I felt tepid about the drama in the first episodes until I realized it is an exercise in black humor, and was hooked, started counting tropes, together with some others who have even come to love that show. Then it became quite fun. Anyway, contrary to some here perhaps, I don't watch dramas for moral guidance nor to watch how well kissers perform (there's a rather well done one in this drama, btw ; perhaps more to come, although I would not place bets as the whole thing is not easily predictable, which is rather on the commendable side). Be aware that there are some who feel that it is their God-given duty to scare off others, and repeating they are Entitled to examine Right and Wrong in this... I am not in that pack of monkeys. Enjoying this Skip A Beat, tongue-in-cheek and laughing at the most outrageous trope twisting occurrences. Perhaps it is a masterpiece. Although I doubt Luo Zheng will be in the category of Jerry Yan of MG 2001 - or that of Wang Hedi who reprized the sulfurous role of Daoming Si in the PRC version of 2018. (These were part of quite an interesting cultural phenomenon that I had to explore the variations of, starting from the Japanese original, to better look at what Asian and esp C-dramas draw on). Skip A Beat is not the only show I watch, but one of those that I am not tired watching. I am not dropping it, warts and all. Anyway, it is only 20 episodes long.

Hey hey hey, are you really taking this show so seriously that you feel it is your duty to attack ME personally because I enjoy it and stated the reasons why there are reasons to not be hasty in condemnations ? Well as it happens I am also ENTITLED to my own opinions and to share the reasons why I enjoy the show. Not that I am in any way pretending it is a model for behavior to anybody. It is a show, and can be enjoyed by many who don't look for lessons in life in it. And your post shows exactly that you are the opinionated one who is pretending to TEACH. You can't deny you wrote "you shouldn't" eh? You keep repeating about your "entitlement" and use it to go all ayatullah like, attacking me for writing a bland opinion that you had not yet seen enough, when you wrote your reaction, to start putting out condemnations. That you relish scaring others off and believe in self-congratulatory fashion that you are in the right because of you belong to an imagined "majority" just shows what sort of person you are.
I do wonder why you still are watching if you hate the show that much. It is not on your Dropped list (nor on your Currently watching one), so I think you are just a troll who belongs to some group (or view yourself as a "one umm woman WE THE RIGHTEOUS" group) out to uproot what does not fit your moral compass in shows and other expression, perhaps). One thing I am sure about is that you certainly do NOT love c-dramas, contrary to what is written on your personal page.
Go on ranting then if you are so free to do so : "the dogs howl and the caravan travels on" or as the Chinese poem goes : "... the monkeys ceaselessly howled -- Ten thousand mountain small boats already have sailed on! ".

Why would you be ashamed for these other people? The main culprit is having nightmares from guilt : nice. The Bai mom is like any mom who often try to find alleviating reasons for their offender children. And I don't think the Bai Yun pushed Qiao Jing down the stairs with intent to kill : she pushed in a fit of jealousy caused by others venomous info, and QJ fell on the platform. We know from earlier that QJ was in an at-risk group that should be very careful when pregnant : walking up the stairs was strenuous enough to compound risk and cause the miscarriage. So the whole thing was indeed an accident. Besides, QJ ought to blame herself for having decided to walk up to that platform when she well knew it was fishy to suddenly be asked to see wheelchair and canes using Mr Gu senior in such a place. But she is FL, and so she must be a victim, "blameless" and high and mighty to condemn others for having been hurt, before seeking where she herself could be at fault in not protecting what she should have. Anyway, this is just a show, so we shouldn't apply too much of moral compass to it. As another commenter justly said, this is "tropes galore" and the fun is in counting them and admiring the new twists on those tropes that have been found to keep it going lol. Wishing you continued enjoyment !
I'm not ashamed to admit I'm sad the writers held back with Bai Yun.... I was really hoping to see her crack and…
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 So bloodthirsty you ! But surely you got your yearning satisfied since with Gu Yi bloodied too? (pure MG style there btw, but as everybody knows, MG is the mother of c-drama tropes and this drama is spinning the catalogue of them all, quite amusingly for our astounded satisfaction)
With Luo Zheng's pale Dracula style appearance (I was almost expecting fangs protruding from his mouth over the too square jaw, for a while) there was even some evil undead implications to look forward too, but, presto, this was thrown into the ball park of Su Jue "xuezhang". (Funnily, there's this possible near play on words at work here : 学长 (學長) xué zhǎng senior or older male schoolmate / 血 账 (血 賬) xuè zhàng debt of blood (after killing sb) " Was he behind the "perfectly logical kidnapping" or was it the other two suspicious family members (the aunt and the fat uncle)? Some threads are still hanging loose...

is it some kind of a trend to have psychopathes as ml or sml these days? 😂 They should at least make one of…
Gu Yi had past (and lingering) mood disorders in the first few episodes, but he's been quite straightforward after that, in his choice to be with Qiao Jing. Doesn't doing goofy things to please her and propose, and saving her life count as becoming "good"? Qiao Jing should have been more sensitive about the three years during which Su Jue left her in the dark before reappearing : he is the rotten turtle egg, clearly. She needed to have it almost rubbed into her face by ep. 14-16 to really see the light. Not that careful or intelligent a girl then. Is Su Jue a psychopath? perhaps, yes, contrary to Gu Yue who is at present point neither bad nor mad.
Our ML has switched from bipolar obsessed to flaming self sacrificing hero? But how did he turn up there in the…
Ok I had clear forgotten about the dating app. No need for flashback, simple mention to explain to gf was sufficient. Bai Yun agent seems to have disappeared (also held in prison?) Su Juan's evil deeds were partly exposed. But he managed to turn the tables to his advantage and throw doubt on his rival. Every episodes is designed for cliff hangers and in the next ones it starts with plot twists. Quite the recipe.
No that's the Bai who went to France (and left his homestead in trust to Qiao Jing to call it "home". I too, am not quite clear about the family ties if any or the precise role in the company of "ML's best friend who also is a "brother" of Bai Yun" and tried to extract a statement (but not false) from Bai Yun's agent (and abetter in the pushing to injure Qiao Jing incident). I am convinced since quite a few episodes that everything bad that happens to Gu Yi and Qiao Jing is the doing of Su Juan, who in my opinion, has the goal to have the whole Gu company in trouble, and ultimately murder the (idiot) dad and the mom of Gu YI, possibly Gu Yi as well. He feels as pure evil from almost the moment we saw him stumble out of bed with two leg casts. The stone incident is perhaps directly Su Juan's doing, or it could be the evil aunt's husband who cooked up the plan, using unimportant workers' lives for their game to bring Gu Yi further down.
I assume she has a clause in contract like Allen Ren, but for other reasons perhaps. I can't remember Janice Wu…
Yes. Good flashes of sweetness, and excellent co-star for Wu Qian. Zhang Binbin has well earned the praise of his fans there.
Do you have links for cut scenes ? I didn't go looking for them yet. And the drama is over, albeit in my mind too hurriedly : what's with the kid at the Bureau who calls Xiang Yuan mom? Is that supposed to be years in the future? The baby brother was Xu Cheng Li, and they address him as Xu Yan Cheng, if I remember well (that's what puzzled me). It got messy in timeline, perhaps, in the last episodes where I was expecting something like a grand wedding with or without marital kiss, or at least them looking at household registry booklets with pics of them as newly wed.
I assume she has a clause in contract like Allen Ren, but for other reasons perhaps. I can't remember Janice Wu…
It is not that I strongly dislike Janice's kissing scenes (after all most romance dramas have them and she is a "cool cookie"). Only she never seemed to really exude hot passion in any of the dramas I watched that featured her, be it The Brightest Star In the Sky, Skate into Love, Discovery of Romance, Light Chaser Rescue, Meet Yourself (but her role there was not romantic, only tragic) and now here, where she still has flashes of loveliness at times. She mostly did hugs and pecks on cheeks and whacking co star on head to shoo him off in many of these dramas. The close ups were often blurred or showed tightly closed lips on her part or open with a distance... Not as exciting as Jinmi (Yang Zi) feeding the lingzhi to Xufeng (Deng Lun) in AoL, lol !
Our ML has switched from bipolar obsessed to flaming self sacrificing hero? But how did he turn up there in the first place in ep14. (Flashback to come, I suppose, like the one we got to explain how FL was rescued in the mountain) I never liked the sly Su Juan who is clearly the worst of the pack. Did he have a hand in ep 14 excitement? Will Bai Yun agent escape ? Will the Bai clan forge a signature to have Bai Yun get a more lenient sentence? So many cliff hangers !
From the OST of "The Forbidden Flower" : "... For I know that love is pain, please don't go away from me again, promise me that you'll be back, I can't help loving you again..." 🤣🤣🤣 Shall we bet they'll hook up again ? The kisses in ep8 were... ummm ... nice and yummy? Luo Zheng is a gourmet kisser!
It looks like this is the elusive TV drama that has been in the top 10 charts for a few weeks now, titled "UNDERCOVER POLICEWOMAN" that I could not find on MDL or Dramawiki. 卧底警花 is linked to more description in Baidu : https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%8D%A7%E5%BA%95%E8%AD%A6%E8%8A%B1/22113354 where it is described as "a public security anti-drug drama directed by Gao Yalin and starring Zou Yuanqing, Lu Nuo, Huang Junpeng, Tian Xiaojie, Wang Haiyan and Dong Yong. The play tells the story of Xia Hairong, a female police officer who has just joined the police force, in the face of high-pressure and dangerous anti-drug operations. The play will be broadcast on Beijing Satellite TV on May 12, 2023, and will be broadcast simultaneously on Tencent Video, iQiyi, Sohu Video, LeTV, and Bilibili" (can't find it on iQiyi my end, nor on WeTV ; nor on kiss. At the moment, there are 5 episodes in RAW on Dramacool only : https://www2.dramacool.do/drama-detail/wo-di-jing-hua-2023) Production : On July 9, 2018, the play was launched in Changzhou, Jiangsu . In 2018, the drama was completed. (But it aired only from May 12, 2023)
"During an anti-drug operation, the Nanhua police detected a large-scale transnational drug trafficking network. Under the leadership and command of the provincial department, Xia Hairong, a police officer of the anti-drug detachment, was ordered to undercover the drug trafficking group in danger. She first sneaked into the branch of the drug cartel, and cleverly pretended to rescue the third sister of the drug lord during the police anti-drug operation. The third sister was very grateful and took her back to the drug dealer's lair. After entering the center of the drug cartel, Xia Hairong stirred up the internal strife of the drug cartel and successfully rescued a drug lord. Zhou Jin, the doctor who once rescued him, cut off the branches that the drug cartel depended on one after another, forcing the behind-the-scenes The big drug lord was forced to show up to fight. During the undercover period, Xia Hairong's fiancé Duan Shiqiang misunderstood Xia Hairong, and Xia Hairong struggled through the emotional crisis. In the end, the police destroyed this large-scale drug manufacturing and trafficking group that had been hidden for many years and did great harm."
At first 4 episodes, i do understand why this series long last until 32, typical romance normal male lead x "chaebol"…
"chaebol" is Korean. This is a C drama, Chinese. No chaebol ("A conglomerate of businesses, usually owned by a single family in South Korea"), but a boss from a wealthy family who has to deal with other shareholders who control enough to not make Situ sole king. Lu zong is ... well, you'll see, if you are not reaching end, already. The child was ML character's baby brother.
