refer to homophonous bridge 桥 (mostly made of wood in ancient China, that's why you got the "tree" key in that character) but to the ancient custom of girls "praying" (乞) for "cleverness" (巧) to the fairy Seven Sisters Qī jiě 七姐 (or 七仙女) on that day, and customarily eating "clever fruit", painting their nails, showing off their embroidery or making 巧姑 qiǎo gū ( straw dolls with colorful clothes) for the occasion.
Qīxì was in very ancient times a sacrifice to Altair and Vega, the brightest stars in the sky on that night, but after the the Han Dynasty, Qīxì jié Festival began to be associated with the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, and officially became a festival for men and women of the right age. The festival flourished in the Song Dynasty. At present, it has become a traditional festival in Chinese regions and East Asian countries.
"In Singapore, the Seven Maidens’ Festival was popularly celebrated in the 1920s, ’30s, ’50s and ’60s. The Chinatown would be awashed in lights put up by the Seven Sisters’ Associations. These associations, comprising unmarried women (ma-jie), would compete to put up colourful paper shrine offerings to the mythical star-crossed lovers. The festival was of special significance to single females, who would pray for a good husband and a happy marriage." The Seven Sisters cult was important in Guangdong, China, where many maids sworn to celibacy as domestic help in Singapore originated from...
Now, what "clever fruit" are we going to find for celebrating the occasion ? Durian ???!!! 😲 .......... . . . . .......................................... (⊙_⊙')
No. Sometimes fruit are not fruit; the "clever fruit" qiǎo guǒ 巧果 is made of dough pressed in various shapes that can be used as snacks or threaded with red thread for decoration. On the evening of Qīxì Festival, women and children throw qiǎo guǒ to the back of the house, hoping that the magpies will make the bridge and let the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl cross the Milky Way to meet each other at night. Alternately, the Máqiǎo 麻巧, formerly known as qiǎoshí, is a "traditional snack and a specialty of Wenzhou, for the Qīxì festival". It is "made of high-quality flour, sucrose, lard, salt, soda and other raw and auxiliary materials, which are made into a tongue shape, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and baked.""The Máqiǎo produced by Wenzhou Bakery Food Factory won the Best Product Award of Zhejiang Commercial Tradition in 1983!"
Nowadays, embroidery competitions, praying to the Seven Sisters, and making these traditional things, has become uncommon, as the festival is mostly aimed at promoting fashion, beauty brands, and high-end jewellery, like ALLOVE (launch event on Qi Xi, August 22 2023, featuring Chen Zhe Yuan as ambassador) or L'Occitane products (event promotion by Zhao Lusi for Qi Xi 2023)
While the day wanes, and Chen Zheyuan's latest work in progress (DARK NIGHT AND DAWN, slated for 2024 airing, has wrapped, with him sharing roses and snacks with his attentive fans, you can have a look at this cute clip from THE PRINCESS AND THE WEREWOLF, ep. 23, where the Qi Pa and the werewolf King, Kui Mulang listen to magpies chirping like songbirds (yes magpies can really do that!) in a flowering peach tree + find a viral pitch for TPATW gleefully inserted in his former co-star's latest brand event.

.......... . . . .
.......................................... (⊙_⊙')
