Chén Xīngxù 陈星旭 as Xíng Zhīzhǐ 行知止 ("know how to stop") Interesting character name. "行" can be pronounced háng or xíng, but in different condition, the meaning will be total different! háng would be mostly used as a "noun" , such as in "bank", however, xíng would be mostly used as a "verb" which mostly means "can". 行 is also a very rarely found surname.
no he did not die at that moment, and even got cured later by the Meng tribe elder.I'm slowly enjoying this drama,…
Fatal Allure : crappy story and end, despite I keep a bias for DGZ. The villain with eyeglasses that never slide off or get fogged was a bit too aiming for, but missing Joker style (oh btw the 2ML villain in Maid's Revenge did not wear glasses).
In this unserious dubious "revenge & chemistry" mini drama vein, fit to consume on commutes or as bedtime story, the one I liked best this year was Embrace in the Dark Night, which got a fun pair of actors (if you have not and are tolerant of plot holes bridged over by sizzle, do check it + the BTS if you can, it's all on YT and very funny, anyway I was as much amused by it as I was for Maid's Revenge which hooked me to watch some of DGZ's other appearances).
Yesterday, I took in a quick rewatch of Moonshine and Valentine, in the wake of admiring the biggest full moon of the year (recorded in China live, by CGTN for YT). Huang Jingyu was fun too, even showed his muscled torso also there, lol.
Time for dinner. Plan to watch more of the three other dramas on the toss of a coin, later before turning in. Busy weekend ahead...
completed. But tbh despite I was thrilled by Dai Gao Zheng taking part (hot guy), the story was so crappy that he could not save it; it does not have the oomph and style of Maid's Revenge although in Fatal Allure his character doesn't get killed off but "two months later" reappears fit for battle again after resolution which is served by a short text on screen. Yes, and the ending with those childish costumes... sigh. But it's mercifully short, so like a dubious mini hamburger that squeaks and leaks when bitten, between two real meals. To compare, despite the gaping plot holes there too, I preferred Embrace in the Dark Night with Jesse Ren and Gao Rongfang. 6/10 only for DGZ bias: that mini drama can still be watched only for him.

yes, hopefully... FL is constantly under attack from a host of villains, but she is invulnerable to poison and unkillable. ML is also much attacked but gets through the worst relatively unscathed - by #27.
I am not bingeing, just taking it in 2-3 episodes at one time. Not in a hurry to complete. I like to enjoy my dramas and not skip even if some parts are less thrilling so when my attention flags, I just switch to something else for a pause : Fatal Allure (through tomorrow), The rise of Ning, Moonshine and Valentine (that's the "old one" on my tbw list).
There's one that I'm considering whether or not I'll complete, because despite I am amused by tropes catalogues (this one does it blatantly and in the beginning, very funnily) the Talented Girl gets a little tiring. So, it's probably going to be switched to on-hold, because I hate to drop altogether unless I really hate a drama.
If you want to watch outstanding dramas, head over to She and Her Girls (23x45') or To The Wonder (very short one: 8x45). They are on my personal list of best of 2024. But they are not costume. Close behind, I liked War of Faith, Dark Night and Dawn, and in romance department, As Beautiful as You and Amidst a snowstorm of love; the Tale of Rose was special. I liked a few real thrilers such as Escape from Trilateral Slopes and The First Shot. As for xianxia and costume, I was much taken by Legend of Shen Li, and, but partly disappointed by Joy of Life 2 (needs to be watched after JoL1 which is near perfect but ended in the cliffhanger that needed the sequel. JoL will be continued... Since the last episodes are too hurried, you might stop there around 3/4 in. ) Overall, I watched less costume items this year than in the previous ones, where my favorites were Love Like The Galaxy and A Journey To Love. Curious with some trepidation about the Pearl Girl upcoming drama (starring Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning).
Time to leave drama screens for some shut-eye, on my end. Enjoy your drama watching and, if you are in a location without too many clouds, the super moon of this night!
Anyone have the list of OST with artists names in English? I recognize a voice & want to check, but drama wiki…
You may have found it already but here you are (no names in English mind you) :

do they voice over the actors voice with someone else, to me it doesnt sound like Hans Zhang. i have noticed this…
Although two "dubbing directors" are credited on the Baidu drama page, no voice actors are credited for the cast listed. The drama was filmed in 2021 so there might have been undisclosed voice actors, especially since it is a costume drama using sometimes noisy machinery, which usually requires dubbing in post production. But in recent years, more and more actors and actresses dub themselves even in modern times dramas, in post production : Xu Kai dubbed his role in As Beautiful As You in Beijing dubbing post production studios, in a few days, commenting that it felt like playing the role again. Checking the pages for Zhang Han filmography, I only found two costume dramas, one in 2010 and one in 2012 where he was dubbed, the rest does not mention dubbers. Although he might have had a Dongbei accent early on, being born in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang, he has worked and sung long enough to not really need dubbers for putonghua. Besides, actors can modulate their voices to fit what they believe is best for a role. Although Hans Zhang may not be as proficient and have as wide a voice range as Zhou Shen (like in this song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHedu3KcPP0) I'm sure Zhang Han can use "different voices" too. (Even my niece's husband can use different voices when he reads stories for his enraptured 3 yr old son! -- and I can do it too, when 2 or 3 different characters need to be distinguished in reading aloud...)
I want to start watching this drama but saw a clip on Instagram that Xuanyuan Li Ge dies while giving his Skin…
no he did not die at that moment, and even got cured later by the Meng tribe elder. I'm slowly enjoying this drama, while watching in addition some other new and older ones :) Up till #27, nobody we got to know (except a couple of villains) died although there were some close calls :)
Adapted from Wikipedia : The real life Zhang Guimei born in 1957 in Heilongjiang went to work in Yunnan from 1974. After being treated for a severe illness, she founded and became the director of the Huaping Children's Home, where orphans were adopted, in 2001, and next spent five years fund raising for her dream of opening a tuition and accommodation free boarding high school for girls from the mountains, it was launched after she became a delegate to the 17th National Congress of the CCP in 2007 and raised awareness about girls education, gaining support from the governments of Lijiang and Huaping county, various organizations and warmhearted people in different regions. The school opened in August 2008. "Over the past 12 years [2011-2023], this high school has graduated a total of 10 classes of students, from which 1,804 girls from impoverished areas entered their dream universities." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhang_Guimei
It's frustrating to pay good money to subscribe to WeTV, only to get a message that geo-blocking prevents any…
no need if you have not invested already, even with vpn it can be tricky, as I checked, before trying with borrowed vpn to access the HK wetv channel of Youtube, which was watchable thus. I am a good citizen too, with a fully paid I think 2 years advance VIP sub + paid subscrptions to boot, as gifts to friends!! The georestriction made me angry !
