Asian cinema, Japanese and Korean especially, have shown me the kind of theatrical experiences that I didn't even know I wanted so much. Films like this seriously touch me so deeply, right down in that deep, dark core of me that has ALWAYS been drawn to sadness/midnight/twisted/circuitous depths built of shades of gray, from black to white. There is a universe in-between and that is where this movie and others like it reassure me I am not alone in knowing that.
ONLY Asian cinema could combine gore, psychopathic behavior, and young love into such a charming thing as this. I simply love this film.
I have a couple of qualms about technical/FX choices, but just barely.
I think it has a good heart at its center, but yeah, everything else is extremely amateur-ish. Kind of like Bad…
Wow, thanks for the quick work, Synch. Are these listed in order of most to least favorite? Because "Like Love" is MY number one and I almost never see or hear much about it. It is so original and quirky, dirty and touching and I laughed my ass off.
I'm loving this drama but, ¿am I the only one who thinks that locations are too shiny and bright? My eyes hurt…
For some reason LOTS of BLs are way overlit in an unnatural way. Characters regularly go to bed and it looks like there are floodlights in their bedroom. It's weird. I have no idea why a lighting designer would think that looks natural.
You're pathetic. Stop trolling you loser. Go watch your piece of crap that is Semantic Error and get the hell…
You CAN tell what shows you prefer, explain why, insult the actors, dump on the director, you can write any opinion you want to in these comment threads. You can ignore the psychos who for whatever reason are obsessed with a certain show and take any criticism of it personally, because they are probably nine year-old fan-girls for one thing, or you can do what I usually do, which is to tell them to f**k themselves, I'll write what I want. :D I suggest the latter course.
I said the exact same things you said and did also mention that I loved Semantic Error meanwhile I don't like…
Totally feel you. I freqently don't like series that others adore and as a result my comments and myself are attacked relentlessly and viciously. Now, I really don't mind that much because I can be as vicious in comments as anyone else, but it's amusing how hysterical some of these fan girls and boys get when their pet BL is dissed. And yeah, I frequently ask them if the director is their dad or something. lol Fuck 'em.

In my ignorance, I just tried to start watching KinnPorsche and found it doesn't air for another month. lol Was it delayed by Covid? I've been hearing about it so long that I thought it had already run. lol LOVE unhealthy relationships! They make for the most riveting drama! I may try to hold off, then watch KP as a binge. I get frustrated with airing dramas, waiting for the next episode. :D

Hi Lia. Yeah, I think my beef with Nanon, more particularly, is not that he's a bad actor but that I do not find him at all appealing or believable as a romantic lead or a semi-tough guy. He was hysterically funny and perfectly cast in the "My Dear Loser" series and sequel. I laughed my ass off during those shows. He makes a perfect, loveable nerd. Have you seen his K-Pop-style singing/dancing on Youtube videos? He's pretty bad but for some reason he is a really amazing rapper. I could not believe the dexterity and speed with which he rapped.
As a leading man though, I find him bland. That would be the best word for him in my book: bland.
You know, I haven't watched KinnPorche yet but I don't remember why. Seems like something in the synopsis or comments put me off. I will check it out again...who knows? Thank you for the recommendation.
On Edit: Hey, I just looked at the Kinn/Porsche page and I am going to give it a go at some point. I think what put me off was that from the synopsis it sounds like it tries to be an action/thriller and the BLs I have seen that go in this sort of direction have not worked for me. The budget isn't sufficient, the cinematography is bad, the actors aren't up to the bad-ass image/vibe required, the fight choreography is terrible, etc. have all been things I haven't liked about BLs with this type of story. For instance, a lot of people currently are liking "Not Me" but I find it silly and not believable. If I want to see an action/thriller I will wait for a feature film with a big budget to do it right. "Golden Blood" was one that tried to be an action/thriller (the plot sounds similar to Kinn?Porsche) and failied miserably. Just awful. lol

Thanks for your comment, Alex! That is precisely how I felt the first time I watched BB and then went to the comment section. I was like, what the hell are these people watchin/talking about? This thing is awful! haha. One commenter said it was the best drama ever made, of all dramas, movies and television EVER. That comment section reads like a parody of teen-bopper, fan-girl squealing BL fans. They're not even true Fujoshis, as Fujoshis have the good sense to LIKE some down and dirty guy-on-guy action and real meat to their stories. BB is just crap. It's BL-lite. And that Nanon guy is so unappealing as a romantic lead, especially up against the talented and charismatic Ohm. Ugh.
I just watched the movie version, director's cut of Love On the Line for the first time a few days ago and loved it all over again. I had watched the original version a year or so ago. I got much more out of it, cried more, and the extra ten minutes, added here and there but mostly at the end, make a huge difference. Have you seen it?
LOVE "Dangerous Drugs of Sex!" Now THAT is some edgy shit that would blow the Bad Buddy crowd out of their seats and send them screaming to their mommies. haha. My favorite movies are generally quite dark, dangerous, sexual and boundary-pushing. I don't like gratuitous gore or slasher films or torture porn, I like well-made psychological shit with challenging subject matter. My fave gay-themed Asian flicks are all pretty dark.
lol i thought the untamed was boring tbh its ok not the best just eh like overhyped. i would only watch the yi…
Thanks for your comment! Without re-reading this thread...did I say it wasn't dark? If so, I should have been more explicit in saying it is not dark in a way I can take seriously. The heavenly realms, soul-catchers, multi-tailed foxes, whatever, are just not my things. They don't capture my imagination, and it may be cultural, in a way that pulls me in. I found myself rolling me eyes a lot. As for gayness, to me AB would have been better if they COMPLETELY eliminated any sub-level gay at all and just made the characters straight entirely. The longing/loving gazes and intimate body-language rings entirely false to me, and feels silly. And-I'm sort of thinking this through as I write-,having read a good portion of the novel I know just how VERY gay it was and it pisses me off that the Chinese took all the good stuff out. There is no difference than if this had been a straight romance/fantasy novel from which they eliminated all the heat. To me, it leaves the show a mere shell of what it could have been.
This is not aimed at you, but I think a LOT of AB fans are young girls who are scared of gay male sexuality/romance if it is overt, but kind of like the flirty bromance fan-service stuff because it removes the physical expression of gay male love and replaces it with an asexual puppies and rainbows vibe.
In general it offends me that the Chinese keep taking explicitly gay stories and ripping the guts out of them to make bland pablum like AB. So on another level, I don't want to support that crap by watching it.

I didn't make it through the second episode and I was really trying, lol.And the whole thing with two guys who stare longingly at each other 500 times in an endless series but never do anything about it is just, I'm sorry, stupid.
