In one GIF I made from an official poster, it was clearly mentioned that CZY will have 3 dramas airing in 2024: Chinese Paladin 4, Dark Night and Dawn, and The White Olive Tree (still filming in Sichuan where he is paired with ex co-star from Handsome Siblings, which remains his own favorite.) More about that in the Shelved & Upcoming Dramas "chapter" of the Profile. From his Weibo, last post said he was "very tired but very happy". Liang Jie has not posted much either on her own social media, just a note that she will be watching the costume drama The Inextricable Destiny, featuring Ireine Song, which started airing yesterday (available also on Youtube with English subs).

Meanwhile there are more news from his ex costar of Hidden Love who was appointed Global brand ambassador for WeTV and honored by Versace in the Milan fashion week not long ago : she was recording a new song set for release on Oct16, after the Douyin night where she will be singing a song that she rehearsed with Wang Sulong. Here's a new song to listen to. Lusi announced it in the Teenie Weenie brand event in Chengdu a month ago, when she also impishly repeated 3 times that her favorite dish was 肉圆子 [ròu yuánzi] (meatballs) , make of it what you want 🤣
It's an adaptation of the Pixxie song Whatever (that Thai song is quite different in meaning, though), which she gleefully and laughingly started singing lyrics of: "Baby you are my Light"! ........ once again, make of it what you want 🤣🤣

The song was indeed recorded and I just got notified of the lyrics MV (although being able to read Chinese characters is needed there, but I don't doubt some helpful keluli and music lover will post a version with translation soon on Youtube) 🤗

In fact, there are so many reasons one drama is not one's cup of tea at one moment, and might be the one to rave about at another time...
I don't pay much attention to ratings, reviews, and even hype. Prefer to dive in haphazardly and often find pleasant surprises. If the drama for some reason did not grab me, I will let it slide before it gets in my list,bc I hate the word "dropped". If it does, I am very patient and lenient, so I often try to find the redeeming things that could interest me, like settings, quotes from literature, dramas, adfest, whatever. !!

I am totally comfortable that everyone does not like everything from Z.Tao or others, even when I like it. Yes, it is better to be happy about what you are watching, so I wish you'll draw your lucky number soon among the many dramas that are airing or recently aired. No dubbing is listed on Baidu, nor has the crew a dubbing director. To me, it is Tao's voice.
I listen to him often because am a fan of his music, also watched quite a few of his dramas, movies, and parts as mentor or member of entertainment shows. Following the Baidu Huang Zitao bar channel on Youtube to be aware of his concerts and live streams.

I don't think he'd agree to dubbing now, if he ever did, because his accent is good mandarin and does not need any tweaking. He always has clear and understandable speech. The only reason he'd agree to it, I imagine, is if he had no time for post production. But I don't doubt he puts the projects he does first, and would put everything on hold to do his own dubbing when needed. He is a pro.

Fun Fact. Z.Tao is a genuine CEO.... He has several businesses and owns an entertainment company called Longtao, a fashion brand called YKYB. He is not a small business owner either but a multi billionaire with a Jet Lear plane and many cars that he likes to drive occasionally.
He started out as breakaway from his billionaire family in Qingdao to run to South Korea and become one of the stars of ExoM group, because he is both a martial artist and a singer and dancer, and was the last of the four who returned to China (Luhan... ) except if you consider that Lay Zhang still kept a line with the Korean company while working in China, until his contract expired last year. Huang Zitao/ Z.Tao is also composer and songwriter of songs that appeal to his fan crowd of "hailang" (ocean waves). I know most of his songs, and his quirky personality does not faze me. He has financed and launched shows such as Chuang 2018 and more. The only thing I am a bit worried about is his love of tattoos, that have become very much frowned upon in officialdom, but he is very tall, muscular enough and is a sort of "godson" of Jackie Chan, so... He is an interesting guy.

He also genuinely loves dogs, showed his own in some livestreams (he does at least one long one, over one hour, yearly, where he rambles about all sorts of things that are on his mind. Usually with some friends, like Luhan.)

His hair. I am not into that sort of hairdo, but it is his style. He has dyed it every color of the rainbow, cut it almost to the skin for one movie, and perhaps he is happy that it grew back so he lets it fluff up in his signature mullet style. So be it. He stands out in a crowd. Some find him handsome, some don't. To each their own. I admit I prefer Chen Zheyuan's hair style.
I agree about the criticism of the makeup, although perhaps it is a consequence of that role where he shaved off everything. So he looks like he got painted on or plucked eyebrows now, not the best look for him.

But Z.Tao is Z.Tao. "Salute to the hailang", as he says in some concerts, where he is kind enough to bring into the limelight new voices. He is considered as the "king of C-pop", as different from mando and cantopop. I love the recording of his Nanjing "The Road" concert, and some Qingdao concerts too. But he also professes his love for movies and dramas, and his ideal is to be seriously remembered as also and perhaps first, as an actor.

I liked his playing in The Negotiator, The Brightest Star in the Sky, Hot blooded youth, Forward Forever, Legally Romance, and watched some of his travel shows around the world, to Svalbard and Iceland and parachuting over a volcano in Madagascar, if I remember well... He was very daring and active.

There's only screenwriter and producer mentioned on Baidu etc. Mysterious, since the shooting has started and from the snippets, it looks like there was quite a big crowd of cast and crew involved "in the wild" of Sichuan mountains, although the only other name I caught was that of Mimi, a young child actress!

Rewatching as part of a "Secrets" contemporary youth theme stories in c-drama comparison : 2023 Hidden Love drama, 2007 Secret movie directed and played by Jay Chou ; 2017 Secret Fruit movie with Chen Feiyu as Duan Bowen and Ouyang Nana as Yu Chizi ; The Left Ear 2015 movie with Chen Duling and Yang Yang ; 2021 Our Secret with Chen Zheyuan and Rainbow Xu Mengjie, 2022 Time and him are just right... and Meteor Garden 2000 and 2017.

If the dangerous profession in Road Home scares you too much (ML won't get killed despite he could have been), try Hi Venus first. The beginning is rather comedic. There are no bombs there. And Liang Jie has a wonderful dialogue with Steven Zhang Xincheng: a piece for drama anthology!
Both dramas are more for mature audience, who like to enjoy slower pace with hardly any fillers, and like details and settings too. If the second could make one think at first it might be yet another fluffy Cinderella/Mary Sue/CEO with "caged canary" story, they quickly find that it is entirely different. No cringe. No big age gap either, for both stories.

only hinted to to explain the hiatus and reunions which is the gist of the story. Of course, since the ML is a bomb squad pro, he is not taking his fiancee and wife to danger zones where he works.
It is a very beautiful drama, and in Discussion section above Comments, you can find a lot about the real places where it was filmed, very picturesque. If you are in for love and kisses, there are plenty of them too.

If you like really sweet ships, I very strongly recommend watching and rewatching Hidden Love. That one is perfect. Really.
I already liked Chen Zheyuan from long ago. I now follow his Weibo every day now! That bad 😂 (after all, he did play Mr Bad nicely, didn't he?). You can check the Profile I did for him. It is parked for convenience in the Discussion section of his future drama (now filming in the mountainous Liangshan area of Sichuan): The White Olive Tree. Lots of illustrations and trivia about his career that you won't find in other profiles, direct links to songs and dramas for the old and new yuanbao, some anecdotes bordering fanfic...
But I am whimsical and fickle, have a lot of other good or nice looking, mellow voiced stars that I like and follow. Multistan me 😂 . Zhang Binbin, Yang Yang, Xu Weizhou, Zhang Xincheng, Ren Jialun, Huang Zitao and many other ! Actresses too: Zhao Lusi, Seven Tan Songyun (who sang several times with JJ Lin who is one singer I adore).
One of the reasons I went on watching Hello, I am at your service was Wei Zheming loves the song of Zhou Jielun. Me too, I was singing along from when I first heard the sweet song 七里香... In fact, one of the disappointments I had about this Hello! drama was that Miles Wei did not sing there, even for OST : he's got a very nice voice, on top of a very engaging presence on screen.

Meanwhile, before preparing for going away, I have been watching again an old 2007 Jay Chou movie, called, "Secret". That was a time travel story with beautiful piano music and a song by Zhou Jielun, who also played, produced, and directed in the award winning movie.
(I am starting to rewatch a few TV series and movies with "secret" themes, such as "Secret fruit", "All about secrets", "The Left Ear"... But there is also the Lost In the Stars movie that recently aired which I need to watch at last - love the theme song Zhang Bichen made for it)
