She was not able to go the Weibo night event, where an award was supposed to be waiting for her (but rules there are, only those attending physically get it.) If she could not go there for physical or mental pressure reasons, then I doubt she'll be back in the next couple weeks, where she would have been expected to perform a part in televised CNY galas, sing, dance, and do interviews as she was scheduled to do in the past.

We can only hope those who see in a crystal bowl that she'll be back sometime in March will be right.

There is no sense in accusing her of faking it : how does an absence that is harming and perhaps destroying her own career benefit her ?

Yes. No problem. Person did not list any drama featuring Johnny Huang in their list and LSIW was in none of the watching or to watch, dropped, on hold categories. Despite seeming to have watched a lot (about 1500 titles!) there were not that many c-dramas, and among those, few intersecting with those I watch. Tastes differ.

I regret I wasted my time answering the person's question. I saw the initial post was recently edited... The tone is "special" so I believe it was not seeking true opinions or information sharing. I don't intent to interact any more with such an opinionated person who doesn't respect other users and doesn't follow basic etiquette for spoilers (especially in the case of dragging up other people's only negative comments).

too much talking about cool and kiss has already brought down cool although a truly pirate copycat persists ; but that "cool" one is truly pirating with new dramas only and like some other places may be not totally secure to use, esp for those who don't hesitate to download. Since "genuine" cool announced "officially" that it was closing for good last year, the unofficial one may disappear any day.

"genuine" --- cool RIP at least served as archive for many now unavailable and some plain forgotten overlooked dramas and movies and variety shows : the nostalgic or historian minded can only mourn its disappearance... My case :)

For the new stuff, I dutifully subscribed to the platforms, WeTV, iQIYI, Youku, Viki, even to the YT channels of others, and maintain family access to Amazon, Netflix, and some other VOD platforms... So I had no qualms checking kiss or cool if the platforms I'd paid good money to were unreasonable with overload of ads, or geoblocks, in case YT or DM did not have a copy (although the latter often upload shows truncated for the music or part of dialogues, or take the upload away after some time : very annoying).

My goodness 182, are you such a men-hater that you forcibly have to drag that sort of insane behaviors here and throw it at an actor you surely don't know much or anything about - I looked at your list and did not find any of his movies or drama mentioned so : this is someone you were curious about but let yourself be fazed by the haters and cyberbullies who target him?

To get things straight : I am not a "whale keeper", but I like to fish not only from one pond, and to dig deeper than stray haters who pepper the stream of comments at times. So, I did my research, "interviewed" a fan who knew about stuff I wasn't sure about, read the articles for and against, watched videos to get to better know and understand the person, read the statements and the court verdict.

My first opinion from all that was actually very much against the woman who to me appeared as a manipulative shrew and narcissist, using perhaps people near her as a front to look less shady herself. I suppose you know women can be every way as or more toxic than men?

So this one was several years older than the fresh from college pet muscle man she perhaps wished to tie to her as gigolo. She was the powerful one then, from her position... She may have gone overboard in her slighting him and trying to keep him from entering a career. They broke up, perhaps not with a clash, but out of differing views about life and career. She was old enough and not lone enough to not be in the news as "victim" before she or front posted pictures that to me look very much covered with makeup and photoshopped.

These were in part pitiful looking but wait? why not have had this certified by a hospital and police then? She was not a little underage and easy to pressure girl but a woman who had travelled the world, was in charge of an art gallery... He was not a powerful government official, had no connection with such, nor a history of bad behavior to anyone, men or women.

Nah, those juicy anonymous pictures were meant to harm him from the beginning of his acting career, because it was unexpectedly successful (although he played as a "gay" high school student seducing a peer -not his life story, but a script) She was certainly jealous that he escaped her claws and didn't need "mom" any longer.

The haters pounced on this new likely victim to cyberbully : a man with muscles can only be bad! It went on and on, he sued for slander and was vindicated. She later admitted the beating story was false, but with lukewarm apology and bringing the cadaver back at intervals to fuel gossip. Perhaps she needed clicks and attention to herself.

So no, the plight of Johnny Huang is that he ought to have stayed well away from the b... and he is still too soft with her, not being violent back in words as he could have been. But he and his fans only want to put an end to the "series" there, peacefully, as he expressed it and she supposedly agreed to.

She has finally moved on from clinging and perhaps wanting to extort him for money in alimony she does not need and he does not owe her, after having forever "lost" him. She was "nominated" for a movie in a festival, trying to get fame for herself on the late run. She went unnoticed... But she should be happy that she did get that nomination and now she can do something else.

You can have a look at some of the documents I compiled and listed in "the story of the shrew" which I appended to my "Johnny Huang profile" in DIscussions of "The First Shot". See how she looks, dig for yourself to see what she is up to now. I like to do reporting, once in a while, and for c-ent people, that's what I put under "fandom exploring" : why do people love or hate someone. I mostly try to stay warmly neutral, there are few I really feel passionate about. Huang Jingyu was someone I had noticed but not too much in an action movie first, and heard about because of Addicted which I mistook for a story about drug users so only peered at much later, after Love Designer where I mostly was watching for Dilraba...)

Anyway about the rumors which I had vaguely heard of on the Marcus channel when the woman did her "suicide " stunt, in his case, the court judgement convinced me. The overdose of meds accompanied with her note phrased to look as "suicide" farewell drew from me only disgust. Despicable behavior! But I had other fish to fry than that lady or an actor that I did not know. and had watched too little from.

Until "The First Shot" which I got attracted to because it was filmed with much involvement by Zhang Yimou, one filmmaker I admire since the 1980s.There were also new actors there including now emerging Xie Keyin, and the sets were in Changchun, a city I know since got an old friend there and remembered as a hub for Chinese cinema for many years. I had been gifted once with a VHS long video about the film city there... at the time, I attended a mammoth festival of 100 Chinese movies spanning the period 1910 to 1984... So The First Shot was interesting enough that I thought I'd write more about it, posting my "Companion piece" for it together with a brand new Johnny Huang profile since apparently there was not much on MDL about him.

In conclusion, since Johnny Huang himself doesn't want to bash his "ex" because of "fond memories" of them being together long ago, I will also leave some room to interpret the whole bashing of him as the noxious work of the cyberbullies who target any rising celeb. She ended up getting bashed too and that's when she stopped giving fuel to bullies because it backfired...

As for Xu Kai, sorry you like to hate actors so much that you target him for past, forgiven and forgotten sins. Drunk violence is intolerable now but culturally it was perhaps still just regrettable then. Just as I won't stick every American with the label as being from a country of mass murderers who happily nuked Japan, bombed little girls with napalm in Vietnam, destroyed the last remnant of ancient civilization in Iraq with ancestors who spread smallpox infected blankets to native tribes they wanted to see dead, paying for scalps... All that are sins of the past, not of the present, anyway we hope so, because... Gaza, etc. In the case of XK what you dredge up is "ancient history" so don't be part of the ones who applaud cyberbullies who keep finding or inventing "juicy stuff" to stir up hate.

I don't know which Crystal and actor you refer to, and the underage girl was if I remember right a young woman past 18 who got sloppy or was unlucky with a musician, singer entertainer, not an "actor". You'd have a better case to rant if you brought up Kris Wu, but then he did not go free when the police got enough proof in his case. But I am not interested at the moment in building a catalogue of evil or suspected evil men in c-ent or any country's entertainment. Yes they are numerous, there are also politicians, teachers, industry or small shop bosses, family members of Mr or Ms Everyman...

I don't want to become a misanthrope because there are criminals in the world. Every c-drama artist should not be targeted by rumors that have been found false, or by malicious rumors of any kind meant to harm women as well as men. Thinking about Zhao Lusi and her circle of friends. If you tell me a 26 year old should bite the bullet and shape up to drink bitterness in front of cyberbullies who attacked her body, face, weight,character, work, family, I just say stop: how can you say what you say about "victims" and condone cyberbullying that has almost killed one like her!

I have been asked to collaborate on the profile of another emerging actor: but it is a lot of work to dig and my conception of a profile is different from the "UltraFan guides to ..." in MDL articles. Also, perhaps I am too independent: I don't mind sharing my opinions and views, even accept DMs when they don't try to come too close, but I also dismiss friends requests, because of privacy concerns, not wanting those I see as online chums be listed publicly. cataloguing all that must already have turned you into a hater of the show, sadly. You did not even care enough for new watchers to put all that in "spoilers".

if you have not watched LSIW, you will probably stay with that coloring your view of the drama so for your peace of mind, perhaps you ought to turn to something else airing or on your to watch list.

You have impressively long lists and I am actually happy that you seem to appreciate some ZLS dramas including GenZ - among so many you otherwise feel lukewarm about. But you did not look at LLTG, don't plan to give it a try, nor like her last one: ok.
You have already watched so much that I am not sure anything can thrill you any longer, and probably not a police story woven with a love story with a villain who is so obsessed as here. I am not sure you even like police dramas or are curious about them, clearly not in costume, which are not your primary go-to anyway. Or that you could appreciate unusual dramas like To The Wonder, She and Her Girls, Escape from The Trilateral Slopes.
Since you are wary of watching portrayals of villains, I won't even mention a Liu Yifei drama that would probably raise your hackles (despite you put a part horror drama on your priority list? That one,and others from before 2019, you can forget about them since the only platform you could have watched it on, dramacool, is now dead and departed, fallen for the serial killing of rogue platforms ;)
Therefore simply amending my advise to you about whether or not it's worth your time watching this one : I think not. It won't be your cup of tea, so don't waste your time.
Good luck finding something that might catch your attention.

I did... It's very sad seeing how undeserved mud sticks. Well, I didn't stay that superficial : I dug to find out the truth. Most people don't care, sadly. They hear a rumor, there is a woman and a muscle man, then he must be a rapist or a wife beater or abuser. Even it can perfectly be the contrary or a different story. Like in his case, vindicated by court ruling.

Also, there is the insinuation by some drama influencer that he "works better with men" so some view his stories only in BL light... Even when they admit their prejudice. His first role portraying a gay youth also became like chewing gum that you can't get rid of easily. He played it too well; so, the memory or rumor about it makes it uncomfortable for "pure lovers of classic romance" to fully get into his other "romance" acts, especially since he specialized too long in soldier-sailor-police and other uniformed male camaraderie or male bonding!

yes, it is a pity and very unfair that there is this bias from haters having used a baseless accusation, despite a court ruling in his favor. It is distressing to think that unfounded rumors can lingeringly affect someone. It is akin to cyberbullying like an actress had to suffer until she broke down.

I was surprised that a commenter who usually is rather objective on MDL mentioned from start of airing The First Short (the drama JH played in before LSIW) that she did not like his muscles and his character or attitude towards women. At the time, I put this opinion together with that, opposite, of a fan rising to defend the actor, adding my own impressions from movies and drama watching without looking at comments for a few of his works, which I thought memorable. And I remembered the strange case of the med abuse or suicide attempt of one woman who was said to be Johnny Huang's former wife, several years after their split. So I dug into the available online documentation, looking for the official view from the police or from hospital, and found the verdict that he was"not guilty"...

But haters are like cockroaches who creep back to bring the same dirt as if it was new. Gullible people fall into their nets and end up howling with the wolves. And everyone starts doubting a perfectly honest man, avoiding his dramas or nitpicking to find flaws and down rate; It looks like haters always win, sadly. They are best content when they drive an actress to break down, and add insults to injury insinuating she fakes to gain attention when she is already world famous .. Similar pattern for Johnny Huang, except he doesn't let himself be bullied that easily, despite his work is not given the recognition it would have if it had been played by say Wang Xingyue, or another"popular" "traffic" artist.

As for worth watching or not, I liked the drama enough, although it may not be groundbreaking nor be in my top list. That's subjective.

I do like those actors who are not shy to show their workout routines, such as Huang Jingyu (impressive, also the Brazilian jiujitsu videos) or Wu Lei among others. I think these guys deserve some respect. In dramas, I find Dai Gaozheng very cute in the BTS and casting of Maid's Revenge, and I had a laugh at some over the top stories featuring males showing nice six pack abs.

Well Huang Jingyu did not only play gay, or soldier, sailor, police, firefighter uniform focusing on law and order. He did play a different role with Dilraba once (Love Designer), but he is not really the type that most would swoon over, from my point of view .
So when looking at the love story angle in Love Song In Winter, I was at first dubious, more focused on the hunt for the serial killer, next a little underwhelmed by the force's inefficiency and the villain's superior tactics. Obsessed and concealed villains are my cup of tea, but preferably when they are not totally evil. Here it was well done : not evident from start: I was suspecting everybody ! Once the villain was ascertained, the hunt seemed a bit long but convoluted enough to keep my attention.

The love story did not feel central for part of the drama,in the beginning: it was not sizzling but natural, as the two parties had reasons (even if far fetched) to explain their pulling away and getting back together again. There was no other getting space to insinuate between the two characters no lengthy dwelling on who loved first, just some flashbacks to show how they noticed each other, got sweet, but were torn apart from misunderstanding and regrettable tardiness; but they never looked elsewhere in their years apart. Johnny Huang is not my ideal "lover" character, but he did play sweet enough here even if his police character's "protective" tactics were rather over-the-top until he gained access. And Sun Qian is very pretty, with her bushy dark mane. A very good actress.

So, sum total for me, the drama was ok and good but not in my all time top of the decade or the year (for JH, that would be The First Shot, in my opinion).

But top it was for a number of people who watched and rated over the past three weeks in China : twice #1 since Dec29 and now still #2 among top ten of the week. for the weekly period ending yesterday. So if millions there thought it worth watching, you have an objective answer.

Not only clarified by "ex wife" but also by a court throwing the accusations out as baseless slander by anonymous person. The victim is the actor, here.

Congrats for this drama to reach three weeks in "top ten", twice as #1 and now still #2 for the week ending Sunday Jan12, 2025, as reported on the channel of Marcus Here!

The world is like that, has been like that, will not be changed even by the SJWs. It is no use tackling people in power by raising a fuss. At best you get revenge, sometimes ; but more often, you just get more heartaches or stir up further destruction. Well meaning gossip using words like "golden goose" and evoking defiance and boycott etc just backfires to make a polarized situation worse, like the uneven match above and misguided "help" in the tale. It is not outsiders like us who should "counsel", "advice", "rise in arms to defend", target and judge people when we have no business with her contracts.

Already, contrary to your last sentence, some have reacted, but not favorably, and it only gave more fuel to the haters and cyberbullies who are sharpening their knives and laughing with evil mirth at Rosy's plight even here with some despicable "members" of MDL.

Rosy is neither dead nor dying and doesn't clamor for fans to view her as being in "a desperate situation that requires desperate measures" by foreigners or even fellow citizens who are not close to her.

That she had a very serious health incident is not to be doubted (those who do are clearly haters with obsessed and evil minds), but it was not and should not be inflated to "near death experience" to stir up doubts about whether she could get healthy again ! It was ... a serious accident, requiring care, rehab, and rest, but the best WE can do is thinking positively, sending well wishes, encouragement for her. Nobody among fans should even think of boycotting her past, present, or future work because of misguided and selfish holier than thou fanning flames temptation.

Just how far misguided comments go : I have seen comments advising her to emigrate to the USA!!!! She is a patriot, as many of her countrymen, and certainly has no wish to exile! Attacks on the "system" and of course going all the way to "evil China" or "evil Xi" (hey Xi is no god and has nothing to do with c-drama world, at most his wife was a singer, but a PLA artist first so... not anything in common). I also saw in videos and posts, attacks ad hominem on people because of the rumors, that we ultimately don't know exactly if and how they are founded, but which triggered stinging open letter reactions which could lead to lawsuits where Rosy doesn't have proof enough to support her supposed claims (she just explained generally but was careful not to go name dropping); it is certainly a heartache, but just don't fan flames that can get back to target her... and not much can be done about the cyberbullies, unfortunately (even here on MDL, blocking and reporting does not always get the expected just results). In China, the law has dealt with some slanderers that were recognizable.

Let's stay reasonable, distance from any extremism, support Rosy's work (and her colleagues') anyway. Boycott of a venue, because some owners or people in power there stink and get money (tax?) from it, never benefits an artist.

In fact, since last, I see that the uploads continue and now mention 60 videos, so it's perhaps going to be the full 76 - let's see :) More reasonably, we are going to get the "online" 60 episodes edition ; the uncut one is nowhere to be found again, I think.
