When will the mourning period End in china? So many dramas are on-hold this week ugh
Okay. So there is the mourning for the passing of Jiang Zemin, but that was till today Dec.7; (not 49 days gaaaah!! Jiang was important, but he was neither Mao nor Deng) BUT I also had heard/read other factors were going to disrupt scheduling for entertainment. Notably the "Memorial Day". Although I should well know, having family in the NJ region, I had somehow blanked on dates (it is not a happy event), but here you are, for full explanation : "On Feb 27, 2014, China's top legislature approved two new national days, namely the Victory Day of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims, to commemorate Nanjing Massacre victims and all those killed during Japanese aggression against China. (*) Victory Day: Sept 3 - the day after Japan officially surrendered in 1945; (*) National Memorial Day: Dec 13 β the day Japan occupied Nanjing in 1937 and began a six-week massacre." + "Students at Fuyang Normal College in Anhui province light candles to mourn the victims of the Nanjing Massacre on December 11, 2014. Commemorations were held across China on December 11, 2014, to mourn the victims of the Nanjing Massacre, in which more than 300,000 Chinese were brutally killed after Japanese troops captured the city on December 13, 1937" (China Daily, 2014) Since then, the Dec 11-13 period has occasioned numerous solemnities, such as inauguration of the NJ Massacre Monuments , which have been documented and recordings could be found on YT too.
Therefore, this year, in addition to other possible real world events breaking in, I understand that things may be "on hold" until next week, and perhaps until Dec.14. At some point, more happy festive mood will take over, since Christmas will lighten stores, streets and moods with appropriate Jingle Bells tunes, despite it not being a grassroots Chinese holiday (although there are many millions of Christians in China, and btw Chen Feiyu is one) .
You have not posted a review to make clear your judgement. Myself, I am not shy to put up a 10/10. May assemble…
Agree with your 9s (esp LLTG) but have no opinion on the SK or other dramas you favor (I specialize in c-drama watching at the moment, have really no interest in SK & J, my choice ). You put up 9.5 for Better Days. Have not seen it so, if you care to write your opinion. on that one, will read it later (have to go for extended time now). π
My other favorite modern cdrama with focus on romance is Begin Again with GongJung and ZhouYutong. Try to see…
To me it felt simplistic. airbrushed, and sometimes sanctimonious like a heavy handed moral lesson. Not that realistic. The beginning was farfetched as "overprotected but rebellious teen behavior" goes and there were several things that made me cringe, such as the way they handled the online slander bit. But the song is good and I won't imply Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi are not competent actors. I just never was carried away as much as many by that one, and on retrospect, it does not make it into my favorite drama list.
Story is good. Acting is good. Hmmm... Well, the BGMs are kinda good. The OSTs are good. Hmmm.. well...apart from…

I just read the last two chapters of the L&P novel. And I discovered that it turns out that Li Siqi (Li Xun and…
Now this looks like it's far in the future. How the world turns in between is unpredictable, but I doubt it would be the same. Trying to imagine it in light of the Back To The Future movies, π
One of the reasons i kinda wished LiXun should have been more straightforward. Why not take revenge with ZY by…
He had described Princess as someone with a tender and fragile heart, so was unsure at the time how she could handle being thrown in the limelight as the lover of a convict. For many unpredictable years. Pushing her away was surely a heartache, but logical, in the hope she was not too rooted in him and could grow again as a transplant abroad, together with not stopping her professional development. He could get back on his feet because he was so bright (even made a prison management program while he was behind bars, lol!) but she needed a framework to study and get certificates and experience. Causing her to stay would have meant stopping that, so he chose the painful way for her best interests. Getting back together before he had completed his rebound was also a risk for her, in addition to his jealousy when he was told she was coming back to get married to Tian (but meeting and talking to the painter in hospital dispelled those suspicions).

That and full wedding ceremonies are things I don't linger on, since I don't need models any longer. Never did, in fact. I know many styles, having been invited to weddings for both American, European, Indian, Syrian, African, Chinese and other Asian friends, either same culture or mix (latest was a Palestinian Syrian mathematician who wedded an Ukrainian Russian Orthodox teacher of English, lol - I kid you not. , ). So the rites and ways to formalize are not a novelty to watch on screen for me.
