That's the famous "Mohe ballroom" song. It's got quite a story and refers to the 1987 fire in Mohe, a small city in the northernmost part of China.
"Mystery, remoteness, and extreme coldness were the impressions Mohe left in the hearts of many people. Few people remember that fire is another mark of this city.
On May 6, 1987, the fire spread in the forest area at the northern foot of the Greater Khingan Mountains and burned 1.01 million hectares of forest.fire in Mohe, a small city in the northernmost part of China. The 28-day non-stop fire engulfed 211 lives and displaced more than 50,000 people. Among them, Xilinji, Tuqiang, and Amuer Forestry Bureaus in Mohe County were burned down.
This is the forest fire with the largest number of casualties and the largest area of deforestation since 1949.
[In.2021], the musician Liu Shuang composed the song "Mohe Dance Hall", telling a sad love story in the fire: an old man named Zhang Dequan (a pseudonym), his wife was killed in the fire in 1987, and he has not remarried for 34 years. In the past, they used to dance in the old warehouse. After the wife left, the old man came to the Mohe Ballroom to dance solo in memory of his wife."
"54-year-old Li Jinbao is the owner of the Mohe Ballroom and a witness to the fire. In 2019, he opened the only dance hall in Mohe, a 600-square-meter basement transformed from a roller skating rink. The ticket is 5 yuan, and the monthly subscription is 50 yuan. Most of the people who come are 50 or 60 years old. Recently, after the song became popular, some people came from Guangzhou, Daqing, and Qiqihar to see the real Mohe Dance Hall.'

Yes, and how He Ran subtly signaled to the innkeeper that Qin Zao was no real friend of her but a trespasser who tried to invade Xiao Han, so the innkeeper on purpose "forgot the mosquito repellent" in the upper floor where Qin Zao had to carry her suitcase up stairs... But even though there were those fever dreams that unsettled He Ran, I am still thinking that her going next to borrow that hefty sum from the wannabe pop star to pay off the intruder was going overboard, esp. when He Ran did not have Qin Zao sign a paper and accepted that the intruder be staying three days before getting up and be gone.
