so far, it's Intense Love with better hair extensions...
You really liked that other drama, lol But it is not at all the same novel, the same author, the same crew, nor the same story. Perhaps it vibes very similarly for you, but then romcoms always have tropes in common. Besides, we are far from through with this drama, yet.
I saw CXX previously in Starry Love but he didn’t catch my attention, I even didn’t notice the ML. But the…
For personal info and list and links to his dramas, you can check the mini profile I did for him in January : https://kisskh.at/discussions/the-interpreter/122523-chen-xing-xu-mini-profile He has played in quite a lot of dramas, although his breakthrough was in 2017 with the drama adaptation of the famous wuxia novel by JIn Yong : The Legend of the Condor Heroes 射雕英雄传, where he played the co-star main role of "Yang Kang", adoptive son of the Jin prince and rival of hero "Guo Jing" played by Yang Xuwen. He established his position with his main role in the best historical drama of 2019: Good Bye, My Princess /East Palace 东宫 The 2021 Fall in Love drama with Zhang Jingyi and 2023 The Starry Love were among the dramas that were best remembered before 2024 My Boss light comedy with Zhang Ruonan, A Beautiful Lie is his third drama to be aired this year, since Our Interpreter with Victoria Song aired almost simultaneously with My Boss.
could you tell me all the couples in this drama and their character names?
We have not seen them all yet. Xing Zhizhi, the doctor (CXX) is still not formally with reluctant Qin Fei (>Zhang Yuxi) Ke Feifei aka Kafei (Lin Xinyi), QinFei's assistant has agreed to be the girlfriend of Dr. Yu Zhecheng (Yang Bingzhuo) Luo Xiaoxiao (Chen Haolan) is still covertly pursuing Captain Liu Yanze (Wang Sen) Mother Qin (Rong Rong) appeared with husband Lu Dawei (Gao Hongliag) and Qin Fei's small stepbrother We don't know yet if the other characters will pair up in couples. You can have a look in photo section to find out how the characters look like ; I have added a description with names for some of the character posters
Meanwhile fan groups in Asia are preparing events. One even had cute T shirts readied, but only for the Philippines, as shipping costs are prohibitive and sizes are only between S and 2L. But there are also LED displays and " hand banners and photo cards for those who will be going to the location" (EDSA Guadalupe) + events prepared in Chongqing. To look at the EDSA Guadalupe LED public display, check here : https://www.facebook.com/chenzheyuanbao/videos/1640177103572435
I also would bet on 11/11 btw, although mehnaz is right about that period could be "too crowded" with dramas, so later in December at a quieter time to enjoy without too fierce competition is fine too. Have reserved, like hundreds of thousands, for a long while. Just checking I got a scare that this was "not available in your region" but found the preview again here : https://www.iq.com/play/the-white-olive-tree-27r004lv5sw?lang=en_us
Bummer to read this. I really enjoyed his drama, "Forever Love." Wish they would give him something different…
Agree. But it was only my opinion in this particular case of mini drama, and I was not as lenient as I usually am. I nevertheless think you ought not to let others' opinions ruin your pleasure BEFORE having formed your own one, if you like DGZ. Some other people did enjoy this drama, so don't be too easily swayed by the partly or wholly negative views. :)
Actually, probably not what the drama intended, but people with HIV can only infect other through blood or sharing…
"The other way around". Do you mean you suspect she is stupid and thinks she cannot be infected by others by touching etc in the hospital? We did see her wash her hands... That's what people who work in hospitals do. I can't see why you believe it could be stupid. What was on her mind was a rather ordinary layman's concern about health hazards. Enough people have thought even more stupidly that ordinary face concealing or fabric masks would protect them from viruses when it was the other way round : infected people can protect people from viruses by wearing masks so they don't spit and sneeze their germs as far around them as they would if they didn't. Surgeons wear masks to protect their patients primarily. Only full hazmat gear protects people against other people's infections or toxic spills.
No pb, since the guy she rescued results were out as negative anyway. People don't get HIV out of thin air or random wounds not involving mixing blood with infected people. Even tetanus is not necessarily suffered if you cut your fingers on rose thorns or inflict a cut on yourself with a rusty tool (can vouch for it : I almost sliced off a toe with a rusty sickle when I was mowing away excess grass in my overgrown garden, full of roses too, a few years back. Treated it as peasants do: spit, wipe away the blood, soldier through the pain and wait till the cut (deep one on the foot near toe) healed. No tetanus, no HIV... ) Risk to get polio from swimming in random rivers or unchecked waters is higher.
Actually, probably not what the drama intended, but people with HIV can only infect other through blood or sharing…
Mercifully not by insect bites, or we would ALL be infected by now ! Good reminder for those who still wonder. Those in good health don't need to walk around masked or gloved because they are not going to infect others, except perhaps with infectious laughter if they are having fun, and that's a rather desirable infection !
FL and hospital had cause for concern because Qin Fei had been wounded while cutting the trapped passenger free, and both bloods had been on her open wound. Mercifully the HIV scare was a false alarm.
Maybe the lie is here that he didn't reveal that they met in the past like 5yrs ago and there was a blast near…
They both hide truths intentionally or not. She did not explain to him truthfully when he asked why she disappeared 18 years earlier. The lies are not of the vicious sort intended to mislead for unwholesome purpose, but "beautiful" as in "merciful", to oil over the hidden wounds they hope will disappear with time. As for Xing Zhizhi, he is not sure why she disappeared before, so he is not forthcoming after having himself left her and not stayed close after the blast.
Chen XingXu is a good Driver with that fancy white car and desert scene. LoL more like a car ad.
Of course, there are some product placement in this drama: all TV series are to some extent subscribing to the rules of "soap operas". It can be fun to go listing them in dramas: branded clothes, luggage and bags, beverages, popular pharmaceuticals, vehicles, places, etc...
I don't get her reason to get distant to him, someone enlighten me please? It's only normal for XZZ to get hurt…
In the line of c-entertainment, having a relationship with a fan is as much taboo as having an incest with a sibling. That's why Chen Feiyu got almost burned by the pix showing him dead to the world asleep with a fan gleefully taking selfies from the pillow... Both were young barely of age, and consenting adults, but that still became a big scandal to throw a pall on his innocent career. So, knowing the rules and not being in love with the chubby shorter classmate who her own sad event in childhood had made her totally forget then, Qin Fei viewed Xing Zhizhi as a possibly excessive fan who would only make trouble for her with his selfish and indiscreet trophy hunting. He was not very clear about his own long infatuation, perhaps tinged with resentment from the perception of having been misled and slighted when the little girl disappeared without an explanation or goodbye. He followed her career when he got wind of it, but did not want to intrude if she could not recognize him at first sight. Perhaps he wanted an apology, and she had no idea about it or how she could be expected to owe one ; she never felt she needed to apologize for becoming who she was, and was used to be ambushed by jealous rivals or distrusted and seen as insincere anyway, putting all her tribulations down to bad luck and sometimes losing her sense of purpose, sometimes in bouts of depression, wishing the bomb had not only stopped her first budding career but made an end to her life struggle altogether. She was not moved by good looks ; as an actress and in her line of business, she had been around enough pretty faces not to fall for looks only. And to protect herself, she had grown to trust only her faithful assistant. She was immediately wary of hidden motives from pursuers of all ages and genders who shouted they "loved" her. There are some misunderstandings and lies by omission or to "oil over" a rough patch (her own mourning) that caused their still lingering estrangement and inability to fully disclose their inner wounds, preventing them to get closer immediately. Since this is at least their third encounter (even if she was too groggy from blast to recognize him after the bomb went off, and sometimes had dizzy spells such as when she collapsed from exhaustion after her first rescue in Linkang area) I think she was touched by the stars episode, and by his care for the young patient, so she will start to think differently about him. She almost blurted out she wanted to see him again, back home from Linkang, but she chickened out. That's what I get from the episodes so far ; the story is from a novel, but I have not read it.
PS. What may appear illogical is that young Qin Fei sang the Molihua song with young Xin Zhizhi not too badly but that she grew to become almost tone deaf about singing when she staged the Mid Autumn show out of her own good heart and trust that she had at least singing as a forte. But some people do indeed have music in their heads and heart without being able to perform or sing without "help" or get their vocal cords damaged from illness or accident...
直到永远 (Forever) - 王靖雯 (Wang Jingwen)《你的谎言也动听 A Beautiful Lie》Chi/Eng/Pinyin lyrics:…
PeacheyBlossom, you already posted months ago the "You are the one" Liu Yuning song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF_wn4tose4 ; will you soon be posting the remaining two original songs, the one by Li Mengqi and the one by Qian Xi ?
Apparently yes, and Our Interpreter is said to be a remake of Les Interpretes, according to https://cnovelholic.com/drama-review/romance/our-interpreter-drama-review/
Having watched the three, my feeling is that they can be watched as totally independent dramas, each with a different focus. 2016 Les Interprètes was more about the personal struggle of an aspiring interpreter for empowerment (FL Yang Mi); 2018 Negotiator was about business disputes resolved through a technique that did not owe anything to translation or interpreting factually and focused heavily on the tribulations of the heir of an international company with insider business struggles and his sweet story with the chief negotiator (FL Yang Mi and ML Huang Zitao) ; 2024 Our Interpreter was about the limits and hopes of A.i. machine translation and interpreting through the experience of a conventional conference interpreter (played by Victoria Song) and a hi-tech engineer (played by Chen Xingxu), and the coming together sentimentally and technically of the two. Personally, I did not feel any continuity between those three dramas, watched over a period of years.
I am happy with what I watched so far. If you like, don't forget to start rating episodes, and give your short review of them. I have put in mine for the opening 6 episodes, with drama episode titles as on screen, episode opening scenes bullet synopsis with mention of who appeared at what moments. Even if not exceptional, this drama is generally good for me. I did not mind the "prologue" flashbacks which made it possible to avoid some hackneyed tropes while staying within the framework of expected romcom development with understandable misunderstandings to be resolved. 😁 Qin Fei has good reasons to be easily triggered and misunderstanding some who are not enemies. Xing Zhizhi plays cute, starts with a big lie ("not her fan"? what was he doing wearing a fandom T-shirt then? and pretending the cushion was not his?) does not own up to the fact that they have been acquainted long before the "private taxi" moment. Little Xixi is really cute and the heart warming smiles she gets from Qin Fei contribute to making a sad event less heavy. The other characters aren't hogging time but live up to their "support" status, and show that the actress does not "live in a void" to stare feelings into the drama. Her shooting her mouth off at nasty people is quite refreshing although unfortunately for her, a hazard for her career. The drama does show the hurdles and pitfalls c-entertainers have to overcome, alongside the sweet story. So far so good.
But it is not at all the same novel, the same author, the same crew, nor the same story.

As for the Molihua song, in the unlikely case someone is still unfamiliar with it, I'm adding links here, to one among many Hanzi/Pinyin/English lyrics MV with some info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItPX_lJjyPE and a fun take on the song by Vocaloid Luo Tianyi with pipa player Fang Jinlong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veE60xqE0DI
