This was the shittiest movie I've ever seen boy love wise I'm so shocked these movies are well received.…
Oh, thank god...someone agrees with me. This is the worst of the worst.

Ugh. One of the most bizarre, unappealing BLs ever made.

Why does everyone worship Gii? He's boring, walks around with his hands in his pockets with a sullen arrogance, and is an asshole/jerk.

Why would anyone fall in love with Takumi? He's pretty, but has no personality unless he's with Gii, no discernible spine of his own, and succumbs to a crazy phobia unless one particular human is paying him attention. His vocabulary is extremely limited as well. "Eh?, uh, Gii, huh, no, yes, wha...? and alright" are about it.

What kind of a douche bag ghosts his boyfriend with a totally cold shoulder and personality transplant under those circumstances (which are completely absurd, by the way) rather than just telling him what's going on and discuss how they should handle it? It's one of those patented, made-up BL-style crisis of communication that is entirely illogical and unbelievable.

The school comes off as full to the brim with neurotic homosexuals who love gossip and faux interpersonal complications more than life itself.

Last of all, but certainly not least...those HORRENDOUS hair-do's! Was there a period in Japan when guys actually wore those styles or is it just a manga/yaoii thing?

The ONLY good thing about this show was the surprisingly moving/erotic love scene at the end, when the two mannequins came to life.

I first watched this about a year ago during my initial BL discovery period, and didn't know any better. I do now. This thing is horrible.

Wow, I thought this was really well done, despite the somewhat bleak but open ending. Great acting. Didn't' really get what motivated that horrible girl to do what she did, as she seemed to authetically support the two guys. Maybe it was all just entertainment to her. How hateful.

I went to parochial christian school for eight years in the U.S. Horrible mind-fuck all the way around. Decades later, the psychological damage still has its effects. So impressed by Hei Chung who are able to proudly be who they are, even in that atmosphere.

In my mind, they keep in touch, then reunite soon, and Ming learns to be brave, and to love.

I called you "arrogant" because to me you seem arrogant.
I never wrote that you "don't care about gay people" and claiming that I did, in quotation marks no less, is a transparent falsehood.
How you interpret my way of "speaking to you" is entirely up to you. I never said you were the "cause of my misfortune." lol
Wow, you just make shit up.

Not trying to "win" a fight, I'm stating my position. Which I've already done. What is it I'm supposed to "feel better" from? Wait? That wouldn't be the time-honored Internet commenter tactic of implying the person they are in disagreement with is somehow "disturbed" or "upset" or "unreasonably distraught" would it? No, I feel great, but thanks for your transparently insincere wish.

That's kind of why I wrote "now of course you can use whatever words you want..." lol I don't know where you live. I live in the U.S. To me using "queer" as a grouping term is no less bizarre than if Black people used it, saying the "N****r Community" to describe themselves. And no, the way that word is used in Black street culture is another pronunciation and mode of usage.

I still say "Queer" as a self-descriptive is a trendy term because I was around when it first started popping up too, and because you tend to hear it among academics, not out in the gay bars or at social gatherings. "LGBTQ" is not quite as easy to say, but it carries no baggage, with even the "Q" on the end to include everyone without specific classification. So why not use that? I'll tell you why: "Queer" was adopted precisely because it is such a loaded word and offensive/painful for many gay men especially, to hear, the idea being to "reclaim" the word and make a big middle-finger statement to homophobes that "this is the word you hurt us with, so now we claim it as our own; we have de-weaponized it." Sorry, it didn't work.

I also think academics use it as a signifier of their position within that circle, a claim of status and intellectualism. That's why it's mainly used by academics, activists and others who feel the need to proclaim their status to others.

It's instructive that you don't care what that term means to millions of gay people, nor how it wounds them. It's revealing of a casual arrogance that's become part of your personae, thus you're unwilling to give it up. So don't claim to be "sorry." You're not.

On One Night Only Aug 16, 2021
Wow. This may be the best-made, best-acted, best-directed and most depressingly messaged pair of gay shorts I've ever seen. I really, really liked both of them; they feel so real and naturalistic, and I really, really hate that BOTH films present such a nasty vision of gay life. I don't think all gay films need to end happily by any means, that would be boring and unrealistic. But it feels as though the film makers here went out of their way to throw two bleak, heart-rending gay themed stories at us.

I'm going to come back to this page after a day or two...I'm in a bit of a daze right now. I feel so badly for the sweet, gangly, romantic Hanjae. "...I never had a chance to tell you...", my ass. I'd love to know the statistic on how many closeted gay ___________ men there are in Korea. I bet it's among the highest percentage in the world, given the rampant homophobia baked in to that culture.

Would it have killed the makers of these two shorts to make ONE of them end on a positive note?

BTW...the song over the end-credits is beautiful and the singer is incredibly gifted. Such a lovely, melancholy, simple tune. His voice mesmerized me.

Let me clarify: If social justice is something you are looking for in fictional entertainment, then don't be surprised if you find a lot of things to be offended about in BL land. For me, I LIKE plot lines and characters who offend me and challenge my thinking and feeling. Without offensive characters and questionable behavior, as I have often said, there will be no dama...or comedy for that matter. And you may not like it, but there ARE instances IRL where characters for whom sexual assault is a part of their history, fall in love and stay together or whatever. NOTHING is off-limits in drama. And people shouldn't be looking to BL or any other form of entertainment for instruction on their moral values.

Finally, on the use of the word "Queer:" I fucking hate it. I know all the reasons why it's a trendy term for gay folks to use to describe themselves, but for millions of us it is nothing but an ugly, vicious, hateful, degrading slur thrown at us as we were growing up, and every time it is used it stings, regardless of where it's coming from. Now of course you can use whatever words you want, just be aware that you may be causing some unnecessary pain.

Oh, I don't rag on Fujoshis much. Without them there would BE no BL industry. I don't concern myself with the political/social statements a show is or isn't making; I just want to know is it any good? And if it's taking a super-strong Fujoshi turn with lots of tropes and boys who are only gay for one other boy, I probably won't like it. But I do think it's plausible that a particular guy could bring out the latent gay in another guy that was already there. And I also think two dudes who at least think of themselves as straight getting it on is inherently hot.

If you're after politically correct, social justice sexual/romantic content, then BLs is not the genre you should be watching.

It sounds like they are already doing that, by watching them. And also, you can't really know if a BL like this is going to be hopelessly bad without watching maybe four episode and by that time, sometimes it feels you've invested that amount of time, you might as well go to the end. :)

I'm not aware of the count of current bad BLs out of Thailand (I know MY BOY is pretty horrible), but if there are a lot, then I think that's a legitimate topic for discussion, don't you? It almost sounds as though you are telling the commenter above to shut up if they don't like a BL. We need to comment on bad BLs so people who make them will try harder or get different jobs in another industry.

At least guns acting stayed consistently bad throughout the whole thing. I can’t believe I made it to the end.…
Gun was great in LBC. I think he is just not meant to be a dramatic actor. I'd love to see him as the lead in a comedy. The scene in LBC where he wakes up the morning after having drunk sex with his stalker is one of the funniest scenes in BL history, and it is because of Gun's facial, mouth and eye expressions. The same qualities that made him a disaster in GB made him hysterically funny in LBC.

Yes, most of the fault is with the director, but I don't think Gun, who I really like, is cut out for dramatic roles. I felt embarrassed for him.

Did anyone actually say they want to kill Gun? Disliking a show and saying an actor did a lousy job is just expressing an opinion, a critique. It's what audience members are supposed to do.

They are PAID to do this. It's like you pay a guy to fix a flat tire. You expect quality work. Same with drama/comedy. These people aren't doing this for free and throwing it out there just to be nice. To me, it's insulting to them to take the condescending position you've taken.

BLs, like other forms of film and series, are made by professionals who deserve to be praised or criticized like professionals. This is not your nephew's junior-high play. We are not obligated to pretend that horrible acting, direction and writing are great just because something was thrown together and put on the air. These people were PAID money to do what they did, and this is, I'm sorry to say, a terrible, terrible series.

It's because Gun's acting is so bad. I say that as someone who loved him in LBC. But he is simply NOT a dramatic actor. His facial expression for deep sorrow is the same as his expression for great joy...it's disconcerting.
